       Cold and alone
By: Sprite Date: April 26, 2019, 2:50 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The sound of shattering crystal drilled into the puck’s ears as
he felt his eyes bear witness to a network of cracks dashing
across his vision. Something was drilling into his forehead, it
oozed with something... familiar, something powerful. The teen’s
muscles tensed, his chest tightening as he moaned abruptly. He
felt dizzy and light headed as a violent hue of red slowly
       consumed his sight.
Somewhere in Waterfall, a little alcove had been completely
sealed away by a field of crystal. However, it was well hidden
enough to camouflage the chunk of ice that had formed many
months ago. One could even consider this as a sort of time
capsule, untampered and unaltered by the most recent of events.
Deep inside the ice rested a memory from the past, one that had
yet to learn just how much had changed in it’s absence.
The ice began to shake, the crown on top of Sprite’s head
shuddering as it’s raw determination was absorbed into the
puck’s body. That power Flowey had talked about, that rush, he
could finally feel it. The crown had finally given way and
bestowed it’s power to him once and for all. At least, a portion
of it. It was enough to finally awaken him, it was enough to
bring Sprite back into the world of the Underground, and free
       from his incapacitation.
Ice and crystal exploded outward in a violent display of raw
power. Jets of mist pulsed outward, coating the walls in a thick
frost, cracking any natural crystals nearby from the dangerously
low temperatures. The wind was howling, but not for who you
might have thought. No, it was something else. Something that
had not been able to finish what it started.
There stood a boy in his late teens, messy white hair, and a
frosty blue skin. His nose was sharp and angled, just like his
ears. His teeth were long and jagged, white like his hair. He
wore a black tank top and dark blue jeans and a pair of
sneakers. His usual fluffy parka was nowhere to be seen, but as
he recalled he remembered that he had tossed that aside some
       time ago.
A faint red aura emanated off the teen as he walked forward, the
mist caressing his form and he held his forehead groggily. Power
continued to pump into his body as he began to contemplate his
situation. It felt... amazing. Intoxicating. It felt limitless.
“...THE CROWN!” Sprite suddenly shrieked as he began to yank it
away, stammering as the thorns gave way. With a sickening pop,
the crown dislodged itself from his forehead. It didn’t seem
that he had used all of it... not even half of the determination
had been absorbed yet. It was still in the crown.
“...I must have, fallen asleep with it on..”
he groaned to himself, touching the spot on his forehead where
the crown had been. Something about that triggered a memory in
the teen. The puck froze, the memories suddenly rushing back to
him of Cherry and Gust in the ice, he remembered getting
overwhelmed, underestimating them together. He vaguely
remembered being carried by Flowey... the sharp stabbing pain of
thorns circling his body. There were faint scars riddled all
over his arms, some on his neck and chest too. He remembered
being hurled somewhere, his memory hazy, and the only thing he
remembered was crawling until everything become cold and dark.
       And here he was.
There wasn’t a soul in sight. In fact, there were no signs of
anything that had happened that day. Trinity, Link, the Koray,
Grillby, Sakura, Zarc, nobody was here. Clutching the crown,
Sprite began to walk forward, taking in his surroundings as his
mental map of the world began creeping back to him. He didn’t
see his parka anywhere in sight, which was a shame. After a bit
of wandering, he decided to walk to the only place he could
       think of.
The moldsmal cavern seemed... smaller than he remembered.
“Flowey...!” He called, raising a hand to his mouth the cavern
echoed his voice back to him. The air was thin, the atmosphere
of the place felt empty, void of any sort of presence. Nobody
had probably come here in some time.
The ceiling crack.... it was gone. The stars, would he be able
to see them again? Would he be able to see them with Flowey?
“Flowey!!!” he called once a more, a hiccup in his voice as he
began to search a bit more frantically. His breathing sped as he
searched every crevice or hiding spot the little flower had used
before. The only thing he received in response was the crushing
       reality that nobody would come.

