Re: Promises Unkept
By: Gust Date: December 19, 2017, 9:35 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The parent duo looked downwards at the young girl appporaching
them, a mist of confusion invaded there mind, they spotted a
bowl containing Gust's favorite dish, what for? The girl
appeared to be nervous introducing herself and she had a right
to be, the mother briefly shot a wary look towards the child and
the father simply raised an eyebrow. Both parents threw away
their skepticism when she talked about her taking good care of
Gust.
Dad: "you got yourself a girlfriend son? My boi! I couldn't be
more proud!" -he turned to gust giving him a hi five.
Gust: zipped towards cherry slugging an arm around her. "Yea, we
go waay back, she stuck with me through thick n thin, aint that
right straws?" he grinned.
Mom: "Aww you gave her a pet name, how adorable!"she shook
Cherry's hand in return. "Nice to meet you hun, I'm Gust's mom,
this is my husband and these are his brothers" she possessed the
eyes of an easy going yet caring mother.
[glow=orangered,2,300]"OHHHHHHHHHH!"[/glow]
With the exception of the hair obsessed cheetah, they scrambled
over to Cherry staring in awe of her hair piece with each of
them trying to poke said object, Various amounts of chatter
split among them. as they surround the soda shark in a circle.
Bolt: "This is phenomenal, how could you grow a straw on your
head?"
Storm: "Can you squirt soda out of your head!? are you a soda
monster?"
Streak: "Yo dat is so cool mon, are ya drinks refreshing and
fizzle?"
Gust: "Hey knock it off!, ya gonna scare her away!" -he waved
his hands toward them group as if to say -Shoo Shoo-
The mother couldn't help but giggle at their curiosity, despite
their different personalities one thing they all had in common
is their enthusiasm. she looked at the time on her watch,
realizing they had to get going soon, she turned to the bunny
standing at the shop, she will never forget the one who took her
boy in and treat him like family.
Mom:"Thank you so much for taking care of Gust for us ma'am, I
dont know what would've happened to him if you hadn't been there
for him, and same goes for you too young lady" she complimented
Cherry.
Dad:"Time for us to head on outta here, we gotta get going
before the sun goes down, lets go kids!"
The brothers did what they were told and zoomed over to their
parents, before they took off they waited for Gust glancing
behind their shoulder.
Dad: "Cmon Gust, bring your girl with you and lets go!"
Gust:".........."
Gust was hesitant, he looked back over to cherry, unto his
family, then back to Cherry, he knew he had to no choice but to
make a decision that will chane his life forever.
Stay behind and be with Cherry? or go with his family and leave
her behind for good? this is tough, it didnt matter what he
picked, he would lose one thing he cherishes, it was a win lose
situation. After he though long and hard, he finally made a
descision..
he had to leave.
Gust: "Cherry" he spoke her name in a somber tone, there wasnt a
hint of goofyness he usually had in his speech. He looked into
her eyes taking both her hands. "Thank you so much for
everything, both you and cinnimomma for keeping me on the right
path, for feeding me, and for being there for me.." a hand is
placed gently on her cheek, "I have to go.......for real this
time.." he smiled.

