Temple (Irwin Short Scene)
By: Dropkick #4 Date: December 18, 2018, 3:32 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
In Character Date and Time: Friday 20th of November, UUY1, 8:00
A.M
It started with Darkness. Irwin floating through darkness, stars
around him, and nothing of real importance.
He stared out into the dark void ahead of him. It appeared as
though nothing were ahead of him.
But upon closer inspection, he saw... himself. A version of him,
that looked exactly like him.
It suddenly started to twist, and it's body contorting to a
different shape.
It now resembled a monsterous beast, hideous to the eyes, and
bearing no resemblance to him at all.
And it opened it's mouth to try and consume him.
---
Irwin awoke with a start. He was sweating. He wiped his head,
before he shook his head.
" It was just a dream... nothing more..."
Irwin sighed as he took off his covers, and got out of bed. He
had a small shack located near the edge of the local town. His
house was sparsely decorated, and was entirely made of Stone and
Wood. A wooden desk, and wooden drawers adorned Irwin's bedroom,
and after about a few seconds of fixing the sheets, he went down
the stairs and outside. The area downstairs had a traditional
stone fire oven, piles of wood gathered from those that had
naturally fallen, and many stone tools and silverware. He opened
the door to his back area, grabbing a towel along the way. There
was a pool of water obscured by the immense amount of trees in
his backyard, and he usually used it to bath as plumbing was not
a deal he wanted, and no one could really see into the treeline
anyways.
After bathing, he got dressed, selecting a tan vest and his
usual purple pants. He went outside of his house, and after
locking up he started off towards the ruined temple.
He whistled a tune as he traveled down the wooded path through
Gravelshire into where the old temple complex was.
The temple looked as if it was a grandiose area of worship, with
statues and other adornments all over the place. Nowadays,
pillars had been toppled over, shrines desecrated, and the place
looking worse for wear.
Irwin stepped over a couple of toppled pillars before noticing a
glimmer from beneath a fallen log.
Looking under it, he saw an old and rusty metal vessel. He
quickly put the log back over it.
" Best to leave it where it is..."
Irwin continued trekking through the abandoned area, before
coming across a huge rock formation massively shrinking Irwin.
Irwin slowly placed his hand onto one of the crags
" Dad used to tell me of the legend of the Wyrm of Spirits... it
only died because it swallowed the blasts of an eruption making
a Volcano habitable for years to come... and it's corpse was
buried deep within Gravelshire's cliffs... of course that's only
legend, and dad loved telling legends."
Irwin sighed.
" If only such things were true. It would be nice to see
something as beautiful as a Wyrm of Spirits. "
He wandered around some more, findng mineral chunks like Amber
and Ruby amongst other things.
As he carried a bag of jewels and treasures with him, he made
sure to say hello to those who waved at him, and nod at those
who did not.
He finally came to his little shop, and opened the wooden door.
He placed a small crystal into a stone holding area, as it lit
up the room he was in.
He went to the glass in front of his shop, and flipped the sign
to "Open".
He grinned.
It was to be a good day.

Some later several bursts of crackles and bangs echoed from
outside, then, a flaming pink monster pushed the shop door open
with an excited shove. Fia's bright green eyes looked around,
confused at first but then quickly turned to curiosity as she
drank in her surroundings like a sponge.
"Oh! Sorry! Looks like I have the wrong place!" she quickly
apologised though with a brilliant, pearly-ehite smile as she
noticed the shop keeper. Still, rather than leaving this place
had already captivated her interest and she made her way over
closer to him to shake his hand enthusiastically, "Name's Fia!
First time in Graveshire so I just haf to visit! I'm looking for
a gift for a friend so I may as well see what you got for sale
here then!"

No less than a minute later, another figure entered the store.
Her entrance and attitude was a total contrast to the monster
before her; she was quieter and looked colder with her icy blue
skin. Compared to Fia, you could barely tell that she entered.
Echo relaxed as she went in, relieving the tension from her
shoulders and removing her black cap from her head. A smile was
briefly sent to the shopkeeper, then her gaze quickly turned
away.
She wandered around the shop leisurely, but it was clear that
she had a purpose to be here. The giveaway was her hands. One
was in her pocket, the other fiddling with the charm on her
choker. Bound by black thread, a bright pink crystal the length
of her pinkie hung from her neck.
Does he even know about this stuff? Echo thought. This subject
had been biting at her for a while, and she couldn't help but
feel insecure about it. Hopefully, at least some form of
direction would come out of this visit.

