Over-stimulation (Flowey)
By: Sprite Date: April 11, 2017, 4:51 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Sprite threw himself to the ground of Waterfall, the same place
where they had met twice before. It was night once again,
moonlight creaking through the cracks. His hands trembled as he
clawed at his forehead, resisting the urge to scream. He had
gained power, he was satisfied, he even got to beat Gust down,
asserting his power and dominance in the situation. He had
beaten him.
Yet Sprite was terrified.
His actions, his demeanor, it was all wrong. The way he carried
himself, his personality, his originality, it had been
tarnished. He didn't feel right, it wasn't him. He wanted to
kill and gain power, but as he continued to gain strength, he
felt himself slipping into something...else.
"F...Flowey....F...Flowey help me..... please...." He shivered,
the feeling of loss overbearing as he slithered into a rocky
corner, his eyes wide, unsure.
Sprite didn't want to be alone. "Flowey...please...!"
He needed his friend.

As if on cue, another golden flower sprouted from the ground in
the middle of another bed of golden flowers. This one, in
particular seemed to have a much bolder shade compared to the
others, as well as being tipped with red at the petals and had
its petals closed over its face. When it bloomed suddenly, bits
of glowing, red glitter-like substance sprinkled the ground like
red snow. The face of the flower, was constantly changing - the
Disk Florests were rippling, shifting sequentially to form
various shapes and facial expressions. Simultaneously, waves of
red shades pulsed from the centre of the flower and out towards
the tips infrequently and red veins had stretched out all over
its petals, leaves and stem like a spider's web.
Upon recgonising whom had called him, Flowey had settled with a
and expression reminiscent of a fanged-grin and his red eyes
shined like torches in the darkness,
[shadow=orange, left]"Well look who it is, my best
friend~"[/shadow] he hummed with an involuntary malicious
tone as he licked his thorns-for-teeth,
[shadow=orange,left]"Ooooh, you've gotten stronger
I see! I thought I felt something back near Snowdin so my guess
that was you 'greeting' the locals."[/shadow]
Flowey belted out a cackle before he brushed off some monster
dust off of the puck's shoulder and watched Sprite. He soon
ceased his grin and raised a quizzical brow,
[shadow=orange,left]"What? Why are you crying?
Don't tell me you regret what you did? You were perfectly fine
with the Moldsmals and everyone else is no different. Stand up.
Don't be pathetic."[/shadow] he hissed before rolling his
eyes and rested a prickly vine on the puck's shoulder as his
false display of empathy, [shadow=orange,left]"I'm
here if you need me. Now tell me what's really bothering
you."[/shadow]

The puck felt a wave of relief was over him to see Flowey
appear. He felt himself smile weakly as the flower mentioned his
new strength. It was something he was very proud of, and he had
the courage to do it. Flowey gave him the guidance, and he
follow through. He earned it. He wasn't afraid. Yet, he found
himself with so much unease.
[shadow=orange,left]Stand up.
Don't be pathetic."[/shadow]
Sprite stopped, looking to Flowey for a moment. The tone
catching him off guard before he slowly obeyed, now looking down
towards the flower as he tried to regain his composure.
"I...I don't regret it. At all actually. I...
enjoyed it." He admitted, his eyes seemed to gloss over
as he said that, the memory of his soul gaining more power from
each kill fresh. It was such a indescribable feeling, and he
wanted to chase it. "It was satisfying. I
lured monsters in with my powers, and they called me a hero,
they acknowledged me... but I hated that. I hated it so much.
And the worst part was... I knew that's what they would do. I
knew they would come to me and thank me for what I was doing...
because I was giving them something they wanted. Flowey... I
killed them all. I was so happy. It...spoke to me." He
regained eye contact with his friend.
"But.... the more power I gained... I felt
myself slip. I didn't feel like me, I thought differently, and I
spoke differently. It wasn't the killing that caused that
though, it was the power I earned from doing it. I felt....
arrogant. I felt like nothing could stop me, and I know that
isn't true. I know there are people stronger than me and I
wanted to stop thinking that way now. It... scared me. I want to
keep gaining power and I want to keep killing, I want to
accomplish my dream, and I want to be your friend... but I don't
want to lose myself. I don't want to make mistakes... and I want
to stay me. I don't think I'm stupid... but I know I don't have
the experience to understand all this... that's why I needed
you.. that's why I called for you."
"...What should I do?"

