You could put a turbo on it that would make a big difference

Not sure yet about turboing it. Don't you have to upgrade the
fuel pump and injectors if you do that? If we're going to go to
that much trouble, it might be worth just changing the engine at
some point for the OM352A (unless of course that doesn't come
with the upgraded pump and injectors either, i don't know!) :D
More than happy to be corrected on this, as this is our first
       Unimog.
       Cheers,

The only thing you need to do is tweak the pump, go to someone
like ac price as he has a dino and can do it right your engine
may have piston coolers fitted but even without the turbo will
get you up hills nicely. Your high axle ratios will kill her up
       big hills.
What are you going to do with her is she just for fun ?

Cool, thanks for the fuel pump/turbo info. What would be a good
way of getting more oomph for hills without actually fitting a
turbo? Or do you mean tweak the pump even without adding a
       turbo?
We are getting the truck for a number of reasons - one, we are
aiming to move to South Shropshire into the hills there and we
wanted something which would be fun and also practical for
getting us and dogs around on and off road in all weathers. Two,
we are in the process of setting up a Social Enterprise where we
will be using dogs in a Christian-based therapeutic programme to
promote healing in sufferers of PTSD (caused by combat or
abuse), and also in youth training; the pups will 'graduate' and
go on to various service homes afterwards - the truck can carry
9 people in the cab including the driver, and we plan to outfit
part of the rear box with dog transport cages; and three,
because we love Mogs and always wanted one! :D :D

No you'd need to fit a turbo to get more out of your Om 352, the
turbo could take her upto 160/170 ! But only if she has piston
cooling jets without you could go to 150/160 this doesn't sound
a lot but this engine is asthmatic at higher rpm and really
benefits from forced induction and this makes a massive
       difference up hills.
Owning a Unimog for fun is always a good excuse and if it can
earn its keep even better !
Re veg oil talk to Alaexander Noack he's a great guy very
       knowlagable (noack@anc.me)
