What to do to apply for a scholarship to get a room in a dorm?
By: oguzka2 Date: May 30, 2014, 6:48 am

Hello,
I got an acceptance letter for laurea magistrale-economics (in
english). Classes will start on November and now I'm looking for
a room in dorms like De Nicola etc.
If I have to apply for a scholarship, I would like to do that
immediately. If you tell me what to do step by step, it would be
great. I don't want to miss any point like deadlines etc.
Thank you,
oguz

Dear Oguzka,
Every academic year classes starts from 1st October.
Every year probably 90% of the students get scholarship from DSU
Toscana. If unfortunately anyone didn't get the DSU
accommodation, we recommend you to stay in the DSU paid hostel
with €230 per month for couple sharing. But unfortunately we are
unable to provide that accommodation to the students who didn't
get the scholarships, due to lack of places in those residences
and the final decision will be taken by them(DSU). We offer you
to stay in our Santa Chiara Residence which is exactly in center
and just 1 min walk to engineering department. For this
residence you have to pay: € 310 per month for double sharing
room or €425 per month for single room.
We have our own channel where you can find a lot of
advertisements regarding rental houses around siena with a
negotiable rent. You can subscribe to our channel from the
following link:
HTML http://www.unisi.it/ateneo/adempimenti/urp-e-europe-direct/bacheca-alloggi/alloggi-siena
And for DSU scholarship these are the steps:
The deadline will be on 15th of September every year. If the
15th September is Saturday or Sunday they will extend to 16th or
17th of September. Not more than that.
And the applications will be accepted from the last week of July
till mid of September(as I mentioned above).
To apply for DSU's Scholarship you need the following
documents(Certificates):
1. Family Composition
2. Family Income
3. Property(Movable and Immovable)
4. A rental lease if, don't have an immovable property.
You can follow them through Facebook:
HTML https://www.facebook.com/pages/DSU-Toscana/88381781744
Usually every year DSU announce the final result on 15-October.
Before that, you must enroll in University. Some times, the one
who didn't enroll have a chance to get DSU directly on
15-October. On 15th October result if they remark you as
non-iscritto/a means you must enroll in the University and have
to provide your matricola number to them. Then they will
announce your name in the next list. Which usually follows in
the next 10 days.
If you didn't get your name in the first list and if you have to
wait for the next 10 days, then you have to fund for yourself.
2. The chances of getting scholarship in DSU based on your
credits you obtained in your bachelor's and the "filing of the
documents properly and on time". If you miss a minute to submit
or a single page or presenting a different document(What they
didn't require) you are failed to get the DSU's scholarship for
sure. (please contact borse.si@dsu.toscana.it for more documents
or any scholarship related information)

Thank you very much about the information. But I would like to
ask a question:

Here it says that first year classes will begin on November. Is
there a misunderstanding?

Hello,
I want to ask another question.
First of all, I will be graduating in September. I have
contacted with the embassy and I delivered the necessary
documents and they confirmed the documents. The only thing left
that I have to do is to bring the final transcript and diploma
whenever I get graduated ( in September)
Is there anything else for me to do with universita di Siena
until September? (except DSUToscana dorm applications) Or am I
done with Unisi and could go to Siena whenever I have the study
visa and start to the "economics master"?
Thank you.

Dear Oguzka,
No before September, you have to make your pre-enrollment and to
file your visa(if necessary). By the end of July you can
download or can find the notification for DSU's Scholarship at
www.dsu.toscana.it
By the way, we didn't understand your other question: "am I done
with Unisi and could go to Siena whenever I have the study visa
and start to the "economics master"? " -> can you explain it
briefly.
Thank You

Dear Tad,
The document's towards, the pre-enrollment will be depend on
your respective countries embassy. So, please confirm with them
before going to the pre-enrollment.
We hope, for sure they need all original transcripts and all the
other documents.
Once you finish you pre-enrollment, you have to contact your
embassy for filing the VISA(If Required).
You can enroll into the University till Mid of December. You can
enroll into the university without paying the fee(If you are
awaiting DSU's Scholarship). If you win the DSU's scholarship
then, no need to pay your tuition fee*(*-Condition's apply based
on the course you selected).
Any way without enrolling to the university you can listen to
the classes if you want. But, you can not participate into the
exams till you got enrolled.
