       Royal Reflection
By: Undyne Date: May 22, 2017, 1:00 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
It was late morning when Undyne took the kettle off the stove
once it had reached its boiling point. She was wearing formal
uniform which was a clear statement of her status as Captain of
the Royal Guard in both its design and colour choices reflective
of the monarchy. She bit her lower lip as she placed the
tea-filled kettle firmly onto a tray which also carried cups and
saucers. Her movements were strong and a little rough, though
not quite enough to break anything despite the frequent
clattering of the china. She soon took a deep breath before
picking up the tray and striding into the next room, the dining
room of which King Asgore often dined in when he was present in
the castle. The fish warrior then placed the tray onto the table
and stood up straight beside Asgore's designated seat with her
hands behind her back as she waited for the king's arrival.

A hand clad in white fur stroked a beard of gold. Gray eyes
reflected back form the mirror before them held an intense
gaze. My royal cape was carefully placed over my shoulders. I
watched my own reflection with an expression unreadable to any
who would come across it besides myself. The events that had
taken place right under my nose had struck home hard. My
thoughts were in a frenzy but I was still under control.
I turned and walked out of my royal bathroom. The tall columns
that mirrored each other in front of the door represented the
fineness of the seemingly large room. As I made my exit I turned
down the hall towards the large doors that held my dining room.
I held my arms up and pushed the doors open, my eyes falling on
       Undyne almost immediately.
       "Undyne...."

"Asgore. On time as usual." Undyne responded as she pulled out
the king's chair. Despite the circumstances she tried to smile,
but that soon faltered upon seeing that unreadable expression
upon the king's face. She quietly cleared her throat to subtly
cover up her drop of a smile before proceeding to pour the tea
into the pearl-white teacups and took a seat beside the king's.
She stared at her own reflection in the cup for a moment before
looking back up to him, "I'm sure you would have read the
reports about the recent events by now. The families have
notified me that they and their children have been doing okay,
the last crack of the fissure has been closed up and the one who
has been taken into custody is secured and no longer suffering
the initial torture the previous device has been puttinh him
through... what I wanted to know was, how are you doing and
where do we go from here?"

I offered a curt nod towards the fish woman and seated myself
in the chair she had so kindly pulled out for me. I let out a
heavy sigh when fully seated, resting my elbows on the arms of
my chair. I looked down at the tea cup filled with the steaming
liquid. It was an auburn brown but my photo receptors were
falling behind. Colors were going up in flames in my eyes.
Everything had gone wrong and I was completely unaware.
"That's...a good question Undyne." I mentally cringed at the
bite in my tone. I was furious and holding it back turned out to
be harder than it has ever been in the past; save for the war
with the humans. I knew if I attempted to take a sip of the tea
cup it would shatter in my hands. My anger made me oblivious to
my strength. "How...has...has Haruno been...what happened to
       her remains?"

Undyne cast the king a considerate look as she slowly sipped her
tea. She couldn't imagine how he was feeling about how things
had turned out, though she new a thing or two about suppressing
       anger.
"Last I heard one of the Sentries, Sans, had placed them in an
urn. So I think he may still have them." she reported formally,
"Though I've noticed that he has been hanging around the castle
lately as opposed to his usual places in Snowdin or at his
stations. Usually around the rooms Mistral could be found in but
whenever I did see him and tried to approach him he would
suddenly vanish. So I'd imagine he's still here somewhere either
to see you or the caretaker, but if he hasn't seen you yet it
       must be the latter."

I released air from my nostrils and to my surprise it was hard
enough to produce flames from the slanted holes. I cleared my
throat and gave a stiff nod. "I'll be sure to check on him to
see if he's alright in my spare time. Perhaps if I ever see him
hanging around I'll order him to reveal himself." When I spoke I
had looked at Undyne right in the eye but for my next set of
words I heatedly stared ahead. "If there's something I don't
like it's stalling from important events. He and I will talk
eventually if it is me he's after and the same thing applies if
it's Mistral." I stated, tone as heavy as steel. My gaze
flickered down to the tea once again. I moved my hand to attempt
to grab it but before I could fully touch the cup itself, the
tea boiled away leaving me with nothing but the tea cup. A sound
similar to growling erupted from my throat yet it was greatly
reduced in sound since I kept my lips tightly pressed together.
There was so many things I wished to know. Most of them I
already did know but some confirmation went a long way in fully
assuring me of everything that occured as of recent. "I...heard
Queen Toriel a-and our son...." It was far to difficult to word
what I wanted to say. "How are they?"

When Asgore looked at Undyne in the eye he was met with a bold
yet empathetic gaze in return. She didn't look the least bit
intimidated by the angered mountain king and didn't break the
gaze; blinking on occassion. She then nodded at his first
comment before replying, "Of course and I certainly agree. Time
should never be wasted or stalled."
Undyne could feel an uncomfrtable amount of heat radiating from
Asgore, leaving the fish warrior half expecting something to
combust spontaneously from the process. Still, despite how much
her body protested she didn't flinch and sat up straight beside
the king. A quick flicker of a gaze to his teacup only confirmed
for thr tea to have been evaporated suddenly. She hesitsted at
first before finally to decide to pour him a second cup of tea
and left it on the table in front of him; should there may be a
chance of it not evaporating a second time.
When he spoke again Undyne let out a soft sigh before replying
just as formally as she did before; her voice a little softer
this time. A tone rarely heard of from the guard, "I had my
suspicions whether or not if it really was her but after hearing
snd seeing how she spoke and acted; there is no doubt that Queen
Toriel has returned. She seemed to have wanted to keep a low
profile and was interested in hearing about how Prince Asriel
was coping; but reluctant in visiting the castle grounds again.
She has the impression that she is no longer welcomed and
concerned about your thoughts of her." she recounted, watching
       Asgore carefully before proceeding.
"As for your son, as mentioned before he has been removed from
the torture device and placed into a secure and much safer one.
He currently resides in an isolated chamber with the highest
security measures taken and guards constantly on watch. No
visitors have been permitted to see him without my presence. He
hasn't said a word since the transfer and we are currently
awaiting on you orders in regards to what to do next." she
contiued, "Though, I may caution that he is not exactly...
himself. At least, he doesn't act nor speak anything like you
have told me. We are still under an investigation in regards to
how, why and when this could have happened, and if it was
possible at all we could do for him to be whole again; with a
       soul."