Cherry stood nervously with her tail between her legs as Gust's
parents looked down on her, she could tell they where deciding
what they thought of her, judging, she couldn't blame them,
being Gust's parents and all...
When they gave their looks, she looked away, gulping lightly, it
was probably best to not look.
When his father finally spoke up, Cherry's fur stood on end and
she went a bit red at being called Gust's girlfriend. "I!-
Errr!-" Gust putting an arm around her cut her off, she couldn't
help but to smile lightly. "Pfffft, Yeah I guess we kinda do
huh?" She'd pout soon after though at his mum pointing out that
'Straws' was a pet name, but she still shook her hand, so that
was good. "It's nice to meet you too"
When the brothers, except from Breeze surrounded her though,
she'd go a little wide eyed, her fur on end again as they poked
at her straw and questioned it. "I uh- Well sorta?- Gust seems
to think they're refreshing- I think, aheh" Gust came to her
rescue though, shooing them off. Cherry would fix the position
of her straw in the meantime after all the poking, giving a
light laugh, they where kinda like Gust, he certainly was just
as fascinated in her straw for one thing when they first met.
"You where just as bad, yanno~?" She'd say, nudging Gust.
When Cinnamon was thanked for looking after Gust by the other
mother, she forced a small smile, she couldn't manage a full
one. She knew what was coming next and she knew it was partly
her fault that it was coming. "I-..It's no worries, he's welcome
ho-here, he's welcome here anytime" She would say back softly,
rubbing one of her arms as she looked away. She didn't want to
watch what was coming next.
Then came of course, time for them to go. When Gust's father
said to bring Cherry, the sodashark started to catch on to what
was going on. She held up her paws, beginning to tremble. "I
can't leave Mumma here all alone, I'm sorry.." She watched, as
Gust looked between his family and her and Cinnamon, deciding.
She felt herself swallow a breath as he did this. He was
deciding who to go with. In the end, he had made his choice.
When he approached her and said her name, Cherry could feel her
face begin to get hot, but not in the way it did when they where
tied together, or when he teased her, it was in a way that made
her eyes sting and swell with tears.
She knew, based on his lack of Gust goofiness, that he was being
serious. She looked him in the eyes as he looked at hers and
took her hands in his, but would close her eyes when he placed a
hand on one of her cheeks, a tear or two escaping her and
running down her cheeks as he said he had to go.
She jerked her head to the side to try and hide them, raising a
paw to push them away, ignoring them, as she nodded. "I
understand" She said slowly back to the Cheetah. Opening her
eyes again, she'd look back at him, hardening her expression to
try and keep herself together.
If it hurt to see him go the first two times. It killed her to
know he was leaving for good this time.
As much as he pushed her buttons at time, as much as he so
easily got her mad, she didn't want him to go, home had never
felt more like home since Gust came by, he fitted a hole she
never knew was there. She sure knew now.
She didn't want him to go. But she knew his mind was made up and
that he had been looking for his family for a while and it would
be wrong for her to keep him from them. Before he could go
though. Cherry would put her arms around him, resting her chin
on his shoulder in a tight, meaningful hug and whispering,
"[sub]You're always welcome back, you know? I-if you ever wanna
and stuff.. Look after yourself... Please..[/sub]" She would hug
him a little tighter before finally letting him go. Managing a
light smile, but it was a sad one. "Go" She'd put a paw to his
chest, "Follow your Dream, Gust, I know you'll get there, now
go, you wouldn't wanna keep em waiting" She'd say, as she drew
her hand back and hung her head down.
She didn't want Gust to see her sad, he was making the right
choice and was finally with his family again, which was a good
thing and something she should be happy about for him.

He wrapped his arms around Cherry in return for as long as he
could. it became harder to let go, to let go of the fun times
they had together.
"I will miss you straws, I'll never forget our adventures, our
time together, this is goodbye.."
He nuzzled her face and turned to Cinnamon waving his hand
"Goodbye cinnamomma, your the best momma one could ask for,
thank you for saving my life those months ago, I'll never forget
your kindness," he smiled, his tone continues to be somber.
With that he departed away with his family being the last one to
trail behind the group, if one were to pay close attention,
drops of his tears blew in the wind.

