       My last Unimog 😄
By: moose Date: May 19, 2015, 7:35 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Yes it is, I never thought I would say this I've owned and part
owned and driven almost every model of Unimog from 401 to the
new UGE unimogs. I love em they all have a purpose but I would
say there's only a handful that suit my purposes.
I like to off-road, I use my Unimogs for work and for fun, I
like to drive my Unimogs as a car so this is why I've bought the
last Unimog I'll own. At the moment We have seven !! Soon to be
four and here's why u34 411 for my heart, u1100 for fun, u900
406 dfor my head and the fact Brian won't let me sell it ! And
now a u1450, the last one is because its my all round faverate
model, why? Because it's not to big, it's stable off-road, it's
quiet, powerful for its size, and she is fully loaded,😄
Only thing it doesn't have at the mow is rear linkage but I
think I know we're I can find that, it does have the later
hydrostatic drive, heated electric mirrors, heated windscreen,
full cab sound proofing, Airconditioning, three way tipper with
steel floor, front & rear pto, front Din plate with upper
working lights , euro 2 163hp engine, four cell hydraulics,
working group gearbox with later air shift, air assisted clutch,
raised air intake and exhaust, air ride drivers seat, air
trailer brakes with working 24v to 12v dropper, I'm sure I've
       missed something.
What would have capped it would have been Cti and 1"3/8 Pto
shafts, the shafts I can change the Cti would be an Alex Price
conversion as he has done this in the past but I can live
       without.
I don't have a car my wife has one of those! and I'm happy
       driving my Mogs 😄
We drove it to Cambridge last weekend a round trip of 300 miles
and it returned 17 mpg not bad as I did anywhere between 50/55
mph. size wise it's about the same footprint as a u1100, noise
wise I'd compare it to a Mercedes truck from the late 1990s and
manuverability is Unimog (great). I take it to the gym, to
morrisons and peoples faces are so funny when you back into a
space and fit within the box, indeed my L200 pickup used to
       stick out of the box.
I'm itching to start work on her, but I'm working on the camper
in readiness for our Breslua trip but here's some pictures.

Doubt this will be your last one mate!!! Guess you don't fancy
swopping her for a slightly rusty, lovely cabbed 406?? ;-)

At last... A cab that is easy for a chap of your size to fit in.
Preparation for old age perhaps? :P
On a more serious note, it sounds like a very nice mog. Not so
sure about using it for an every day driver, but the world would
be a boring place if we all drove around in the same vehicles.
Just don't try to fit it through the local drive through burger
       joint...

You calling me fat NJC 😄 all right maybe not every day
as I do have too many vehicles not one of them is what you'd
call standard ! The golf is the wife's car 😉 I quite
fancy one of this Polaris rzr ? Had a sit in one today at a
       trial, I do fit just.
Just can't help think there a lump less money in America I
should get my brother on the case as he's out there, I fancy the
petrol one as the one I sat in today was diesel and sounded like
       a powered wheel barrow.

Polaris RZR?! I'd stick to the mogs. What can it do? Apart from
make you look silly and give you hypothermia in winter?

I recently assisted in the Running of the UK BAJA which included
cars, bikes, quads and SUV's. There were 4 RZR's. One of them
placed 3rd overall after the weekend. Ok so under 1000cc with a
cvt gearbox, top speed under 80mph and he beat many of the big
money, big HP trucks. When they were first muted I was very
sceptical but after this and the drivers descriptions of a
absolute hoot over the weekend I am now changing my mind.

Difficult one but I'd better finish the 416 on our return from
Breslaue they do look like fun.