Irwin's head perked up at the noise from outside, and he tilted
his head curiously as the flame elemental entered, but he paid
it no attention as she apologized about coming into the wrong
store.
Irwin shrugged.
" It's fine. We all lose track of where we go sometimes, it's a
normal occurence."
He shook her hand firmly. If she was looking, Fia could notice
that he didn't grimace or flinch at the usual pain of touching
someone made of pure flame, and when he released her hand, it
didn't look charred or burnt at all.
" It is very nice to meet you too. I am Silvas, but most people
call me Irwin. You will find I have some wonderful wares in
here, perfect for anyone, or anything looking for something of
divine interest. "
He turned around and started to scroll through some of his
cabinets, moving boxes aside to other shelves.
" Do you know perhaps of what she likes?"
His head lowered behind the counter as he sorted through more
boxes.
" Or, perhaps you know of what her favorite color is? "
Irwin poked his head above the counter as another monster
entered the store.
He nodded his head at the new monster, as he noted her stature
and her hand twirling her charm. He noted the color of the
crystal, and made a mental note in his head as to check it when
he served her. He put the thought aside however, as he pulled
out a box and set it aside.
" Ah, greetings! I'll be with you in just a second."
Irwin moved another box aside, and onto another shelf before he
finally found what he was looking for, and he brought up an
ornate Pearlwood box with multiple jewelstones of many colors up
and onto the counter.
" Perhaps your friend may like one of these. "

The firecracker smiled brilliantly at the shopkeeper’s
reassurance, “Oh yes indeedy! It happens to me more often than
I’d like to admit, but hey, it’s a great way to meet more
monsters!” she agreed as he accepted her handshake. Whether not
Irwin had a resilience to fire, Fia wouldn’t know, for the
sentient elemental had some level of magic to her flames so that
she could make her flames and fireworks harmless whenever she
was near other monsters. After all, it would be unfortunate for
the otherwise for she would then have trouble interacting with
others or picking up objects without burning them.
After the interoductions Fia turned to the nearest item on
display and pointed at it, “Oooooh! That looks positively
flaming!” she began before tilting her head to the side slightly
with a mild look of confusion, “…but I have no idea what it is.
What exactly do you sell here?”
There was a brief pause at the following two questions before
she cast him a sheepish smile but such a smile soon evolved into
erratic movements as she pratered on, “Well, she’s actually a
new friend so I don’t know that much about her – which is
actually pretty cool because it then means I could learn so much
more about her! There’s nothing quite like meeting someone super
cooly-cool-cool-goose yanno? Have you met Riverperson before?
Like, have you even had a boat ride with her? If not surely
you’ve heard of her at least? Caaaaause if so it’s for her! I
have a sneaking suspicion that her favourite colour might be
blue though! Dark blue. Or do you think it’s a bad assumption
because it’s the colour of her cloak? I’d like to get her
something special since she’s been absolutely blazing!”
Fia’s vibrant green eyes lit up at the sight of the
jewel-encrusted box, “Holy bunsen burners that is absolutely
beautiful! Did you make it? I haven’t seen anything quite so
eloquent before!” she cheered with high praise and without
hesitation fished for her wallet from the small bag she carried,
ready to pay for it without a second thought. However, such an
excited smile soon faded to an embarrassed one. There was a
reason why she hadn’t seen something as beautiful as that box
before; and that was because she and her family didn’t exactly
have a lot of money to throw around, “Oh, um, on second thought,
I might be running a little short for something like that… maybe
you might have something smaller or of a lower price range?
Eheh?”

Echo's smile lingered as she was acknowledged, and then her
attention went to the shelves and cabinets. Reminiscence crept
into her thoughts as objects caught her gaze. Her childhood home
was once filled with many objects like these - her mother's
tastes. Many similar items Echo broke. Many similar items Echo
sold. She wondered if her mother came to this shop at all to buy
these things. And how often as well - the prices on these items
wouldn't have Echo purchasing any item for a very long time.
It was difficult to not have her attention waver when the
customer being served was so bold. She mentioned the
Riverperson, which sparked the thought of an unlikely friendship
between a character so loud and one so quiet. At least that was
Echo's judgement when she spotted the cloak associated with the
ferry.
The latest comment about falling short to buy a product
particularly caught her interest. Two customers in a shop with
shallow pockets? Echo mused to herself. [color=lightpink]In a
shop like this, what are the odds?

Irwin tilted his head.
" I beg your pardon? The gem box is no more than 15 G. "
He scratched his head.
" Maybe I should be a little more adamant about carving more
price handles... Ah well, it's fine. Perhaps I can find
something else. Most everything in this store does not go over
35 G, so maybe something else suits your needs... "