I pressed my elbows to the table, my chin finding a resting spot
upon my knuckles. I closed my eyes for a brief moment to ponder
in silence. I couldn't possibly reveal my true thoughts
about...everything. It was only appropriate however that I was
honest even if not fully. "I...would not mind speaking to the
queen. She is always welcome here. Maybe not as my wife but as
an old friend. We could possibly have a discussion of sorts. As
ex queen if you ever see her again please bring her to me by any
means necessary. As a citizen now she cannot evade my call. I
will leave the castle myself if I must. It's important that I
       see her soon...and about Asriel...."
Without looking I picked up the tea cup and took a sip from the
burning hot liquid. It didn't affect me in the slightest. My
mouth itself was like a sauna of high degrees. My anger boiled
within me but it was beginning to cool as I sipped the brown
liquid. Tea tended to have that affect on me. I took in a deep
breath through my nostrils, chest heaving until it collapsed
when I exhaled. "As my son...I cherish him greatly but he is the
cause of many misfortunes of the underground. He will be
punished but as for visiting...you and I will accompany anyone
who has the desire to see him. He should be relocated a bit
closer to the castle for my convenience as well. I must instill
fear into the hollow entity of my son. Has...the determination
been extracted?" I questioned with genuine curiosity. Besides
where he was being held I hand't heard much about him.
I believe the worst of all of this was the fact that the flowers
I enjoyed to sit in silence with were the exact same flower my
son posessed...it gave them a surreal feel that I found
extremely uncomfortable. "On another note I'd like to request
that all of those familiar with Haruno be notified by Sans
himself since he was indeed the one who...." I trailed off
purposely as I truly did not want to say it out loud but the
words were there. 'Sans killed her.' "I believe I received a
report about a girl named Lucy who according to some of the
lower guards- they'd over heard her speaking about her. I'd
assume they were close. Have him tell her as well. Then there
was mentioning of a pearl the last time I spoke to Haruno. If
you would also get him to confront her as well...hmm." I thought
for a moment. I believe that was all who knew her. "Consider
that one of your highest priorities. Word must get out. Her
death cannot remain a secret. I'm certain just like you and I
she's affected many people's lives. If you know of anyone else
who might've known her then please tell Sans that as well...in
fact tell him these exact words."
I opened my eyes, a burning fire in their very core. I pushed my
chair back as I stood. I shook my head to shake golden locks
from my eyes. My hair was growing out and it was nearly time to
get it cut. My eyes hardened into a strong glare when I went to
speak. I was using my utmost authoritative posture.
[glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left]"You are ordered to pay your
full respects by telling all those who knew and cherished Haruno
what you've done and be sure to bring the urn where her remains
are located as well. They all deserve to know even if it wasn't
fully you who was at fault. Take. Responsibility for your
actions Sans. That is an order of the highest degree and cannot
be ignored. Have some accountability. Wasn't she your friend
too?!"[/shadow][/glow] My brows had furrowed, a deep frown
forming on my mug as I spoke. All of this was infuriating and
with each word I could feel my anger rising. Perhaps not at the
skeleton and most definitely not at Undyne but even still. I
could feel my kingly aura radiating off of me in waves. Ooops!
Maybe I'd gone too far. I blinked a few times before turning
away from Undyne altogether. "Please and thank you."

Undyne calmly rose to her feet as soon as Asgore started to list
what was to happen next. She stood with her arms folded behind
her back and tall with both pride and respect for the king as
she carefully remembered everything down to the very last
       detail.
"Consider it done, though if I may ask what your preferred
method of persuading her to visit might be, should she resist?"
she asked, already figuring out that using brute force would not
be a favourable option for anyone.
Undyne then looked at the king carefully as he spokey about
Asriel, "I will see to it that he will be moved to a closer yet
safe location for you, my King. As for the Determination, there
have been no attempts at extracting it just yet as there is
currently no safe way to remove it. From our understanding his
very essance of being alive is because of the Determination.
Removing that could potentially kill him instantly. Having said
that, an investigation into that matter is currently under way."
Undyne's posture stiffened as she listened to and remembered the
message Asgore had for Sans. Whilst she stood like an
unyeilding, stoic wall, Undyne would be lying to herself if she
didn't find Asgore's few moments of fury imposing; something
       that she highly respected.

I nodded in understanding and sat back down. I was certain to
move my cape out of the way before I seated myself. "I'd
suggest kindly encouraging her. If she continues to decline then
I will seek her out myself shall it come to that." My son
existed by the very thing that has locked us underground.
Wretched Determination. The soft spot for my son in my very soul
was overridden with a deep call to duty. My kingly duties
called for rage to build inside of me. As King it was my sworn
duty to protect and care for my people . Determination was the
       source of our deepest wounds.
"Very well. Be sure to have those in charge of him keep me
updated on the Determination he clings to for existing. If...if
necessary it will eventually have to be removed. My real son
died long ago and this menace in the form of a buttercup can't
evade that type of sentence if I find it proper for...it." I
told her with a slight withdrawal to my words. My personal
feelings couldn't interfere with justice. No matter what I could
not include personal preferences in serious decisions like this.
       No matter what.