Cherry would hold onto the hug as long as she could as well, her
paws gripping and gently clawing at his back, Gust might've been
able to feel her shaking lightly as well. More so when he said
that this was goodbye.
"[sub]I don't want to say Goodbye[/sub]" She would say softly
back, "I-I'm sorry for any mean stuff I said in the past. Please
don't let this be goodbye! I-" She would fall silent, enjoying
the nuzzle, nuzzling him back even, giving off a soft, and a
very sad purr of her own. "[sub]Please..[/sub]"
She let him speak to Cinnamon though, whom wasn't fairing much
better about the whole situation herself, she waved back to Gust
though. "And we'll never forget you or your charm, Gust, Dear,
you're always welcome back, please remember that...".
"Gust I...- " As Gust started to leave, Cherry didn't know what
to do. She tried to hug onto him again, but he just slipped
through her fingers, she was too numb to really hold onto him
again. She stood there and watched, quivering as the cheetah and
his family disappeared, a paw still extended out to where he
last was. "G-Gust?" She saw him go, but called his name anyway,
catching one or two of the tears in the wind the family left
behind. "Gust!" She knew he was gone, but it didn't stop her
heart from wanting him back. Calling to him. She would fall to
her knees and would clutch at her chest. He was gone now, she
didn't have to worry about not wanting him to see her cry. And
cry she did. She had wanted to tell him how she really felt
before he left, but it wouldn't be fair of her to make his
choice harder to decide.
Cherry grabbed at her shirt, gripping it tightly while her other
hand supported her by pressing against the ground. It hurt. It
ached already. She couldn't bare it.
A small paw would gently grip her shoulder, Cherry didn't need
to look back to know it was Cinnamon, she would turn back and
simply put her arms around the bunny, whom hugged her back.
After a while of hugging, Cinnamon spoke up. "We need to go
inside my little berry" but Cherry didn't want to move, she sat
there with the bowl of steak, ribs and BBQ sauce in her lap.
"He'll be back someday my Dear, I know he will...." Cinnamon
would rub her back lightly, before gently running her hands
through Cherry's hair, beginning to almost silently sing a
little tune that Cherry knew very well to help clam her down.
It was too quiet for anyone else to hear though.
"Come on. Let's get you inside now." The bunny would help Cherry
to her feet, holding one of her hands as she would lead her back
inside the shop. Leaving the bowl outside as Cherry used her
free hand to cover her face.
Once they got back inside though, she simply burst into even
more tears, her whole body shaking as she started to hiccup from
crying so much.
Cinnamon would sigh lightly, sitting up on the counter top,
letting Cherry cry as she needed to.

"So... Hes off then?" Up in the rafters, Cole sat cross legged
for a moment before hopping down, falling slowly. He burped.
Silly boy drank some of the levitation juice again. He was
always one to have a craving for it because it tastes like
caramel banana icecream, which he loves. He burped again.
"S'cuse me."
Cole flicked Cherry's straw after approaching. "His dopey ass
might run on ahead all the damn time, but lemme tell ya one
thing he does just as often." Taking a deep breath, he got
himself to eye level with Cherry. "He always comes back."
Whipping his scarf back over his shoulder, Cole stood up
straight. "So whats it gonna be, dweeb?" He held out his arms,
indicative that he was accepting either a hug or a smack in the
face. "You gonna get into the Royal Guard and impress him when
he returns or nah?"

Upon hearing Cole, Cherry would quickly raise her paws to her
face and would try to wipe away any tears that still tried to
escape, at the same time as this, she tried to also calm herself
and look like she was better then how she actually felt at the
moment. Kinda a silly thing to do in this case, as they'd known
each other long enough that it was still probably very obvious
to Cole on how she actually felt.
She did look up when he flicked her straw though, giving off a
grumble, "I just fixed that" She looked aside up until Cole was
eye-level with her, upon which she looked at her friend.
He did have a point.. Gust had always came back, but would he
this time? When? It hurt to watch him leave. "He said Goodbye
though.." She hugged her arms. "He didn't say goodbye last time,
he wasn't with his family last time either" The more she thought
about him the more upset and angry she felt herself get. Why did
she have to have these feelings for this guy that left all the
time. "He's a dork.. I don't care.." She lied. before choosing
to focus on Cole instead, he had his arms out and he always
seemed to know what to say when it came to her, both to push her
buttons, and to cheer her up.
Cherry smiled and would take Cole's held out arms as a hug, not
a smack, she'd rest the cheek that Gust had touched against
Cole's scarf, closing her eyes. "You think that'll impress him?
I mean- I wanna even if it doesn't but- Wait, I thought you
thought the Guard was stupid?- Mmph" She'd let out a frustrated
sigh, staring down at the floor. She was trying hard not to
think of Gust, and to be happy for Cole , he called her dweeb
and everything. But it was still obvious that this still bugged
her a lot...
Cinnamon seemed to perk up a fair bit at Cole showing up, she
would let him talk to Cherry first though, as he did, Cinnamon
ran round her counter and pulled out a second bowl, similar to
the one Cherry had, but instead of steak and ribs and sauce in
it, there where caramel candies, did she have bowls of
favourites for everyone close to her under that counter?
Probably.
She would set it up on the counter, leaving it out for Cole, for
now though, she herself, remained quiet.

