A time to reflect
By: Mike Waters Date: August 4, 2023, 2:12 am

The only newspapers that sell in sufficient numbers to be
profitable are those that concentrate on news that is
controversial, sordid, or violent, and is often exaggerated to
ensure sales. IOW bad news sells far more easily than does good
news
Christian Forums are much the same in that those that cater for
the promotion of denominational differences and conflicting
theologies survive whereas, those that major on unity and mutual
respect, fail to achieve and retain sufficient interaction to
survive.
By and large it is only an over zealous minority of Christians
who, in feeling compelled to promote their own denominational
and theological specialities, turn to forums in order to do so.
Stand up in a Church and ask “hands up those who support an
on-line Christian form” and the response will invariably be
zilch.
Over the course of many years I have tried and failed in several
attempts to run a widely promoted Christian forum the ethos of
which was for members to accept that, because no one can ‘see’
other than through a “darkened glass” none can claim to be ‘the
only one to have seen the light of absolute truth’
So, here we are with a forum that, in asking for ‘peaceable
unity’, seems to be fading through lack of interaction.
By God’s grace I won’t get stressed and disappointed and pull
the plug (as in the past) but will leave the forum to thrive or
fade in the hands of its membership.

‘Tis a great mystery Mike.
I have no answers ….
It’s the same old pattern over again…
In Job it says - “There is hope of a tree, that if it get cut
down , and the root shrivels in the ground , yet at the scent of
water it will revive and flourish again “

After reading your post Mike as to what titillates the general
populace, maybe we are to old for titillating as most of us live
pretty boring Christian lives, I think for the most part,
raising the dead, chasing demons and the serious ‘my way or the
highway’ theological doctrines are a thing of my past.
So what can one come up with to bring the masses to a forum is
definitely the biggy.
Talking of raising the dead, my car dealership that I’ve dealt
with for years which stayed open in the great pandemic panic,
seem to have lost all the service people that I dealt with,
these new Pharaohs I know not, returning a phone call seems
above their pay grade but after my sanctification being tested
to the zenith, I’m finally booked in for next Wednesday.
Now it’s time to get lunch, how time flies when you are having
fun😇😇😇.

What an incredibly apt quote.

Just went back and read Helen’s “How to post a vid’ on Mikes”
I reread the heavy emphasis Helen put on “tap gently” I might
have erred on that and given it a double tap, I wonder if it
will work at the bank machine🤣🤣🤣.

I really like your new site Mike. But have been having trouble
finding posts that have been added since I last took a look. I
much prefer this sort of chatty site to the deep discussion
ones.

Pat , I find that I miss less posts if I click on the “Todays
posts “ in the very middle of the big blue bar board …then I
double check by clicking on the BIG - UNITED IN
DIVERSITY…heading name of the forum ..thst was I don’t miss
anything…( I hope 😊)

My Apologies.
I've only just discovered that I should have enabled full
access, from 'Newbie' upwards, to the new Boards that I've
added.