In Character Date And Time: November 25th, UUY 1, about 2:30 P.M
       [hr]
Water dripped from above, and it was a typical day. Very soon,
the sound of banter started to fill the caverns.
Zephyrus and his mercenaries were now returning from Hotland.
They'd gotten a job in New Home to hunt down a jewel thief and
bring the thief back to the owner. They got a nice and hefty
price for it too, but it had taken them a good part of the
morning, and a lot of Magic on Heathcliff's part.
Now, it was around Mid-Afternoon. Zephyrus was tired of all the
chasing, and so were some of the others.
Lance grinned holding a bag of money.
"Today was such a great day! We got more money, and we can pay
off the rest of our Rent! Yeah!"
       Zephyrus grinned.
"Well, we're getting close to home now, so we can all rest up as
needed. Today was a busy day, and I don't expect much else."
       Oswin nodded.
"We did as best a damn job as we could. Now, let's see what new
surprises Waterfall has in store for us today."
They passed many areas in Waterfall as they kept talking. They
passed Gerson's shop, to which Lance stopped for a bit, and
bought some Sea Tea bags for the others. After a while, they
started walking past an old and Uninhabited area of Waterfall.
They were about to take a right towards the Wishing room, when
Heathcliff tensed up. Zephyrus also turned, and felt a small
cold chill, followed by the sound of rocks smashing and
       breaking.
Heathcliff's ears perked, and he turned towards the abandoned
       living area.
       "That did not sound natural."
Elroy also turned, and all of them felt a slightly colder chill.
       Zephyrus turned his head.
"Whatever it was, it sounds like it was big... Come on, I don't
think we should go in there. The locals say the area is cursed."
Oswin nodded his approval, and was turning to go, when
Heathcliff heard it. A faint voice. It sounded hoarse, and
rigid, but he recognized it as a voice.
       Heathcliff grimaced.
"... Someone's calling for someone... It's faint, but I can hear
it. It might be a kid, and for all we know, a bunch of rocks may
       have fallen on them..."
       Lance shrugged.
"What's it got to do with us?
       Oswin nodded gravely.
"It has everything to do with us. What if we're the only help
that's close? We can't abandon someone in need."
Zephyrus sighed, before drawing his sword.
"As much as I want this to not be our problem, it might have to
be our problem now... That and we might get paid for our efforts
       if this is successful."
       Elroy turned in.
"I don't trust it... what if you guys can't help them?"
       Zephyrus nodded his approval.
"Hmm, well, we really only have one option."
He tapped his helmet. Oswin nodded to him.
"... As much as I hate to admit it old friend, we might need
       more help than just us..."
Oswin turned to Lance and Elroy.
"Go to the Residential area, ask around for help. Say that you
believe a child might be in danger. If anyone is willing, ask
them for help. Me, Heathcliff and Phyrus here will go in and see
       what is going on."
Zephyrus nodded, before he cut down the wood blocking parts of
       the entrance.
"Lance, Roy, I trust you two. Lance, if you need to, ask Undyne
for help. You were honorably discharged, so she should trust
you, but I doubt she would be happy with me... Now go. Find
       help!"
The two nodded, and ran off towards the Waterfall residential
       area.
Heathcliff felt the falling temperature, and nodded to the
       others.
"We don't know what we're in for... With what we know it might
be a surviving member of the Koray from way back when..."
       Oswin shuddered.
"I hope to god it isn't. I've heard the stories..."
Zephyrus sheathed his sword, as he stepped into what was left of
       the Moldbygg residential area.
"Brothers, focus. We have a job. Make sure whoever is in here is
       safe."
Heathcliff and Oswin stepped forwards. Zephyrus lit his sword as
a torch, as they walked into unfamiliar terrain.
       Zephyrus called out.
"Hello? Is anyone out here? If you are, say something."

An unfamiliar voice indeed. There were three of them, that much
was sure. But it wasn’t him. It wasn’t him. The puck felt his
shoulders shudder as the crippling sensation of loneliness began
to encompass him, his breathing reaching shrill levels as he
dreaded the thought of meeting a stranger.
