What Did The Skeleton Say To The Goat?

Quite some time had passed since the incident in the mines and
since then no one had seen nor heard from a certain short
skeleton. That is of course, until Toriel had recieved a text
from him out of the blue saying that he wanted to meet up with
her later in the week and to wear something nice. The said
designated time for the arrangement was tonight at around
6:00pm.
Sans was late, of course, but not by too much this time. He had
suddenly appeared at the front door of Toriel's home in the
ruins wearing something a little different from the usual this
time. He wore a black buttoned-up short with the top button left
undone - partly exposong his collar bones, the usual pair of
shorts he wore everywhere and to replace his once over worn pink
fluffy slippers, a pair of less-fluffy black ones took their
place on his feet.
The short skeleton stared at the door before him for a few
minutes; frequently patting down his skull with a handkerchief
to wipe away the sweat which had appeared. He took a shaky
breath and Sans even started to silently question himself as to
why he felt so nervous. Given how many monsters in the
Underground who knew him and how many friends he had made over
the years; he has had his fair share of 'playing the game', so
it wasn't exactly his first rodeo. Sure it had been fun going on
dates every now and then but Sans never really cared enough, or
simply could not be bothered with putting in the effort to
pursue relationships with any of them.
Then again, he somehow felt different about Toriel. He had
already had his fun experimenting on what could happen in very,
very, very short term relationships in the past, but he has
gone past that stage and feeling like he wanted somethung more;
to share something with a bit more meaning with someone this
time.
Sans wasn't feeling nervous about what to do on the date, what
to say nor was he intimidated that he was about to ask the
former queen of all monster kind out.
He was afraid that he was going to mess things up.
Finally, he raised a hand and knocked on the door twice.
[font=comic sans ms]"Knock, knock?"[/font] he called out.

Not many would've heard from Toriel some time after the mines
either, aside from maybe Zarc every now and often, and even then
the visits where brief, she would keep to herself mostly within
the comfort of the Ruins.
That is until she received a text from Sans out of the blue,
wanting to meet her later on in something nice...
Toriel would be spending the time up until 6:00, trying to find
something 'nice' to wear, unsure of just how nice the skeleton
was hoping for... She did still have all these elegant royal
dresses laying about the house though. Would she even still fit
into them?
Only one way to find out!
She would find out soon enough that an old favourite did indeed
fit, a nice purple and blue with silver studding dress that
fluffed out at the hips down and had silky parts that hung
nicely around her arms. She hoped it wasn't too much, but she
didn't have anything else really to wear!
Hearing the double knock, she would rush to the door as fast as
she could go without tripping herself over in the dress in the
process. Slowing down before finally stopping at the door. Only
now did it really kind of sink in to the goat monster, to
question why, why did he want something nice to be worn? Was
there something more to this meeting then a casual drop by
filled with joking and laughs? Was it too soon a time to even be
talking to him after what happened with Flowey posing as her
dead son?
Unsure and a little shy, she would unlock the door, she wasn't
about to leave him waiting. "[font=courier]W..Who's
there?[/font]" Sans would hear in reply soon enough, the snow
white muzzle of Toriel peeking out the door first, her nose and
cheeks pink from the temperature.. Or was it from her shyness?
Her kind face would soon follow, her crimson eyes sparkling down
at Sans as she pulled the door open more so they could see each
other better. She seemed surprisingly pleased to see Sans had
also had a slight change in outfit as well.

Anticipating in seeing Toriel's muzzle to poke out first, Sans
was ready this time with a slide whistle at hand and blew into
it to emphasize her movements. He let out a chuckle and wink in
seeing her and when she pulled open the door to reveal what she
was wearing and in response a wolf whistle 'slipped' out from
the slider whistle.
Sans then tossed the slider whistle aside and replied
casually,[font=comic sans ms] "Apolo." [/font]before pausing and
finished up with, [font=comic sans ms]"Apologies for being late
milady."[/font]
He then pocketed the handkerchief before continuing with a
genuine grin; and a slight blush of blue at his cheek
bones,[font=comic sans ms] "Wow, you look great Tori. If you're
not careful I'm going to have monsters ask how did a skeleton
like me even had the slightest chance of being able to spend the
night with a lady like you."[/font] Sans added with a light
chuckle before he held out a hand to her and kept the other
behind his back, [font=comic sans ms]"So, are you ready to
go?"[/font]