The flower seemed calmer after hearing him explain and he gave a
genuine smile, [shadow=orange, left] "Oh? Is that all. That's
perfectly normal Sprite and you shouldn't be afraid of it, you
should embrace it. Welcome it. It's all a part of growing
stronger and to grow strong you need to be strong in believing
in yourself too. I felt like that once long ago; the first time
I slaughtered. It was an overwhelmimg and yet it was a riveting
feeling. The rush, the dominance and you always see the true
nature of someone during their last moments of life. Are they
weaklings who cry and beg for their lives? Or are they bold and
stupid to fight back?" [/shadow] Flowey
replied as he brought Sprite into a light side-hug with one of
his prickly vines, [shadow=orange, left] "I'm here for you Sprite
don't you worry. Especially for later. I'm going to need you. I
think the Smiley Trashbag is starting to catch on. Normally he
doesn't tell anyone these things but... with so many Anomolies
running around I can't know that for sure. He will be doing
anything he can to stop us from growing stronger. Maybe he might
try and get his little friends of his to help him... unless we
can kill them first. He's going to try and keep me away from you
by killing me over and over. Every time I 'die' he's forcing a
Reset on your progress. Everything you have worked hard for will
be taken away." [/shadow]
The flower paused as the seedlings in his face rippled into an
almost hopeful expression, [shadow=orange, left] "Fortunately for
us - and if I know him as well as I think I do - he probably
won't do anything until the last minute. So we have time. Until
then, maybe I can help you with dealing with these new-found
feelings of yours. How can I help you? For the more you struggle
with this power the more it will resist. Embrace and become one
with what you have inside and then you will discover who you
really are. What greatness you're destined to have."

When the flower leaned in for the embrace, Sprite felt his body
tense.
Something about Flowey holding the puck caused his lips to
quiver. This wasn't a dream, he had not just done the
unthinkable in vain, Flowey was real. He was here, telling him
that things would be okay, and that he made the right decision.
He was becoming strong, and he had not been lead astray. Once
more, the flower had come back and been there for him. Flowey
was his friend. This reassurance of reality, it was difficult
for the boy to fully comprehend.
"I...I...thank you." He admitted, trying not be pathetic.
[shadow=orange,left]I'm going to need
you."[/shadow]
"A...anything. Especially for what you've done for me..."
Smiley Trashbag.
Smiley Trashbag....
Sprite lowered his hood, the crown still resting firmly on his
head as Flowey began to explain how their enemy would be trying
to halt what they were trying to accomplish. The puck found
himself growing noticeably more irritable as the thought of
someone getting in his way. What was this "Smiley Trashbag"
trying to prove? Sprite would notice how Flowey would say his
name, and it filled the puck with disdain. No... nobody would
stop them now.
"I won't let that happen." Sprite found himself practically
growling, the hardness returning to his eyes as he fought the
urge to let his power flourish, yet he'd noticed Flowey wasn't
fond of the cold. He contained himself instead. "I don't know
who that is, or who is helping him, but if anyone's getting in
the way... I need to kill them."
"I don't want my power to control me, I want to be controlling
it at all times. I don't want it to influence my decisions, I
want to master it, I want my power to bend to me.. I ran into
Gust, the Cheetah who helped us crack the ceiling. He wasn't
with the swordsman or Cherry, he was looking for her. I attacked
him. I... it felt so great. Especially after the way he reacted
to me when I tried to help, the satisfaction to watch him in
pain... Flowey, I loved it....but I didn't feel entirely in
control."
I could have killed him, I had his life in my hands, he was
down, and I was dominating... but as I prepared my blade, my
thoughts raced. I wondered to myself if I was killing him for
myself, or to satiate the power inside of me. I told him it was
because he listened to me, but I don't care what he thinks. It
was just the thought of something else controlling me, it caused
me to doubt myself, so I spared him... I know I should have done
it... I just didn't want to give it the satisfaction. I wanted
to kill Gust for me, and only me. I didn't want something else
pushing me to force me to make decisions."
"If I need to embrace that, I will. If you think it's best for
me, I'll give into that urge, but I'm just wondering if it's
true strength to be dependent on a need, rather than me making
the choice because of my own determination...? If there's
anything that you think I should do, I'll do it. I don't want
anyone to get in our way, and I know I need more power, but I
just feel being in control will allow me to make the best
decisions... for both of us."
"...I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking...it...I-m... s-sorry."
He lowered his head.