The air grew even colder, his fists tightened fiercely as his
muscles began to tense, the freezing mists practically pulsing
around him. With back was facing the group approaching from
behind, the puck felt his neck creak in their direction.
       Silence.
With each inch that his head turned....patches of frost creaked
across the cave. The very air became saturated with the
crippling cold, and chilling silence of the boy as the very
atmosphere became encumbered with a an indescribable weight.
Frost spread, swirling violently across the cave before stopping
directly at the search parties feet.
The ice sizzled, the temperatures so low that it almost appeared
as if the rockitself was burning. The visage of the teen met the
gazes of Zephyrus’ party, only for them to be greeted by
       something unnatural.
Deep, pulsing red irises stared back at them as Sprites fangs
began to break into a sneer, a putrid shadow encompassing the
rest of his body as all light seemed to be sucked from the
environment in one fell swoop. The mist rippled, the ice around
be puck’s feet cracking as his hair began to jut unnaturally
from the raw power that began to ooze from his form. Any breaths
that the boy made became masked by the overwhelming pressure
that his form gave off, the sheer determination and willingness
to slaughter them all exploded into the atmosphere like hot
knives, daring them to say anything or take one simple step
       further.
       Absolute silence.

Heathcliff noted the dust around the area, along with the
abandoned Moldbygg nests, was not natural. Zephyrus sneezed as
Oswin looked on disgusted. The dust wasn't recent, but the dust
was recent enough to still have the stench of dead magic. As
they approached the giant crystal formation, that's when they
all felt it. They first felt it getting colder around them. The
chill of the air. The frost creeping around the area. Then, the
ice starting to form on the ceiling. Stalactites and Stalagmites
       freezing from the sheer cold.
Heathcliff looked at the puck, and met his gaze. The gaze of a
cold-hearted killer. Zephyrus felt the flames on his sword go
out as the room's air was sucked in by the cold. Their gaze
lowered, and Heathcliff looked onwards as Sprite's gaze darkened
and a sharp toothy grin formed. A gaze of determined slaughter.
A smile of pure and unfettered Calamitous hatred. He
instinctively raised his shield, fearing what would happen next.
"Zephyrus, I don't think that those snapping rocks were a
coincidence... Look at this place. It's filled with the stench
       of dead magic."
Oswin sniffed, and nodded, before snapping his shield into
       position, and grabbing a spear.
"I don't think we stumbled upon an accident... I think we
stumbled into a murder field. Zephyrus, trust your instincts,
this might be the fight of our lives."
Zephyrus lit his sword ablaze again, this time the fire was
hotter, and brighter as it took in Zephyrus’ own magic as well.
       He growled a little.
“Alright then, gather up. We only fight if necessary.”
Zephyrus turned to Sprite as all three turned and drew their
fighting stances. Heathcliff with a defensive stance behind his
shield and his axe drawn, chain around his arms. Oswin has his
shield deployed in a manner similar to those found in the Royal
Guard, and had his lance to his side, ready to strike. Zephyrus
faced Sprite, sword glowing white hot with flame, and shield
pulsing as magma filled the cavities inside his shield.
“Listen, kid, I don’t know what you’ve done to this place. And
honestly, I don’t care what you did. What I do care about is
what happened here. Now, I am not calling you a murderer, but
seeing all this evidence in front of me does not put pleasant
       images in my head.”
He slammed his shield on the ground, melting away the frost and
ice approaching them by heating the ground.
“We’ll give you one chance. We’re tired, we’ve had a long day,
and we don’t want a fight, but, if we have too, we will. Just
please, turn around and leave or let us help. We don’t want any
       trouble here.”
       [hr]
Lance chugged down another Sea Tea, boosting his speed, and ran
forwards as he and Roy made it into a Residential area.
Elroy walked up to an Aaron.
