Nice one. I'll have a look for you next time I have a few
minutes to kill. I might have to send links to a few landy owner
friends of mine, just to make a point you know... :D
Sorry to hear that the starter may be on it's way out. It seems
that when you run an older vehicle there's always something to
work on. It's actually quite nice to fiddle with them, although
there comes a point where you wish they'd just behave for a
       while!

It's just the way it goes replace everything apart from 1 thing
and it's guaranteed to be that bit to let you down lol
there's a video of me recovering a white 90 that sucked water
and snapped a conrod and a vid of a old seris landy that drowned
a 90 couldn't move it at all so I put it in 1st with lockers on
on couldn't tell it was on the back funny how easy they make
       things look
A quick question for 404 owners my front axle was clicking abit
when the diff lock was engaged and I was turning on full lock
left or right is this normal or a problem im abit worried

Cardine joints in the front axle check for lift and play with a
bar you can see it behind the hub, have you greased them ?
I take it you've got rod actuated diff locks on your 404 with
the v treads you have fitted and when you have good traction
avoid full lock situations with difflocks in not only because of
the strain but you can dig yourself in a hole very quickly, it's
not so easy to do on a 404 but I modify the diff lock actuator
so they can be engaged separately that way the rear can be
engaged any time without worry only increasing the turning
radius and engaging the front when in trouble !
If you where deep water wading check your fluids !

Loads of play in the cardinal joint up and down plus some side
to side should there be any play think they need replacing
       Thanks again Keith

I've never done a 404 but if there anything like the 406 there
is a wear ring in the axle tube, if there was that much play I'm
surprised it holds oil, have you checked your oil levels for
       water ingress.

After looking at it properly today Im sure I need a full rebuild
bearings seals and joints :'( will inspect the diff when it's
in bits I've got a great spare diff so not too worried about
what i will find there but just because ive got 1 its probably
going to befine Iits always the way it goes
Made a video to show how bad it really is will put it on u tube
       tonight

Might also want to check you kingpins, jack you mog up until the
front wheel is off the floor, then stick a bar under it and pry
up and down, if it moves or clunks your kingpins are warn, you
can take this play out sometimes with grease (pump the grease in
whilst it's jacked up) may as well grease it up whilst you've
got it jacked up anyway :)
       Cheers, Brian
