       A Fish Out of Water
By: Undyne Date: February 21, 2017, 6:23 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"DAMN IT!" bellowed an ill-tempered voice from within the
confines of a fish-themed home in Waterfall.
Then, seconds later, a piano was sent crashing through not only
one of the windows, but also part of Undyne's wall. The innocent
musical instrument didn't stop there, as it continued to hurdle
across her front yard until it slammed into a wall of the cavern
on the other side. Undyne, dressed in her black tank top and
pants emerged from within the part-wreckage of her home with a
very aggravated expression twisting across her face. She ground
her fangs together as she leaned against the hole-int-the-wall
and a scroll of paper was mercilessly squashed within a fist.
"Why can't I figure this shi't out?!" she growled to herself,
punching the side of the wall again to vent out more of her
anger. A smaller piece of debris fell onto the top of her head
just before she stormed off, deeper into Waterfall as she
attempted to cool off... with little success. Eventually the
guard had reached the more open part of Waterfall where it
appeared to be raining. She ignored the umbrella stand as she
waded through the rain and came to a stop and sat underneath a
small waterfall; allowing the plummeting liquid drum against her
back and head whilst she closed her eyes, scowled and massaged
       her temples.
'I can't believe another place has been hit... and I wasn't
there to stop it from happening.' she thought with remorse.

Not long after the fit of anger Undyne had exhibited a goat
monster and her canine friend arrived on the scene. An
overwhelming sense of excitement filled Meka but that excitement
suddenly disappeared when she saw the state of Undyne's house.
Her first thought was that someone had attacked Undyne or broken
into her house but after a few seconds of analyzing she realized
that the wall rubble was pointed in an outward direction so
something had broken out, not been forced in. She also noticed
the very sad looking piano crumpled up against the wall and a
trail of angry boot scuffs leading away from the house. So
No-one had attacked Undyne, rather she had attacked her piano...
Without a word she ran off again, this time following the boot
scuffs. Meka mentally apologized to Boomerang though she knew
that did nothing except for make her feel slightly better about
dragging him around with her on this wild goose chase. She also
knew that he must be getting tired of running, considering that
they had ran here all the way from her house in Snowdin, but
hoped that he would understand that this was urgent and
important to her. Undyne had to be found at all costs. The
thought of getting Kapral home safe and warm, their happy
reunion with lots of hugging and crying, the relief her parents
would show after she returned, all of those things were another
force that pushed her forward. Even when the terrain became cold
and rainy and her fur was sodden and plastered to her body Meka
continued onward. It was when the boot prints seemed to abruptly
end, the only thing near her being rocks and a waterfall that
she skidded to a halt, a puzzled look on her face.

The Royal Guard heard some hurried footsteps suddenly skid to a
stop nearby. She opened her eyes and titled her head slightly,
just enough to see two more monsters whom appeared to be sopping
wet. Soon the fish monster stood up from where she sat under the
waterfall and stepped out in front of them, "Hey there, looks
like you're in a bit of a hurry. You even forgot to take one of
the umbrellas. Might want to consider slowing down a bit though,
wouldn't want you to accidentally slip and hurt yourself.
Everything okay?" she greeted them, putting on her signature
toothy grin and pushed aside her concerns from earlier aside for
       now.

Boomerang felt the water dripping onto his fur, making it
heavier and heavier until it was plastered to his skin.
He looked around on their way to the head of the royal guard's
abode, looking for signs of anything or anyone suspicious; he
couldn't even smell a stranger in the land. He looked around
sniffing still until his ears flattened from the sound of a wall
       shattering.
What in the Underground was that?! He had lived in Waterfall for
a while, and he really should be used to random loud noises, but
they still caught the canid monster off guard.
When Undyne addressed him, he simply smiled as normally as he
could. "Good day, Undyne. We actually need your help... My
friend here... Her sister went missing... Right out of her
       house..."

Meka was going to speak but she knew that she would start crying
so she simply nodded and pulled the grey horn fragment from her
pocket, handing it to Undyne. A combination of the rain and her
near-tears expression made Meka both look and feel pretty
pathetic at the current time and with her spare hand she grabbed
Boomerang's paw. Her blue eyes were big and pleading, begging
for Undyne to do something that could possibly help them find
her sister. The goat girl inhaled and exhaled, making sure that
her voice would be at least slightly steady before she tried to
       give details.
"She was taken from our home while I wasn't there... All that
was left behind was some slime and some gems" she whimpered. It
seemed that she had run out of self anger to keep her from
breaking apart which left only sadness which eagerly took hold
       of her.

