Keeping a Promise

Three days day passed since the heartbreaking departure from the
shop, a place he considered home. Two people were his moral
compass, people he found reason to look forwad in paying alot of
visits frequently. Cinnamon who took him in and nourished him
back from near death, virtually became a surrogate mother.
Cherry an angry doofus who feed him her hard earn catch from
the lake, her spunky attitude threw a string of attraction to
Gust, reeling him in like a big furry magnet.
The cheetah pack made plans to visit a local beach for thier
next stop, the brothers are stoked about this news, all of them
outfitted themselves in apporaprite attire, all except Gust. One
reason bearig the fact he doesnt often wear much clothes to
begin with, choosing to settle on a simple attire, The other
reason he hasnt been in a cherry mood for three days straight,
why isnt he happy? During this first date with Cherry, he told
her one of his big dreams is to reunite with his family again
once he improve his own innate speed to keep up. Now that he
gotten what he wanted, there is still a big empty hole in his
heart, reminding his brain something is missing...
He needs her....
he needs Cherry..
Arriving at the beach, most of the family carried towels, a set
of chairs, and a volleyball. No need for adittional baggage to
slow them down, the point is to sit back, relax, and have fun.
The parents are plucking the seats into the surface and placing
a towel on the ground in case someone wants to lie down and
rest. Meanwhile the brothers are preparing to play a game of
volleyball, deciding who will play and who will will sit out due
to the uneven number of players.
Storm: "Heh! no way I'm sitting this one out, I've waited for
this day to finally kick your butt in volleyball Streak!" he
shined a toothy grin.
Streak: "I remain undefeated at dis game mon, you just dont have
the glow, the ball chose me"
Bolt: "Oh puleaaase, its scientifically impossible for there to
be a silly thing as a "glow" its all about skill and trajectery,
which I will take advantage of in the court!" he smugly adjusted
his glasses
Breeze: "Psssh, I can beat all of yew hound dawgs with just one
hand fixing mah hair!"he chewed his lollipop and flung the stick
in the trash can.
Gust mantained his silence, watching his bros boasting about
thier skills, having fun without a care in a world, in alot of
ways he envied them. None of them have to make a hard decision
of thier lives to leave behind any loved ones, nor suffer any
hardships on thier adventures, not that he is fully aware of.
Its frustrating to know he couldnt bring himself to talk about
his dilemma with any of them. None of them would be able to
relate...
Gust:"You guys play without me, ill join in later.." he spoke in
somber, approaching the towel on the surface to lie down.
Both parents kept a watchful eye on Gust concerning his actions,
during the past few days he hasnt acted like his happy go lucky
self, he wasnt in the mood to roam around freely nor was he in
the mood for steak and ribs, he NEVER turns down steak and ribs.
They knew whats it like to be in love.
Mom: "Honey you should talk to him, he's been like this since he
came back to us"
Dad: "It's obvious the boy is lovesick, that girl is more
important to him than we thought" he stared at the near
motionless state of his offspring.
Mom: "She told us she was his friend, why didn't he say
anything?"
Dad: "We just re entered into his life and his girlfriend
couldn't come with us, he had to make a decision that will
change his life forever, I'll do what I can to cheer him up" he
approached his son causally, footsteps pressed into the soft
texture of rich sand, he paused in front of Gust who didn't try
to bat a single eye at his old man.
Gust: ".........."
Dad: "Son, it's me your father, let's talk" he sat on the towel
next to Gust.
Gust mustered the strength to sit up, staring over the horizen.
"........"
Dad: "You miss her?"
Gust: "........." he quietly nodded
Dad: "How old are you?"
Gust: "Twenty"
Dad: "Twenty years old!? Oh man, I didn't get to see you grow
into a man!"
Gust: "I'm sorry"
Dad:"How long have you known her, were you planning to get
married?"
Gust: "No, I met her a month ago, I took her on a date so far"
Dad: "And you thought it was a good idea to leave her after
getting to know her? You bonehead, cant seem to sit still even
when your older cant ya, if you wanted to be with her all this
time why did you tell us?"
Gust: "I didn't want to make you all upset after you guys just
found me, it wasnt an easy decision to make"
Dad: "I remember my first date with your mother, I took her to
waterfall just to watch the moldsmol crawling around and we
would count how many of them are before they gassed us, -laughs-
fun little critters aren't they, you seen them before?"
Gust: Oh he has seen them alright, he was remind of their
horrible fate by the hands of Sprite via flashback, since then
he wanted to push that memory away in the depths of his mind.
"Yeah"
Dad: "Go to her son, dont lose that catch of the day that cares
about you, your a man now so its up to you if you want to stay
with us"
Gust: "You sure? what about mom or the others? are they okay
with it?"
Dad: "they'll understand, while we'll be sad you have to go so
soon, you can call us and we will come right to you faster than
a bullet train" he showed his offspring his necklace, flipping
to the backside to show a small button. "I've hidden a button on
each of your medallions, you can press it and the medallion will
act as a beacon for us to track in case of emergencies"
Gust: "I didn't know that, wait...why didn't you use it to find
me when we got separated?"
Dad: "........because I dun goofed" laughs and gives Gust a
noogie
Gust: Laughs with him on how silly it was to screw that up.
"Thanks dad., ill miss you" he gave his old man a hug
Dad: "I'll miss you too son" he returned the favor, purring with
his son to embrace their father-son moment "come visit us at
anytime you want, we'll stop by for the holidays."
Gust: "Okay..."he beans to take off running, waving his mother
and brothers goodbye. "SEE YOU GUYS LATER" he quickly left the
scene, darting his way back to the shop.
Bros: -they all exclaimed and groaned about their brother's
sudden departure, and is just as confused as their mother.
Mom: "Why is Gust leaving so soon?, we just got here to the
beach!" he exclaimed to her husband.
Dad: "Gust had already left the nest a long time ago, he needs
to reunite with his woman to be happy" he said.