“Sir! Can you help us? We’ve got a situation near the Mines.
It’s close by the old Moldbygg nesting grounds. We think someone
       might be in danger.”
The Aaron scoffed, before turning and leaving.
       “I have a flexing competition in 15 minutes, I won’t be late.”
Lance walked up to another resident.
“Hello, yes, we need help. We believe there might be someone in
danger near the old Moldbygg residential area, can you possibly
       help?”
The citizen shook their head, motioning to their house, before
       leaving.
Lance turned towards the way to Undyne and Mettaton's house,
       before a Woshua stopped him.
"I heard Undyne went out to see friend. Won't be back for a
       while."
       Lance groaned.
“Ugh, why is everyone somehow preoccupied?!”
“Is there anyone around here who can help out our brothers?!”

Silhouettes danced across the cavern walls, and a fuchsia hue
glared on the water's surface. Its source came from the bank,
hovering in the sight of electric blue, steely eyes. The light
source warped from it's spherical shape. Thinner and thinner it
spread like a drop in a pond, until a paper-thin needle of
almost white levitated between the hands of it's caster.
       And then the light vanished.
"Damn it!" Echo snapped, kicking up the water which her feet
dangled into. She had been so close that time! It had frustrated
her enough that her magical abilities weren't quite where she
wanted them to be - she couldn't conjure anything free from her
body aside from spheres. She could've sworn she used to pick
things up way quicker than she could now.
Then again her magic had been trial and error since Helios
       drowned...
Noises behind her suddenly peaked up and she groaned. There was
a reason she'd chosen this pool at this time of day, and that
reason was just snatched from her. Echo swung her legs out of
the water, picked up her shoes beside her, and made to head off.
That was until she heard something about someone in danger. She
froze and snapped her head towards the voice in the residential
area. She was still too far away to make out who exactly said
that, but her attention was caught regardless. Danger? What kind
of danger? It wasn't surprising, danger was becoming familiar
for a lot of people around here with floods and quakes going on.
As she shook the water off her feet and slid her shoes back on
it all unfolded. Two of them needed help with one thing, and
from what she heard Undyne couldn't even help. If she was called
it had to be serious. Without the Captain of the Guard, things
       would surely turn sour.
Would Echo even be the right one to help? She had barely any
context to know what was up, and wasn't known for being nosy or
even social. Echo was a withdrawer. Very fews things would grab
her attention enough for her to get involved.
Those last two groans made up her mind for her. Way to bring
       guilt onto me, guys.
Echo sauntered up to the pair of them, lifting up the little
chest she had and folding her arms. She still looked tiny as her
oversized denim jacket swallowed her up. "You two seem
desperate. Is someone dying, or something?"

"...Just who the hell do you think you are?"
The temperature continued to drop, the teen's lips curling over
his teeth as he sauntered a bit forward. "Neither of you are in
any position to be telling me what to do. Your terms mean
nothing to me. I refuse. I'm not going anywhere. I'm waiting for
someone, and that someone isn't either of you."
It was so common for others to try to order each other around.
They had no idea who he was, or what he had done, or the power
he had gained. He paused for a moment at the sight of the fire,
but soon began to chuckle through his teeth. He remembered the
threat of heat. A weakness from the past. He had outgrown that,
       he was no longer weak.
"...Do you think that will be enough to protect yourself...?" he
practically purred, his grin widening, quite reminiscent of
flora of the past. "You have no idea what I'm capable of."
"You didn't even notice me right next to you did you?"
Zephyrus would be able too feel the bitter cold crawling against
his face for just a fraction of a second, a pair of blood red
irises staring into his soul, inches away from his cheek.
However, as soon as he would come to, Sprite would be standing
back to where he was before, a safe distance away, crossing his
arms as the mist circled his body like an aura.
"I think it's evident who's really letting who live, wouldn't
you say?" He laughed, ice shards beginning to dance around him
as he greedily took in the pair's expressions, their reflections
shining off the shards of ice. "Now unless any of you know
something about a yellow flower, it would be wise to consider
your options. So... what's it going to be?"