"Family? That sorry ass bunch?" Cole's head tilted in a manner
that would imply he was 'rolling his eyes' at the thought.
"Pfft. Please. By birth maybe. Full offense meant by the way; if
they ditched him to begin with, then they're losers." It would
be quite clear to Cherry and Cinnamon that for all the supposed
'fire' that Cole was throwing verbally he was still holding back
on the roasting engines. A lot.
A whole hell of a lot.
For all of his 'edgy aloof tough guy' attitude, Cole had always
been surprisingly good at hugs. "If you somehow haven't already
on your own merit then shit yeah, of course!" He snorted. "Okay?
So what if I think the Guard is stupid?" He let that statement
sit for a while. "Just cuz I don't like 'em doesn't mean you
can't like 'em." Soon enough, the enigmatic elemental had one
wide cheeky grin. "Besiiiiides, when you join their ranks it
toooootally gives me the right to call you a double dorkburger
with extra sneeze! Hehhehehehe~"
Out of the corner of his perception, Cole noticed Cinnamon
bringing out the caramel candies. He gave a light wave at the
sight of this and tilted his head towards Cherry; this was an
obvious signal of 'thanks, but those can wait'

Cherry looked a bit surprised with how Cole spoke of Gust's
family. But he did have a point. They had left Gust behind, they
knew he was slower and still ran off ahead without him.
Like he had with her. It was probably the only time where he
actually wasn't left behind by someone important to him. "I.. I
did think about that but.. He always talked about em, he sounded
so home sick and I didn't wanna take him away from them if he
wanted to be with them so badly.." She looked aside again, but
more angrily then upset this time. How could they leave him
behind like that? He was the youngest and talked so highly of
them...
"Big losers.." Cherry agreed finally, giving that angry pout
that Cole had probably seen plenty of times before.
"I shouldn't of let him go"
Cherry put her paws to her face again, but not before smacking
one to her forehead. "I'm such an idiot, why couldn't I of just
said what I was gonna.." She gave a groan, slumping her arms by
her sides and dropping her head on Cole. She wasn't good at this
love thing. Stupid Cheetah.
As much as the two picked on each other, Cherry silently loved
Cole's hugs, though she figured he probably already knew that.
She would scrunch up her muzzle a little on the Guard talk. Cole
was right again, of course.
When he cracked that wide grin though, Cherry tilted her head as
she looked at him, and sure enough- "Heeey!" She couldn't help
but laugh though, she tried to stifle it though. Which caused
for an even more scrunched up expression from his friend.
"Y-yeah! Well.. Psh!" She was a bit caught off guard since Gust
leaving had left her a bit scrambled. She crossed her arms in a
huff, trying not to smile. Dorkburger. Extra sneeze. "How'd you
come up with that one you big.. Doof" It was kinda hard to
'insult' him when he was just making her happy in a time that
was making her so sad. "No fair" She pouted. Cole tended to win
these kind of things either way though, but he was a lot more
level-headed then her.
Cinnamon would nod when Cole gave his wave and head tilt,
understanding what he was getting at. She would put the candies
back, saving them for him for later.
The banter between the two was uplifting though, and enough for
her to finally speak too.
"I.. Honestly should of thought about that as well, how he was
left behind.. Before inviting his brother to stay like that...
I-.. I didn't think they'd take him away, I thought it was the
right thing to do to invite them, for Gust but.." Her big rabbit
ears would droop down, the tips hanging lazily on the floor
behind her.
"I'm sorry. But. Well he does always come back as Cole said" She
smiled, "I doubt this time will be much different, I think he
seems to like you afterall Cherry"
"Muuuum" Cherry went a bit red and would glance to Cole before
back at Cinnamon. "He's just a friend"
"Seemed a bit more to me~ I doubt he'll be able to stay away for
long, love does that to peopl-"
"Muuuuuuuuuuuuum" Cherry was, legit, the colour of an actual
Cherry in the face at this point.
"Maybe it wasn't the best idea to have him stay in your room
while he was here-"
"MUM. Cole'sherenotnow"
Cinnamon just seemed to giggle, she knew exactly what she was
doing, and it was helping Cherry to at least not be sad. "Why
don't you go practice with Cole or something Dear? Only hard
work gets you into the Guard afterall, did you tell him about
the liquid thing? Maybe you could practice with him on that?"
"I don't practice with dweebs" She'd stick her tongue out at
Cole before smiling, "I might make an exception this time
though, if you want anyway"