As Gust made his way back to the gingerbread looking shop, he'd
find he'd run right into another monster in his rush.
The monster actually had simularities to that of Cherry, or at
least seemed to be of the same species as she was. He was mostly
orange though, with splotches of a dark brown and cream, he also
had some even darker brown stripes and a scar that went over one
eye. He had been toppled over by Gust but was quick to get back
on his feet and offer Gust a hand if he too had been knocked
over from running into the guy.
"You're quite the quickster there aren'tcha?" He asked, a toothy
grin coming to his face, again, it was similar to Cherry's. "The
name's Lekio, but most people just call me Jesh, say, you seen
any girlies around that look like my species by any chance? I
heard her song just before but she seems to have stopped
singing, I'm trying to find her so I can help her" He paused,
his dark blue eyes going to Gust's pale ones, "Think you can
help a fellow monster out?" He asked as he held out a paw to the
cheetah

The collision put a brake on his speed, bouncing the cheetah
backwards on the surface, "Oof!"he gazed at the monster he
bumped into offering the speedster a hand, he received his help
gripping his hand to pull himself up.
Upon getting a clear view of this individual, he kept quiet
enough to allow him to introduce himself, during this time Gust
took note that he shared very similar features to his grumpy
companion, are they from the same species?
He appears to be orange with stripes corresponded by dark brown
and white patterns, his body shape and faciel features matched
his own, even having blue eyes.
Essentially a "straws" version of himself as he summed it up.
"I'm Gust and no I haven't seen em" he lied while shrugging his
shoulders, technically not really when he has never seen a soda
shark in different colors nor with stripes before, for all he
knew this guy could be a different species altogether.

The shark boy seemed disappointed to hear that Gust hadn't seen
any. "Ah that's alright" He turned away for a moment, pondering,
"Hmm... Well you are rather quick, with your help I could find
her in no time" His mischievous grin was back, "What d'ya say?
Want to help a guy out? You'd not just be helping me but no
doubt will also be helping the girl, considering she may be the
lost Princess, I'm sure she could reward you handsomely for
helping me find her" he held out a paw to Gust for him to shake.
What was this guy on about? "I've heard she's possibly pink?
Could be a rumour, either way she has to be soda based of some
description, shouldn't be too hard for the two of us to find,
right?"