Toriel would blink, fluttering her eyes at him for a moment
before blushing gently, putting a hand to her muzzle and
giggling at his wink and whistles, "[font=courier]O-oh
my..[/font]".
Her face was soon filled with a kind smile though, as the
skeleton finished his joke. Making her laugh as per usual,
although, a little less louder, as the joke was also somewhat of
an apology. She would wave a hand, "[font=courier]Oh it's quite
alright, it took me ages to settle on something to wear anyways
dear~[/font]" Toriel seemed a little flustered at the 'Milady',
not expecting the sudden formalness the skeleton started to show
her. It only got better also, as he complimented her making her
giggle again, this time longer, a little louder.
"[font=courier]You're looking pretty Handsome yourself I must
say, Sans~[/font]" Her cheeks glowed a gentle pink as she
smiled, "[font=courier]Good to see you got yourself a new pair
of kicks~" She would exclaim, as she motioned towards his new
slippers.
Some might complain the skeleton didn't dress well enough for
the occasion, but not Toriel, in all honesty, she was glad to
see him again after the break of communication after the
incident with Flowey.
The lady goat monster would gently place her hand in his
outstretched one, placing the other to a cheek as she beamed a
bright smile to him, "[size=10pt][font=courier]Ready and
raring~! Where are we going may I ask?[/font]"

Sans grinned wider, [font=comic sans ms]"Well you certainly made
the right choice, Tori, and uh, thanks. Just got the new stuff
this morning." [/font]he replied as he slipped his free hand
into a pocket in his shorts. Apparently there were pockets in
those too. He did take a moment to secretly admire her soft
white hand and touch. Whilst his own was hard and firm, his hold
which folded around hers was gentle and attentive, making sure
to not hold it in a way that may make her feel uncomfortable.
He then answered her question, [font=comic sans ms]"I didn't
exactly get around to thanking you properly for being so willing
to help me out from before; so I figured that I would take you
out to dinner. I found this quiet place in Waterfall; don't
quite remember the name but, uh, I do remember how to get there.
I guessed that you might prefer some place more quiet rather
than busy."[/font] his hand then squeezed hers lightly,
[font=comic sans ms]"Lucky for you, we don't have to make such a
long journey all the way to Waterfall. I know a short
cut."[/font]
With a wink, Toriel would feel a sudden shift in momentum; like
the two of them were racing forward at incredible speeds and the
world rushing by them in a blur, and yet, despite all of this
the pair were simply standing still while this was happening.
But a second or so later, the two would find themselves in
Waterfall, standing in front of a cute, circular gingerbread hut
which stood in a corner, surrounded by glowing plants and all
sorts of decoration.
[font=comic sans ms]"Here we are."[/font] Sans announced
casually, [font=comic sans ms]"Pretty quick shortcut,
right?"[/font]
The skeleton then lead Toriel to the establishment's front door.
He could have let go of her hand, but, he honestly really didn't
feel like it. If she, however, wanted to, she would find no
resistance coming from the skeleton. Along the way, the skeleton
was silently hoping for two things. One being, that they were
actually open for business at this hour, and two, if there were
any tables left for them to sit at. He didn't exactly go quite
as far as finding out more about the place, considering, that he
only just found it moments before meeting up with Toriel.
But she didn't need to know about that little detail, right?

Toriel would fumble her fingers gently around Sans', feeling all
of the grooves and dips in his boney fingers, although his hands
where strong and firm, his grip on her hand was gentle ad in no
way forceful or demanding. Something she secretly appreciated.
Sans may be short, but she had seen first hand just what he was
capable of, and it was not gentle. Yet he was still able to be
soft and comforting in his own way.
"[font=courier]Oh Sans, you know I'm more then willing to always
help you out whenever you need me, as where your other
friends[/font]" She would smile lightly, raising an eyebrow,
unsure if what Sans said, was really his reason for all of this.
The Former Queen had her questions but would push them aside for
now, tilting her head curiously when Sans mentioned something
about knowing a shortcut, she and Zarc had been interested in
his shortcuts! Maybe now she'd be able to see just how this
skeleton got around so quickly.
The sudden shift in momentum made her gasp lightly in surprise
as she wasn't expecting it, they felt like they where moving at
incredible speeds, the world rushing past them, but.. They
weren't moving? Soon enough though, they would be at Waterfall.
Toriel would blink in surprise and shock a few times before
shaking her head, giving a quick nod afterwards,
"[font=courier]Q-Quite![/font]" She would stutter in response to
Sans comment on the shortcut.
Toriel wouldn't let go of Sans' hand either, in all honesty, she
had missed him a bit in the absence after the events at
Waterfall, but she understood needing a break. And he was so
sweet and gentle, she had no desire to stop that either!
She would smile at seeing the cute little hidden hut,
"[font=courier]Awwww~ What a small cute place~! Reminds me
of..[/font]" She would pause, looking down at the skeleton
beside her, "[font=courier]Someone~[/font]" And like the
skeleton had done a few times, she would wink to him.
She was eager for this, glad of Sans' choice of establishment
and how he had considered the desire for somewhere less busy,
she would gently squeeze his hand to let him know she was
appreciative and excited. It had been so long since she was in a
position like this.