The puck's eyes shot past them, a sudden faint light
illuminating his features a bit better for the rest of them to
see. The darkness flickered away, only to reveal Echo's arrival.
While her light had been shed on this dark cavern, it wasn't as
symbolic as it seemed. In fact, Sprite only began to laugh,
holding his head between his bangs as his teeth flashed. "No,
nobody is dying yet. That remains to be determined. Maybe one of
you would like to help me find out?"

Zephyrus felt the cold chill up his neck and on his face, and
       snapped around quickly.
He found nothing. He turned back to find the puck standing ahead
of them once more. His flames started growing hotter as he faced
Sprite. He knew he had to be brave to defend his friends. But he
also knew that this new foe was far stronger than he was.
He listened, waiting for something to respond to, before seeing
his eyes for a second as he asked his questions.
       "A... Yellow flower? I'm... sorry, I don't think I know of who
you're referring to. Only the King has grown any Yellow Flowers
for the past few years now..."
As he listened to Sprite's yelling, he felt the hatred coming
from his soul... and yet... at the mention of the flower,
Zephyrus felt something else... sadness. And a small sense of
       loneliness.
Zephyrus's flames started to die down as he noted how Sprite was
really only acting in defense against the three of them. He was
only trying to find a friend, and here came three complete
strangers who just threatened him, and now he was ready for a
fight. They just assumed the worst.
Zephyrus sighed, sheathed his sword, and holstered his shield.
"Well damn... It's probably too late for me to say anything
right now, but uh... sorry. I let myself get carried away. We
assumed the worst, and it was wrong of us to do so..."
Oswin laughed a little, before letting his spear dissipate into
       magic.
"As per usual, you never let your brain do the talking, do you?"
Heathcliff let his shield fall, but was still wary of the look
Sprite was giving them. He slung his shield on his back, and
started wrapping up the chain around his arm.
Zephyrus nodded, before turning to Sprite after hearing his
       question.
Zephyrus walked forwards, extending his hand in friendship.
"As we said, we're deeply sorry for assuming what happened here.
You are obviously distraught about something, and it was wrong
of me to assume the worst. So, if we can, let us help you.
That's our job, we just want to help."
       [hr]
       Lance sighed in relief.
"Oh thank goodness, someone that can help."
Elroy nodded, before he opened his mouth.
"So, you know that area where the Moldsmal nests used to be?
That one that is supposed to be haunted? Well, we heard loud
noises and rocks cracking, and more loud noises, and cold
things, and we think someone might be trapped there, and three
of our friends went to investigate it, but we think we might
need more help, and Undyne isn't here, and none of the people
here want to help, and are you available to help us out, we
probably could use the help, we could totally use the help
because 5 people isn't nearly enough people to help out someone
trapped under a rock fall, and-"
       Lance shook his head.
"Roy, slow down, you're gonna embarrass yourself."

Prior to what is transpiring, a loud mouth cheetah decided to
spend his days visiting Waterfall to cool down from his usual
antics, the monster allowed water droplets to soak his fur, he
would stick out his tongue to get a taste of why the water lives
up to its namesake. it was okay at first, bitter on the
aftertaste but nonetheless safe to drink. He stared quietly at
the large pool of water accumulated from the tunnels, the
temptation to dive in swelled up inside, it dissipated quickly
when he heard voices nearby, naturally it prompted an
       investigation.
Gust zoomed off relying on primal instincts to track down those
voices, from what he can gather it sounds like a group of people
is looking for someone, he stumbled upon them eventually and
wisely kept a distance, without knowing if they can be
trustworthy. He followed them from a distance silently, trying
to pick on more of these conversation, another voice echoed the
area, it belonged to someone he havent heard since the Flowey
incident and wished he didn't hear any time soon, before long
the ice puck himself came into view, the mere sight of that
white haired menace caused him to sneer in anger.
