Cobalt the Blacksmith

Species: Anthro Dragon
Height: 8 Feet tall, even taller when standing on her hind legs.
Magic/Power: Magnetism
Occupation: Blacksmith
Residence: Hotlands
Family Members:
Cobalt is the middle child and has/had eleven siblings.
Mother - Kia manipulates air pressure and oxygen andnitrogen
levels in the air.
Father - Tahl - conjures/breathes fire at intense levels.
Older Brother - Titanium (preferred name is Titan). Conjures
metal but cannot manipulate their forms like Cobalt can and visa
versa.
Older Sister - Rosemary. Healer.
Older Brother Triplets (hydra) - Tundra, Shale and Zircon.
Conjures/breathes ice, rock and crystals.
Younger Sister Marver - manipulates glass.
Five other younger siblings - unhatched/unknown.
Personal Bio:
The dragoness has few friends and little excitement in her life.
She usually only ventures out of Hotlands for supplies,
curiosity or to test any of the pieces she has crafted. Cobalt
is often stern and coldly-spoken; though she always makes the
effort to ensure that she presents herself in a respectable and
professional manner.
Background/Family Lore and History:
Cobalt comes from a large family of anthro dragons whose magic
specializes in either conjuring or manipulating a specific
element. Traditionally, Kia and Tahl have been fond of naming
their children after something in relation to the element
they're most akin to.
The arts of conjuration and manipulation are mastered in
different ways. When a dragon in this family have mastered a
skill or are simply naturally gifted to have become to 'in-tune'
with their element they become one with it; a hybrid of being a
dragon and being a sentient form of their element. So far this
has been known to happen to Titan, Cobalt and Marver. Titan and
Cobalt have worked hard to master their skill and have reached
this level to be considered to be this hybrid whereas Marver was
born naturally gifted with manipulating glass that she too is
this hybrid of sentient glass and dragon.
Bio:
Cobalt, also known as Coa by family and friends, was born well
before the war between man and beast. She was really close to
her family, particularly with her older brother Titan. They
both shared the same interests, affinity to metals and both were
both outgoing and adventurous. Titan often showed her the ropes
in the world that they lived in, particularly in all the
different types of metals he knew about and could conjure. He
was the one who discovered that Cobalt couldn't conjure metals,
but rather, could manipulate their forms and shapes; and gave
her three large metal orbs she could carry around with her. Due
to her magnetism and manipulation magic of metals the orbs would
orbit around around her like planets would around a sun. Even to
this present day Cobalt still has these very orbs created and
gifted by her brother.
Years later Cobalt's skill reached greater heights and was able
to create metal sculptures and eventually basic sharpened
weapons. Her parents took note of her skill and encouraged her
to start a career path in Blacksmithing; to which she had no
problem in persuing.
More time had passed and Cobalt was in her mid to late teens
when she made some new friends Lucian and Mistral...
(Details about this will be added at a later time.)
A few more years had passed when the war between man and beast
had broken out. No one in the family were soldiers, but both
parents and elder siblings had volunteered to help monster kind.
Tahl and Rosemary were sent to support the Fire Elementals
andTitan helped support troops on the frontlines. Kia, the
triplets and Marver were lookouts to alert their allies of any
human sightings and switched between shifts to look after Kia's
six unhatched eggs.
As the war raged on monsters and humans had suffered great
losses. It didn't take long for word to spread about the heavy
casualties the Fire Elementals had suffered and that Tahl, Titan
and Rosemary had gone missing. Striken with worry Cobalt pressed
on and got the idea of aspiring to become the next Royal
Blacksmith so that she could get closer to the war and find out
what happened to her missing family members.
Her talents were recognised, she was able to build her first
forge and she took up a crash-course Apprenticeship course with
the current Royal Blacksmith. Once Cobalt got the hang of things
she was thrown into the deep end and the two Blacksmiths joined
the troops in the war, tasked with crafting and repairing suits
of armor and weapons for the troops on site. Despite being right
there on the field she was unable to receive new word about what
had happened to her family and she was now faced with the
pressures of war. Every piece of armor worn - especially from
the ones she crafted - Cobalt wad able to sense where they were
on the field within reasonable distance.
What she was not prepared for was the casualties suffered in
war. What struck her the hardest, asides from not hearing about
her missing family members, was that she was able to sense when
pieces of armor broke in battle and she harbored guilt over
that, feeling responsible for not being able to protect said
monsters enough. Whilst feeling this guilt she maintained her
facade of being optimistic, sassy, flirtatious and energetic by
distracting herself to focus on creating more and better armor;
determined to protect the next wearers better. If anyone wanted
to talk about what was happening Cobalt would either divert or
leave the conversation entirely for she refused to speak about
what she had experienced.
