Reunion.

It was late morning and the castle was bustling with more life
than usual today. Word of the former queen's return and visit
had spread like wildfire - monsters whom worked at the castle
were frantically pushing through their routines as quickly as
possible before she arrived.
Undyne was wearing her formal attire again. The one reminiscent
of her rank and loyalty to the king; but it was also not her
armor. It seemed to be the type worn on special occasaions with
the neatly pressed silk of silver and navy blue. Her formal
jacket she wore looked rather angular and masculine over her
black pants and boots; but it also appeared to also compliment
Undyne, given her personality.
The fish warrior sighed after checking the time as she stood
beside Asgore in the throne room. If she was honest with
herself, she wasn't sure how to feel about the visit at this
point; but what she did know was that she was rather curious to
see how things would play out. Undyne reached for the teapot and
poured a cup of tea for the king and passed it over to him.
When she spoke, it sounded as though she was continuing a
conversation with him from before, "... So I managed to find a
way to convince her to drop by for a visit without having to
resort to brute force, since, you did say by any means
necessary. She said that she would prefer to bring one or two
friends with her. Maybe she feels a bit overwhelmed returning
after all these years? I dunno." she said calmly before looking
over to Asgore. Her eye was softened, sparked with admiration
for the king of monsters, "How are you feeling? Are you looking
forward to seeing her again, or...?"

I let out a deep sigh. To smaller monsters it would seem more
like a rough wind had picked up and tried to sweep them away. "I
am fine as of now. I would also like to know who she is
bringing. I cannot allow just anyone to be nearby while we
converse. In fact the only person I would actually allow to hear
our conversation would be you, Undyne." I told her with a gentle
but stern look in my usually gray eyes. Recently they had gained
a bit more luster. Perhaps the talks with my personal butler had
helped to lift my spirits enough to induce a physical change.
There was a time when I was not aware of the change in me
physically. My mind had been at a time...lost. I squared my
shoulders then pulled at my purple cape lightly, making sure it
was properly straightened out. My royal armor shiny and as clean
as a whistle. My fingers came up to scratch lightly at my furry
chin.
"How soon until she arrives?" I asked as I allowed my eyes to
travel over to the table lined with small finger sandwiches and
my favorite teas.

Undyne slowly nodded with understanding at his words and her
heart swelled with pride at his choice of her inclusion. The
warrior paused before answering, but whether it was hesitation
or trying to remember the names, it was difficult to tell.
"It was rather difficult to persuade her to visit and in the end
shs insisted on bringing Sans or Zarc - maybe both. I think Zarc
is a member of a band of some kind, though I'm not completely
sure. Name sounds familiar though." she replied honestly before
quickly checking the time again, "Should be any minute now. I've
ordered the guards at the gates to notify us as soon as they see
her."

I thought carefully on her words before giving my reply.
"Hmm...They must be separate when we begin speaking. What I say
cannot be heard by that many ears. That should not be too much
trouble and if necessary I would like another guard to keep the
other two company. Is there anyone available to speak with the
two and keep light company? Oh wait I have someone. When they
arrive there is someone currently being catered to by some of my
servants. When it is time to separate them I will give you the
signal to go retrieve them but only after you have moved Sans
and Zarc to another room." I gave a mighty grin to show that I
was pleased with my decision.
"I am certain you can handle that correct?" I chuckled before
adding, "Of course I'd never expect anything less from you."

Undyne chuckled as well, "Hmhmhm, oh please, Asgore that's a
piece of cake." she replied with amusement; her formality
slipping for a bit as she cracked her knuckles, "Besides, if
they don't cooperate I have a plan B."

Not too long after Undyne and Asgore's conversation, Toriel
would be turning up to the gates where the guards where waiting
for her.
Toriel's soul raced as she approached closer to where she knew
Asgore was, her blood boiled at the thought of the old king. But
she tried to keep it down for now, she was not here for him.
She was here for Asriel and the other monsters of the castle and
underground.
Reaching the gates she would let out a held breath, her crimson
eyes going up to the guards.
"[font=courier]U-uh, Hello, I'm Toriel, I'm here to see Undyne
and Asgore, he wanted to see me?[/font]" She would pipe up to
them, not daring to push past them or test trying to go past
them without prior permission, it wasn't like she was in a rush
or eager to go back to the castle.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a certain short skeleton had appeared
from around the corner; hands in his pockets and a casual smile
across his face. The lights in his eye sockets seemed to have
brightened at the sight of the former queen, [font=comic sans
ms]"Hey Tori, 'gate' to see you again."[/font] he quipped
casually as he stood beside her in front the guards and gate,
[font=comic sans ms]"I'm not too late this time,
hopefully?"[/font]
Sans then stretched out his arms and he let out an obnoxiously
loud yawn; his bones creaking lightly in the process.

The guards glanced at each other as they blinked with disbelief
at first; surprised to hear that the rumours were true. They
were skeptical at first but also with Sans' greeting there was
little doubt now.
"Welcome home Queen Toriel." one of them greeted with a gruff
yet respectful tone. The pair of canine guards then bowed before
opening the gates to allow her entry to the castle.
The second canine pulled out a mobile phone from his pocket and
held it to his ear, "Undyne, she's here."

Undyne winced lightly at the unexpectedly at the beeps of her
phone and she swiftly answered it. The fish monster then nodded
before hanging up and turned to the king, "They're here." she
informed, watching him carefully.

I gave a low baritone grunt that vibrated deep in my throat for
a few seconds. "Good. Very good. Let us go to greet them all
yes?" I asked my most trusted soldier. I couldn't help the
slight nervousness that slipped into my voice. 'Don't be a
coward. Head strong- move on.' I let out a sigh through my
nostrils and nodded towards Undyne.
I could do this, keep my cool and remain level headed all the
same. I am the King of the underground and I will not show
weakness to my citizens- that now includes the former queen.
Nothing will deter me. "I am ready."

"It'll be alright." Undyne reassured as she slapped a hand to
his metal shoulder-guard and gave a friendly, light shake. She
then continued to speak with confidence and even a tone of
admiration, "Whatever happens today, it won't change the fact
what a great king and person you are. You have sacrificed and
done so much for your people and no one can ever take away your
accomplishments and who you are away from you. Heck, you have
done so much for me! I used to be some punk-ass hot tempered kid
who didn't really have much direction in my life; but thanks to
your patience and training, I have become Captain of the Royal
Guard. You are the reason why I have turned into a somebody;
someone with hopes and dreams - and I will never forget that."
She then let her hand slip from his shoulder as she walked
beside him to greet the visitors. Undyne let out a soft chuckle,
"Man, I was so stubborn back then. I think I still have the
bruises from being knocked flat on my ass so much! Ha!"