This isn't good, based on his description, it sounds like this
guy is looking for Cherry, but why?
He mentioned that she is a princess of some kind who gotten lost
and that's the reason why he is searching for her. It's hard to
believe the term "princess" and Cherry would exist in the same
sentence, no way in hell that girl would be royalty given her
demeanor.
This guy sounds pretty delusional however it could have some
merit to his claims, for one Cherry never told him about her
past nor does she look anything like Cinnamon as if they aren't
related at all.
He couldn't just let this guy in the shop for he is a total
stranger, he doesn't want to risk it when he could be a
potentioal danger to Cherry and Cinnamon.
"What do you plan to do when you find this princess?"

The shark boy flexed an arm, giving Gust a wink, "First off,
help her, she probably hasn't seen anyone her species in years,
second of all-- Woo her, there's no way she wont be able to
resist-" He made a gesture with his hands to suggest himself,
"All-a this~ Plus, it gives me a title I'm worthy of, Prince,
and soon-to-be King " He seemed to really like the sound of that
"I bet she's not even seen a male of her species, poor girl,
right? She could really use the help, she must hardly even know
who she really is--" He seemed to pause for a moment, as if
something else had caught his attention, whatever it was made
him smile. "Think you can give me a lift spot chops? I can hear
her song once more! It's that way!" He pointed, much to Gust's
displeasure, riiiight towards the direction of Cherry and
Cinnamon's shop.
If Gust chose to listen, he wouldn't hear much of anything at
all, maybe a sound on the wind, but certainly no singing.

Yup that did it , this guy certainly rubbed him the wrong way,
hitting on his woman how dare he!? the only song he will here is
his own eardrums once Gust gets a hold of him! No one will lay a
finger on Cherry as long as he is still alive and kicking, and
boy is he going to kick someone's ass to kingdom come.
"Sorry pal, you wouldn't be able to score points with her, she's
already taken" his voice dropped it's goofy tone.

The grin on the shark boy seemed to drop when Gust's tone did,
he looked at the cheetah, cocking his head slightly as he took a
step closer to the other monster, sizing him up to be
intimidating, "Oh huh? Is that so?" His smile slowly grew back,
"So you do know who I'm talking about then, Mmm? " He gave a
scoff of a laugh before shaking his head, "And whom might I ask,
is she taken by? Cause I assure you, I'm much better then any
guy she's ever seen" The fin ears that the other boy monster had
seemed to flare out aggressively at Gust, somewhat similar to a
frill necked lizard would do.
"Don't tell me a scrawny little liar like you has fallen for
her~ Oh please"

He slightly looked upwards to meet him eye to eye, he stood his
ground not willing to back down. Fists clenched so hard his
claws are pinching his skin . his happiness is on the line and
he wont let some punk take that away from him!
"That's right, she's mine and I won't let anyone stop me from
going back to her "

A chuckle rumbled at the back of the semi-aquatic monster's
throat, he seemed impressed slightly though at Gust not backing
down. "Say- Gust was it?" He began to circle around the cheetah
slyly, his eyelids drooping down to about halfway and a mocking
grin filled his face as he looked off towards where he had
pointed the song was coming from.
"If that's true, why aren't you with her?"
He glanced back to Gust with the eye that wore a scar over it,
his grin growing wider, "Going back to her huh? Oh don't tell me
you--" He circled more, similar to a circling shark in water, or
how a wolf would. "Left her, all alone" He put on a fake pouty
face, slinging an arm around Gust's shoulders and pulling him in
closer, pointing a finger into the fur on Gust's chest with his
other hand.
"You may have spoken to her before I, but I for one won't leave
her as you have seemed to, who do you really think she'll choose
if it came down to it, Spots?" He scoffed, "You? A monster of
different species? A monster who she no doubly trusted- only for
you to leave her-- Ouch, Buddy" He chuckled again, but it grew
up into a laugh, "Big sting in our species, just a heads up~" He
let Gust go, cracking his knuckles as he turned his back to the
cheetah.
"I think it's pretty clear she'd choose me over some monster
like you, so do her a favour, and lead me to her Hmm? Maybe then
she'll actually want to see you"