One day, still during the war, Cobalt received word that a
human knight in shining armor, riding his valiant steed was out
to make a name for himself by slaying some dragons. While this
news disturbed her, she didn't find it alarming until she found
out that the human knight was near her family's home. So in the
middle of her duties she raced home in hopes to beating the
knight there.
She did manage to get there in time to warn her mother and elder
siblings present in the home, but what she also found out that
it wasn't just one human knight; there was more. Cobalt had put
up a good fight in pushing the humans wearing metal away or off
the edges of cliffs to protect her family, but seeing as she was
no where as experienced as she was today; she found it very
taxing and her magic was depleting quickly. Especially when the
ambush of humans were armed to the teeth with dragon slayer
equipment and magic.
With the odds against the family of dragons, the elder triplet
brothers (the hydra dragon) stepped in such a way that they
could at least divert the attention from their mother, sister
and six unhatched siblings and allow for them to escape. With
the pressure on, Kia was unable to leave her sons behind with a
grim fate at the hands of the humans, so Kia hid five of her
eggs and gave the smallest one to Cobalt; it being the only one
the young Blacksmith Apprentice could carry on her own and was
told to run and hide with her unhatched sibling; promising to
meet up eith her again soon. Cobalt protested until eventually
her mother pushed her off the edge of their home on a mountain
so that she had no choice other than to fly and flee.
Days dragged on and Cobalt had received no word from her mother
or elder brothers either. Since the day she left them she had
returned to the forge on the battlefield with her unhatched
sibling. She had been keeping the egg warm and cared for; the
same way she had been taught to look after the eggs by her
parents and older siblings while she was on and off duty.
Luckily for her, she had found out by eavesdropping on some
troups that the human knights in the area where her family was
ambushed had fallen back and retreated with no dragon or dragon
monster dust to claim as their trophy. She was certainly
relieved to hear this news but started to wonder why she hadn't
heard back from her mother or brothers.
She started to make plans to go back home and check in on them
as soon as she was able. That opportunity was delayed, however,
when at some point in the war the demand of her work became too
high and it was too much for the Royal Blacksmith at the time to
manage on his own and needed her to be there. There were some
daunting and demanding tasks ahead if Cobalt, and it even seemed
like the monsters were winning. Cobalt then took up the mantle
of being the next official Royal Blacksmith for proving herself
and that her predosessor was too old to continue.
Their celebrations were short-lived, when the humans showed up
with seven mages showed up to face the monsters and sealed them
away in the Underground.
To this day Cobalt still didn't know what became of Tahl, Titan
and Rosemary, but she did find out whay became of her mother and
other siblings. When faced with the human knights the family
were backed into a corner due to just how strong the humans
were. So as their last measure of defence, the triplets placed
a curse on themselves, mother and unhatched siblings. They were
put in a deep slumber, a slumber which turned out to last for
centuries, whilst being cancealed within a solid, protective
caccoon of ice, rock and crystal. Cobalt has no knowledge of
whether they were sealed in their home on the surface or if they
were dragged somewhere into The Underground as well.
Many years went by and Cobalt grew more and more concerned about
the egg she had with her, for it was taking an abnormally long
time to hatch and she feared that it never would. However her
worries were soon waved away when her baby sister Marver finally
hatched and Cobalt had been fiercely protective of her since.
Due to what she experienced in the war and having lost to the
humans, Cobalt resigned from her duties as a Royal Blacksmith;
feeling undeserving of the title and felt like she failed to
protect enough monsters with her armor and weapons during the
war. That and, bejng sealed in the Underground also meant little
work was there for her other than repairs, polishing and the
occasional commission to make more. These years have made Cobalt
grow bitter, zero tolerance from other monsters and very, very
quick to anger. She's often rather stern or unpleasant when
around monsters she doesn't know, but has a tendency to soften
up and be more like her former self when around those she trusts
or have known for a long time.
Magic/Power: Magnetism
Cobalt has the ability to levitate, throw or manipulate the
forms of most metals - which of course become useful in her
craft; especially when she designs tiny, intricate details. She
cannot breathe fire, which is why she relies on the lava and
heat found in Hotlands. She does, however, ingest various kinds
of metals and should the need to arise - regardless of defending
herself or as a part of her forging, she can 'projectile vomit'
molten forms of said metals. ((There really is no nice way to
put it xD I was going to say 'breathe molten metals' like when
traditional dragons breathe fire, but that didn't make any
sense.)) Due to her ability, Cobalt is also able to 'sense'
different kinds of metals around her, so she is often aware if
anyone may be concealing or carrying a metal weapon on them.
Appearance: Cobalt is an anthro vermillion-red dragon with
wine-purple horns, green eyes and an off shade of pink for her
underbelly and webbed 'ears'. Her natural tail blade has had a
battle axe molded and sharpened at either side; handy for if she
is caught in a tight spot.
Known Weaknesses: Cryo Magic, soft underbelly, eyes being
targeted and electricity.