"Sprite..", bad memories surfaced, he remembered trying to help
the young lad and all he got was a beat down and a spit in the
face, he should have known he was the kind of person to relish
the death of others, its sickening he even knows this guy, he
also tried to kill his girlfriend and he will never forgive him
       for it.
The group appears to be in a battle with the freezing cold
fiend, an opportunity for him to provide backup if needed, the
cheetah speed off towards them standing idle in parallel to the
group. he knew first hand how dangerous Sprite is in combat, he
is not to be taken lightly."Ya got some pretty big cajones for
comin' back." he stood tall with clenching fists, giving the ice
wielder a violent glare, no more wisecracking humor, no more
games, this time he is going down!

The further Roy's ramble went on the wider Echo's eyes got. She
was lucky she was able to catch all the info that she did, but
just to be safe she summarised what she heard. "I think I got
it. Someone is trapped... under rocks... near the old Moldsmal
       nests, right?"
Echo analysed what she gathered. Barely anyone ever went to
those nests anymore, including herself. For her the rumors of it
being haunted didn't matter. She knew where they were and
roughly what kind of stuff went down there. Mass murder, right?
She knew to stay clear of there as soon as she was close enough
to smell the dust, and most monsters were rational enough to do
the same. So why would somebody even be there? Not that that
part was important right now. Regardless, she expected something
more than just a trapped person based on a) her knowledge of the
area, and b) everything that had been going down lately.
Looking herself up and down, she wondered what help she could
do. There was no portion of bulk on her body. Echo would be
lucky if there was some in her legs, but that would only be good
for climbing and running. Neither seemed useful in this
situation. "I guess I could cut up some of rocks with my
magic..." she thought aloud. Her hand subconsciously dug into
her pocket, fingers catching on another way she could help.
Mother's white crystal had recovered any chips she got on her
hands and feet, so a little healing power was better than
nothing. It would have to make do. Like Roy said, she was the
first person willing. Him and his friend would have to make do.
"Looks like I'm your sixth person, then," she smiled, hiding the
       fact it was somewhat forced.

Sprite...paused. His pointed teeth were exposed as his jaw was
       agape. They.... stopped.
The pressure of the room lifted a bit, the fog rolling backward,
away from the pair of monsters in front of him. He felt his
fists relax a bit, his head lowerinf as he stared to the
ground.... he had no idea who these two were... but they had
stopped and given Sprite the benefit of the doubt. Something
that he had felt was rare. They were quick to assume... but they
stopped of their own volition. It was...perplexing.
"I....uhm..." he felt his voice crack as he looked back to the
two, his eyes shuddering. That red aura... that determination...
it flickered. Something felt off. They others had been so quick
to judge, but he had never seen someone hesitate like these
ones. It had thrown the boy's (admittedly warped) perspective
       for a loop.
       We just wanted to help.
".Ah....hah..." He breathed, holding his forehead as he dug his
nails into his forehead. He felt his soul shudder.
       "........"
       "........"
       What was happening?
Were these two...capable of looking past their perceptions? Had
they been able to not assume the worst?
"Ya got some pretty big cajones for comin' back."
Sprite's head shot upward, his eyes suddenly burning. He felt
his face crack, until it shattered into an expression of pure
rage. His nails stabbed into his forehead until he could smell
the faint traces of his own dust. Tears exploded into his eyes.
A cone of cold exploding around his chest as he the pucks power
roared, ice and particles bursting uncontrollably around him as
the temperatures skyrocketed to new lows.
"You.....it had to be you..." It was Cherry and Gust that had
scolded him as such... it was Cherry and Gust that didn't
understand him. They told him his actions were a mistake.
"The way you handled that was disgusting..." she had said.
       Something snapped inside Sprite.
"WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST ACCEPT MY HELP? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE
YOUR WAY!? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS?"
An explosion of burst from Sprite's being, booming forward like
a blizzard, his eyes practically glowed as tears continued to
evaporate off his face like steam.
