Lost Hope

The tall warrior stood in defiance at a mountain's peek as she
stared up at the barrier which imprisoned all of monster-kind
down here. Her piercing yellow eyes glared at the barrier above,
she inhaled deeply and shifted into a stronger stance. All of a
sudden the mountains in the Underground shook with her mighty
cry of anger; a powerful, determined scream as the dark mountain
ranges were suddenly lit up with an eerie cyan blue. Hundreds
upon hundreds of spears had formed like stars, lighting up the
night-canyon all around. With a mighty swing of her arm the
arrows spun upwards, tearing through the air like bullets and
exploded upon impact on the barrier.
"Come on..." she grunted, her voice with a slight reverb beneath
her helmet. This time thrusting both arms upward as she sent the
spears of hope crashing into the barrier above. Some smoke from
the impact cleared, and Undyne yelled even louder as she
summoned eve more spears, not willing to believe - nor give up -
on the fact she hadn't even scratched the surface. With so much
magic being expelled, the force of it all pushed Undyne back;
her metal boots dragging across the rock and dirt as she refused
to buckle over and kept standing tall.
Seconds turned to minutes, and minutes turned to hours until
finally the very last, lone spear appeared above Undyne. The
fish warrior was breathing heavily - angrily - as she glowered
upon the pristine barrier.
'I cannot give up now... everyone is counting on me.' she
thought tiredly to herself; ignoring how much every part of her
body was protesting and she raised a fist to send the lat spear
she could summon flying through the air like a rocket before it
exploded against the barrier.
Still. Nothing.
Undyne dropped to her knees, allowing for the sweat to flow and
her realization sink in. Another yell boomed from the warrior
and she ripped off her helmet and threw it across to the side
from utter frustration.
"DAMN IT!"

The red wolf walked the mountain side in content as she looked
up at the barrier that kept her and all monster kind trapped
underground. Why were they prisoners in this dark and deep
cavern? How long have they been down here? These were question
the ninetails always asked herself. Her ears stood up at
attention as she felt a strong magical force close by. Her eyes
locked onto the blue lights that flled the air. Upon close
inspection, she could tell they were spears made up of energy.
When the spears took off into the sky, they struck the barrier
with enough force that the area was covered in smoke. Was
someone trying to break through the barrier? Once the smoke
cleared, the barrier remained unscratched by the attack. When
she heard the sound of metal hit the ground and the sound of
someone screaming in anger, she had to go investigate.
When she arrived, she found one lone warrior out of breath on
her knees. " She must be the one responsible for the
spears....." Sakura thought to herself before going to address
the warrior. " Are you...okay? " she asked.

Undyne perked up suddenly, she had been so focused on trying to
break the barrier herself that she hadn't noticed someone else
was here. The Captain of the Royal Guard got to her feet right
away, forcing her aching and slightly quivering body into a
tall, proud stance. She cast the wolf her signature, broad,
toothy grin, "Well of course I am! Barely broke a sweat!" she
exaggerated, "So, what brings you here? Do you live in these
mountains?"

When Undyne jumped to her feet so suddenly, Sakura's tails went
stiff for a split second but relaxed as Undyne claimed she was
ok. Based on the attack before, she must have exerted a lot of
magical energy. But if the warrior wanted to pretend she was
alright who was Sakura to judge? She put on a smile as undyne
had a sterm and prideful look about her...kind of reminded her
of herself. She gave a brief nod before addressing the warrior.
" In a manner of speaking...i kind of just been roaming from
place to place down here." Sakura replied as she looked up at
barrier with interest. " My name is Sakura by the way. And you
are..? " she asked looking back to the warrior.

"Hope you don't feel like a fish out of
water here Undyne. With not being recognized and being away
from Waterfall and all." A voice chuckled behind the
two. A short skeleton wearing a blue hoodie and a seemingly
permanent grin plaster on his skull lazily leaned against a
boulder.
He looked up to the wolf and waved briefly, [font=comic sans
ms]"Hey there. I'm Sans. Sans the skeleton."

Undyne maintained her grin, albiet a little surprised, "Well
it's awesome to meet you Sakura! The name's Undyne, Captain of
the Royal Guard!" she proclaimed before glancing around and
muttering to herself, "Now where did my helmet go..."
Upon hearing a certain skeleton's voice she whirled around; her
hair whipping behind her like a red, streaming ribbon, "Sans.
What are you doing away from yiur station?" she questioned, her
voice with an underlying tone of annoyance.

Sakura gave a nod to Undyne before turning over to the new
arrival. A small skeleton with a big grin on his face. She
hadn't even heard him closing in. How did he get here so fast?
It seems Undyne knew the skeleton so he must've been friendly.
She returned the wave before speaking up. " Nice to meet you
Sans. My names Sakura. " she replied. She turned back to Undyne
as she looked around herself as if she had lost something.
Looking over Undyne, she noticed a helmet laying on the ground.
Could that be what she was looking for?
She took a few steps and picked up the helmet and handed it to
Undyne. " Is this what you were looking for? " she asked.

"You know, I was wondering the same question!" a boisterous
voice called out, that being Papyrus. His supraorbital
ridges(that is so say, the skeleton version of an eyebrow) were
furrowed, red mitts clenched into fists as he, in a comical
display of annoyance, stalked up right behind Sans. "Honestly,
why are you all the way out here?" He sighed in exasperation.
"Undyne's right, you should be at your station," he emphasized.
"Sometimes I don't even know why I bother..." he mumbled, but
still rather clear due to the fact that he often tended to
over-emphasize his words, both in pronunciation and volume.

Sans stood completely still after looking over his shoulder at
his brother, "I am station-ary, does that
count?" he winked before shrugging, [font=comic sans
ms]"Well, really, I'm just on my break. Decided to go for a
leisurely stroll."
A 'leisurely stroll' which had lead him miles and miles and
miles away from his usual station in the forest near the ruins.

Papyrus opened his mouth to reply, but the sentence got caught
in his throat when he noticed the absolutely infuriating pun his
brother had made.
"SANS!" the taller skeleton nearly screeched, stomping his foot.
"Not today! And you were doing so well, not a single one since
yesterday..." Papyrus sighed. "And your 'leisurely stroll' has
led you all the way out here! It is well past the time that you
should be returning to your station!" Papyrus huffed.