The door would open for the two, a bunny as short as Sans' if
not, shorter with a horn atop her head stood in the doorway,
opening the door up for the two. Inside looked much bigger then
what the outside showed. Shelves littered with potions of all
shapes and sizes and colours. A cute counter to the side of the
door and a few doors hidden to a degree in different spots on
the walls of the store along with a fireplace and a medical
table of sorts off to the side. "Hello~! Why, don't you both
look stunning! How might I help you both? Where you looking at
somewhere private for dinner~?" The unibunny's voice was cheery
and sweet as honey, she would stand aside, welcoming the two in,
they wouldn't of course be dining in the main room, but she had
the perfect room in store waiting for them at the back!

Sans couldn't help but grin a fraction wider at her comment, and
his Zygomatics also couldn't resist going a shade bluer. He
chuckled before replying with a wink of his own, [font=comic
sans ms]"I dunno. From down here it looks tall and sweet. But
hey. It kinda reminds me of someone too." [/font]
Upon seeing the unibunny welcome them Sans resisted the urge to
let out a sigh of relief, [font=comic sans ms]'Oh thank god
they're open.' [/font]he thought. So far Lady Luck has been
favourable of him winging it tonight.
[font=comic sans ms]"Yeah, thanks and that's what we're here
for. Best room you got would be cool."[/font]
Sans was supposed to be saving up to pay back the ten thousand G
he owed Grillby from all those tabs in the past, but for
tonight, it wouldn't hurt to dip into those savings, right?

Toriel couldn't help but to burst out a giggle or two at the
first part, could you blame her really though? It was so cute!
Sans always knew what to say to make her laugh.
The shop owner was similar to that of her store, short and sweet
looking!

The Unibunny would nod to the skeleton, ushering for the two to
come inside before leading them to a door to the left side of
the main room, she would pull on a specific potion and the door
would move off to the side and out of the way for them,
revealing a private venue of sorts. The room was large enough,
nothing overly huge but nothing too cramped either, giving the
two space for things to do. There was a nice, resonable sized
round table in the center of the room, draped in a lovley silky
white table cloth with two chairs at either side of the table,
candles sat in the center but where yet to be lit just yet.
Along one side of the room's wall was a wall of glass, water
over the other side of it as though it where some kind of huge
fish tank, it even had all different kinds of aquatic life in it
as well, of all kinds of colours, shapes and sizes.
There where candles in other parts of the room as well that
where yet to be lit. There also seemed to be a range of musical
instruments in one of the corners and a fireplace against the
far wall with a fluffy rug in front of it.
"This is certainly the favourite room! My apologies if it's
looking rather bare at the moment, I can change that for you in
a jiffy, all you've gotta do is let me know what you'd like me
to bring in for you~" After saying such, she would bound over,
placing a cute little bell atop the table and lighting some of
the candles, the room did have some light though, but it wasn't
overly bright and the candles where sweetly scented. "If you
need anything, just ring the bell~ also when you know what you'd
like to eat, ring the bell. That being said, may I interest you
both with a drink of some sort to start you off? Tea maybe?"

Toriel seemed very pleased with the choice of room for one
thing, she would smile at Sans, even more happier with his
choice of location. It was nice and private, somewhere sweet
just for the two of them. "[font=courier]I would love some tea~
Thank you so much, this is just lovley, you sure know how to
pick out places Sans~[/font]"

Still hand-in-hand with Toriel, Sans took a moment to take in
what he could see of the room and let out a low, impressed
whistle. A trombone hanging on the wall among the other
instruments caught his attention in particular; he might have to
remember where that was for a little later. The decor was
lovely, and while it wasn't exactly Sans' taste in decoration -
which might even bring to question what taste? Did the skeleton
ever bother to decorate? But at least Toriel seemed pretty happy
with where they were dining at tonight.
When they wandered over to the table, Sans let go of Toriel's
hand so that he could pull out a chair for her before strolling
on over to sit down.
[font=comic sans ms]"Nah this is great the way it is. Unless of
course, Toriel would like something changed."[/font] he replied
to the Unibunny in a relaxed tone; his smile as bright as ever.
When asked the question, Sans leapt at the opportunity without
even thinking twice.
[font=comic sans ms]"Ketchup-"[/font] he said quickly.
[font=comic sans ms]'God it has been so long since I've had
that.' [/font]he then paused awkwardly for a moment before
glancing over to Toriel, [font=comic sans ms]'Damn it Sans
you're not at Grillby's.'[/font]
[font=comic sans ms]"-in a wine glass."[/font] he quickly
finished.
[font=comic sans ms]'Nailed it.'[/font]
Sans then cleared his 'throat' before asking Cinnamon,
[font=comic sans ms]"So, uh, do you have any recommendations?
Like a Chef's Special or Meal of the Day sort of thing?"[/font]

