Proof of lodging
By: joe9919 Date: June 20, 2014, 9:59 am

Dear International students officer,
I am Joe. I have admitted into the Msc. in economics at the
University of Siena and I have already gone through the
pre-enrollment procedures with the Italian consulate. As you all
know, one of the requirements for obtaining the long term
Italian study visa, the student must demonstrate the proof of
appropriate lodging in Italy. Following this, I contacted your
office (International place) and I was informed that your
office will help me find an accommodation once I am in Siena.
However, I am still worried that I should provide such proof in
order to process my visa as soon as possible. Based on this, I
would like to inquire if your office could assist me in
reserving accommodation. I have been in touch with the santa
chiara residence, but I was told that the reservation can only
be done one month before arrival (this is very late, remember
long term visa takes quite a long time for processing). the
income@unisi.it has not yet come back to me.
I would really appreciate if I could get a letter which
stipulates that I have proper accommodation in Siena, otherwise,
this may have an adverse effect on my visa application. Of
course, I am also looking forward to applying for the DSU
Toscana scholarship in July.
NB: This is the only document missing for my visa application.
I am looking forward to reading you as soon as possible
Kind Regards
Joe

This point raised is very important. I have also been pondering
on it for quite a while now and it seems like it might pose a
challenge. Mine is actually in a different direction though. I
have a cousin who stays in Italy and since I intend to apply for
my visa in about two weeks, I'm wondering if I can use her
address as my place of lodging pending when I can reserve my own
accommodation in a month before arrival. Also does this mean
that I would have to fill her name in the "inviting persons"
column of the long visa application form? Or I would have to
fill in the details of the school. I personally would be very
grateful if the international office could help us through this
phase so we don't make mistakes

Dear Joe,
The email id you got is not the correct. The correct one is
"incoming[member=1]unisi[/member].it" and you can also write to
"candida.calvo[member=1]unisi[/member].it". She is the
responsible person for the accommodations to the incoming
international students. Hope this time you can reach us.

Dear Stephen,
Usually student's take the accommodation proof form the
university to show while filing their visa. For your case you
must contact you respective embassy regarding this type of
accommodation you would like to show them.
Sorry, unfortunately we cannot assist you with this. Please
contact your embassy ASAP.

Thank you very much for this information. I contacted the
embassy here in Ghana and I was told that I am supposed to get
the accommodation proof from the university, exactly like you
posted. I have written a number of emails to the email address
but as of this moment I still haven't got a reply. Please I
would love some assistance with this issue.

@stephen,i am yet to get a reply from the mentioned email
address either.
@unisi, could there be a reason why our mails haven't gotten any
replies yet?, as i explained earlier, the proof of accommodation
is one of the essential requirements in my visa application. If a
copy of the form could be uploaded on here just as you did with
other documents which were uploaded when this forum was
started,it would be highly appreciated.Thanks

@Fweaky....... The above mentioned email address actually is for
exchange students. I got a reply from them asking me to email
the international office on internationalplace@Unisi.it.
I actually emailed the international office but as usual, I
didn't get a response so I decided to write back to therm via
incoming@unisi.it and request that my mail be forwarded to the
international office which they did but even right now, I still
havent heard back from the international office. Its really sad
that we are made to feel this way and more or less left on our
own to go through this phase alone despite the fact that the
internation office is normally supposed to help us out.