[shadow=orange,left]"Don't mention
it."[/shadow] the plant replied to his thanks before he
raised a curious brow, [shadow=orange,left]"Oh?
You haven't met that filth yet? That's surprising, but he's hard
to miss. He's a midget pile of bones who never stops smiling and
smells like filth. I wouldn't be surprised if he was too lazy to
bathe or change clothes. He's disgusting."[/shadow]
Flowey then gave a putrid frown,
[shadow=orange, left]"But, having said that. 'If I
have one piece of of advice for you... don't let Sans find
anything about you. Not while you're still getting stronger.
He's already caused me more than my fair share of Resets in the
past. Stay away from that guy' - if you can... but fortunately
for us and thanks to the sunlight, I don't think we have to
worry about him for much longer."[/shadow] he added lowly
with a twisted grin before belting out a malicious cackle.
[shadow=orange, left]"You have the right idea about
killing them. We need to kill a lot of monsters before we can
accomplish so much more than just being strong. Once we win, I
can promise you Sprite, that you're going to forget what being
alone has ever felt like."[/shadow] he then turned to
look at him again with a curious expression,
[shadow=orange,left]"Gust and Cherry huh? So
that's their real names. This whole time I thought they had
stupid names like Spots and Straws. Then again I never really
cared enough to ask them."[/shadow]
Flowey then made a shrugging motion with his stem and leaves,
[shadow=orange,left]"Anyway. That thirst and
thrill you've felt is a good thing and the best way to master it
rather than it master you is to get used to feeling that rush.
You have to kill a lot more, really get to know yourself -
familiarize yourself with how your body feels and how your mind
reacts to slaughter. Don't second guess yourself. Your power is
yours and yours alone. It's a part of you. Power is what gives
you confidence. Then, once you truly learn what to expect,
that's when the real fun starts."[/shadow]
[shadow=orange,left]"Your own
Determination?"[/shadow] he echoed, stifling a laugh,
[shadow=orange,left]"It's true strength once you
have learnt to make that need depend on you rather than you
depend on that need. As I mentioned before this new part of
yourself that you're feeling is still you. You just have to
learn more about yourself, that's all. You could start by stop
apologizing. Never be sorry. Being sorry means you take back
what you said or did. So if you get used to that idea then
you'll fall like a tower of cards if you end up regretting
killing someone."[/shadow]
The fower sighed as he looked up to the stars again,
[shadow=orange, left]"Listen, in a few days time
there's going to be a monster in a fancy dress who will be
summoning a powerful monster deeper in Waterfall. Near the
bottomless pit. They're not a threat to us, but it is also in
our best interest to not let anyone else interfere with it. If
we play our cards right we might be able to rub shoulders with
them and get wishes of our own. At the rate we have been going,
that monster shouldn't deny us either if we asked for
anything."[/shadow]