The skeleton's posture seemed to relax more once the Unibunny
had left the room. His right hand rested a little further from
him on the table and his left hand gently pressed against the
side of his skull. The Sentry soon realized that he couldn't
take his eyes off of Toriel. His smile more genuine than ever.
As relaxed as he was, the skeleton could feel his confidence
climbing.
He then gave a light shrug at her comment and replied,
[font=comic sans ms]"I've been to many places. Kinda learnt to
pick out which is great and which isn't. Still, as lovely as
this place is, it hardly compares to you."[/font] he
complimented, though he did reel it in a bit, just in case he
may be a little bold too quickly and the last thing he wanted
was to make her feel uncomfortable, [font=comic sans ms]"So, out
of all the pies you've made, which one is your favourite flavor?
I'm guessing that you like to bake? If so, was there ever a
recipe that you've always wanted to try?"[/font]

Toriel would stifle a giggle as the skeleton pulled out her
chair for her before taking a seat himself, she would collect up
her dresses ruffles as she took her seat, pulling herself in
closer to the table and looking happily over at Sans. She didn't
quite understand his fascination for ketchup yet, but if he
enjoyed it, she wasn't about to judge him for asking for it!

Cinnamon would smile, she'd certainly had quite a few odd orders
before but ketchup in a wine glass hadn't been one of them! She
was always willing to provide though, and would give the
skeleton a short nod, "I can do that for you~" She would then
hold up a tiny finger, letting them know she would return in a
moment after Sans asked about a chefs special or meal of the
day.
She would return minutes later, a cute little tray in her hands
with a cup of tea, a pot of boiled water, a small glass of milk
to pour, a sugar scoop, a wine-glass alongside a big bottle of
ketchup and two menu's.
Setting the tray on the table she would carefully put all the
tea making parts on Toriel's side, the wine-glass and ketchup on
Sans' side and then gave a menu to each of them, "Meal of the
day and specials are always on the front page~ There's also a
sushi section, my speciality, as well as some other fancier
foods and your more casual, like fries and burgers" She would
wiggle her tail lightly before concluding, "Desserts are also on
the back! Remember to just ring the bell when you've decided~"
Sure enough, on the back there would be the dessert special to
stand out first, apple pie with caramel toppings by the looks of
it, along with a small menu underneath and optional side
servings like nice cream with your pie or pudding.
The Chef's special looked like a uniquely decorated sushi train
of sorts, but the sushi was made to look like things, like cute
animals.
The meal of the day was quite different though, and looked to be
a pastry of sorts that was cooked in a swirl like fashion and
had melted cheese and bits of ham in the center of it. Under
neath was the other menus for fries, burgers, steaks, salads,
all along with possible sauce options and drinks.

The goat monster would look over her menu for a short while
before blinking and looking up at Sans, noticing he was looking
at her, she didn't mind of course, and would shoot him a gentle
smile.
The former queen would place a hand to her muzzle and give a
light giggle at his compliment,
"[font=courier][color=Violet]Awwwww Sans~[/font]" She would
blush, rubbing one of her gentle cheeks as it reddened. His
questions she was thankful for, resting her hands carefully in
her lap, "[font=courier]I quite enjoy the Snail pie or
Butterscotch Cinnamon pie! I do indeed like to bake, I love to
read too~ Nothing quite like having some nice pie and reading a
book by the fireplace~[/font]" She would ponder the last
question though. "[font=courier]I've always wanted to try some
variety ones, like meat pies, meat and potato pies, cherry and
berry pies, I think it's quite wonderful just what you can out
in them! I've, never quite managed to get my hands on the
ingredients to make them though[/font]" Toriel would fumble with
her dress a little bit, looking aside for a moment before
looking back at Sans, "[font=courier]How about you? Where did
your fascination for ketchup start? Is it for only one flavour
of ketchup?[/font]"