Boomerang glanced over at Meka to see how she was holding up, he
didn't expect to feel her grasp his paw. He simply let her, even
gripping her's a bit in a sign of comfort. He said nothing,
allowing Undyne time to examine the situation that Meka
       explained far better than him.

The grin on the fish warrior's face was quickly washed away with
the rain; she could feel her heart sink as she heard the news
and saw the look on Meka's face. Undyne took the offered horn
for closer inspection - with more care than she would have
ordinarily handled most things, considering the situation,
before returning it back to the goat monster.
"No... another one? That's terrible." she began before balling a
hand into a tight fist - to a point where her knuckles paled,
"Slime and gems were left behind huh? Unfortunately, then this
is not an isolated incident; a small town on the outer skirts of
Waterfall had the same things left behind when their entire town
was ransacked. All valuables and children of the town were
taken... this morning I just received word from one of my men
that yet another small town not too far from Snowdin was also
       hit with the same things going missing: valuables and children;
whilst also leaving behind white ooze and gems... I wonder if
they are leaving these on purpose? Or are they just plain
sloppy? And your sister, she wouldn't happen to be quite young,
would she?" Undyne continued, pausing for a moment. Then
suddenly a spear formed at her hand and she threw it with all
her might away from them; the glowing projectile lit a small
trail until it disappeared into the darkness, "That's it! I've
had enough of this! No more monsters will be taken from their
homes again, not under my watch! I REFUSE!" she bellowed at the
fleeing spear before turning to the other two again. The guard
took an extra moment to try and calm down, at least to a point
       where she wasn't yelling.
"Do not worry, I will personally find out what has happened to
her and ensure that your sister will come home safe - and make
whoever is responsible for this pay." she assured them, "But I
can't do it alone, I am going to need every bit of help I can to
get some punks locked up for life! Asgore has already been
alerted of the situation and I have guards patrolling vast areas
of the Underground for anything suspicious... Anyway, we start
with everything you can tell me about your sister. What's her
name? Where abouts is your home? Do you know how long ago she
went missing? How old is she? Were there any signs of forced
entries to the home or do you think she was lured out? Any
further details you can tell me will be helpful."

Boomerang couldn't speak. This was happening right under his
nose and he knew nothing of it? He fought the urge to shake his
       head.
He was shaken from his thoughts when Undyne summoned her weapon.
He watched it fly and turned his attention back to the warrior
when she began to ask questions. Of course, he couldn't answer
any of them since he and Meka had just met; he hadn't even met
her sister. All he could do was simply sit back and listen to
       Meka's answers to the question.
He didn't feel he had to voice he was willing to help in any way
possible; he had already made that promise to Meka; having
Undyne help only made things easier.

Meka's eyes widened at the thought of several villages worth of
children being abducted. So this was nothing new...
The idea of the culprits leaving their mess behind intentionally
worried Meka. Could this actually be a trap to lure in stronger
monsters who had come to retrieve their children and siblings?
Her throat felt tight at the thought but she took a few calming
breaths. Everything would be okay... Undyne was here. And she
was strong. As though Undyne had read her mind a glowing spear
flew from her hand into the distance, giving Meka a glimpse of
the warrior's magical prowess. She felt slightly more reassured
as the combination of Undyne's strength and Boomerang's comfort
       hit home.
"My sister is nine, so yes, she's young... she's a boss monster
like me but scruffier and smaller, and she has a grey marking
around her eye. She went missing just before we arrived at my
place, so she's been gone for as long as the run from Northern
Snowdin to waterfall is... and they didn't seem to enter
forcefully, their approach seemed to be stealthy rather than
focused on brute force. I didn't notice anything was broken when
we walked in, and my parents only noticed when they heard her
cry out. By the time they got there...she was gone"

Undyne frowned in thought, "Hmm... this is a bit different since
the other villages were totally wrecked. There could be more
than one monster at work here and it sounds like they were
specifically after her and nothing else. Is there anything
special about her that would make her stand out from other
monsters? Since this only just happened, I suppose you may not
be sure if the other houses around yours were targeted as well?"