"Mmmm'yeah, whatevs. He's allowed to also be a few spots short
of a twister mat if he wants." Cole shrugged, and this time it
was spoken casually without any hint of aggression. There was no
need for it. Going by what Cherry and Cinnamon have said prior
there was also the fact that Gust-- for all his shortcomings--
the Cheetah was actually rather selfless.
"Next time just don't wait and tell him. Simple, duh." It wasn't
and Cole knew that... However, he also knew how to get Cherry to
take something seriously. How, exactly?. "Cuz I bet you if I had
something to say someone I'd totally be able to say so without
hesitation." By making it a challenge.
How could Cherry top these totally gnarly disses? Cole also had
an answer for that. "Oh yeah, you put some geekles in it. Maybe
add some mayonnerd too." Cole seriously wasn't being any sort of
fair about the little name-calling contest, but at least Cherry
found it funny.
Cinnamon had some input, and Cole frowned to begin with. "Don't
blame yourself for their sh--" In a crucial instant before
almost 'burning up', he remembered just who he was talking to,
so he refrained from being especially vulgar. "Excuse me...
Please don't blame yourself for their shoddy idea of a reunion."
Cole otherwise let Cherry and Cinnamon partake the typical
'doting mother versus embarrassed child' routine. Liquid thing?
Cole was somewhat intrigued. "Yeah I know, thats why you don't
like practicing alone."

Cherry couldnt help but to half-snort-half-laugh at the first
comment, twister mat, what a nerd.
The soda coloured monster would straighten up soon though... Was
that a challenge? Cherry narrowed her eyes before smirking. "You
know what ash brains" She crossed her arms and kept a rather
smug look on her face, she knew well that Cole didn't actually
burn but made the joke anyway. "Next time I see him? I will say
it, I will tell him. Hmmph" She put a foot down, if this was a
challenge she was gonna win it! If Cole would do it, she sure
was gonna try. "W-with no hesitation!" She'd begin to look a
little nervous at the thought of it. What if Gust didn't like
her back the same way? What was she supposed to do then? But..
She had to take this challenge though!
She tapped her two index fingers together shyly and chose to
focus on something else.
"Pffffft-" Cherry would give Cole a light, friendly shoulder
punch, "Knock it off you dweeb sandwhich, you're the one who's
got the most mayonnerd, luckily you also have tomateo too
though" She shook her head, Cole was better at this, but she was
smiling, "Lettuce go and- Oh now you've got me doing it!"
Cinnamon seemed a little, frightened? At Cole's ways of
responding at first, it disappeared instantly though when his
tone changed and he reworded what he was going to say. She
wasn't scared of Cole, just the way he had started to say what
he had the first time. But she was a bunny, they where easily
scared, right?
"I'm trying not to my Dear, I know it's not exactly my fault
that things went that way, I just- well, it doesn't matter now,
it can't be changed" She seemed a little extra... Timid, today,
and kept fiddling with her paws and glancing down at the potion
belt she had on still, which only held one thing on it at the
moment.
Cherry gave a huff, he was too good at this today! She'll get
him...
"Oh um, hey loser, watch this" Cherry had noticed the one potion
on Cinnamon's belt, it's colours caught her attention, and it
was almost as if the bottle was calling to her, singing out to
her. She chose to use that to demonstrate, she held up her hands
and would maneuver the bottle out of Cinnamon's belt and into
the air in front of them, using the liquid inside the bottle to
push the bottle itself, but it was struggling against it's
container, trying to escape it, as she was controlling the
liquid and not the bottle. Or was something else at play here?
Cinnamon looked scared out of her mind at seeing that particular
potion be played with like that, she seemed glued to the spot in
fright, her eyes locked with the potion as Cherry made it dance
about the air, she looked impressed with herself as she was
showing Cole something new. Cinnamon however looked on the verge
of a panic attack. Cherry was too busy to see the look though,
but the bunny gave a look of 'Do. Not. Break. That. Bottle' to
Cole if he looked.
"See this? I can do bigger though, I threw a lake at Gust on
our.. date.. Yeah that was funny, should've seen the look on his
face"