This Smiley Trashbag.... was a threat. The young impressionable
teen's eyes locked with Flowey's as his friend warned him of
their enemy. For someone to cause numerous resets, it worried
the puck. Sprite found himself nodding carefully numerous times.
The Flower's warning from his first meeting still held true.
Beware of Skeletons....
Flowey had quite a bit to say, and Sprite knew it came from
experience. The way that he had enunciated his words and the
weight they held spoke to the boy. The advice and the
understanding, it was..incredibly refreshing. If Flowey paid
close attention, he'd Sprite's face easing, his mind absorbing
and acknowledging his guidance wholeheartedly. "...You're
right." The puck breathed, as he sat down next to Flowey,
joining his friend in the star gazing. "I shouldn't be
apologizing, and I need to get used to this. Moldsmal are
nothing," he practically cooed as he looked around the cavern,
resisting the urge to snicker, this used to be their nest after
all, "but I'll accept the passion and rush it gives me. I'll
perfect killing and I'll be really good at it." He felt himself
smile at the thought of that.
His smile grew. "No more regrets, and no more holding back. I'll
become strong enough to be able to protect you, and we wont have
to worry about people in our way.....Thanks, Flowey." Though
shortly after that, he paused for a moment, a goofy grin growing
on his face as he gave one of Flowey's petals a gentle and
playful flick, making a popping sound with his lips before he
erupted in a series of chuckles. Sprite would then lie to his
back with a big smile on his face, arms resting underneath his
head. He took in a deep breath for a moment before closing his
eyes. He held it for just a few moments before a cool puff of
vapor wafted into the air above him. "...We're just two pals
chillin' under the stars... nothing better than that."
He felt an eye open though as Flowey spoke of the matters
happening in a few days. He processed this a bit before turning
his head to his friend. "...Do you think it's a good idea for us
to get involved with someone else? What if they're an
enemy...trying to catch us off guard?"

The flower nodded with approval, in both hearing Sprite's
acceptance of the newfound feelings and absorbing Flowey's every
word. There was a twitch is Flowey's harsh features for but a
brief moment when he saw this before he tapped the thorns about
his mouth together a few times. He then cast Sprite a look when
one of his petals; a little confused by the goofy grin he was
receiving. He hadn't seen someone look at him like that for a
long time...
Flowey then chuckled to himself before he found himself
returning to stargazing once
again,[shadow=orange,left] "There is one thing
better than this. Just one more. Winning."[/shadow] he
hummed, the familiar tone of malice crawling back to his tone
again,[shadow=orange,left] " I understand your
concerns but I have been... whispering some things to a Shyren
as of late. About the Genie she's going to summon. I don't think
we have anything to worry about because, turns out, you and I
have the potential to wish for whatever we want, but only one
wish each. Only thing is, I have a feeling the Trashbag will be
there too. Maybe with his garbage friends too."[/shadow]
[shadow=orange, left]"You'll be much stronger in a
few days time after killing more monsters... but that crown on
your head does so much more than preventing your mind from
Resetting if I decide to Reset. You'll be able to witness my
true power first-hand, isn't that exciting? And because you've
become such a good friend of mine, I've decided that with it I'm
going to make you even stronger. I don't know how long it'll
last but i'm sure you'll know how to make it count. Inside that
crown has a part of me in it. Nectar I suppose it would be
called... but I think it could also be called
Determination."[/shadow] the former prince continued as a
warped smile formed again,[shadow=orange,left] "As
long as that gem on that crown doesn't break while you're using
you'll have that extra power boost and probably be able to have
your Soul persist after one death. If you die a second time your
body will melt away and that's it. Gamer over. I've seen it
happen before to another monster in another timeline... she had
been injected with Determination and it worked for her. So from
that, and after Resetting that same run countless times I've
been able to understand it better and mimicked it similarly. It
took more Resets than I'd like to admit just to figure it out...
but when time isn't an issue I eventually managed to get
it."[/shadow]
He then turned to face Sprite again, his whole face twisting
into an even more sickening, malicious
grin,[shadow=red, left]"But you might be right. We
can't trust them for certain... they would have to be really,
REALLY STUPID to betray us!"[/shadow] The eyes of the
flower sparked a bright red flash as he howled with laughter,
cackling warping and echoing throughout the open cavern.

Winning.
The young puck carefully removed the crown from his head as the
flower had just explained the true abilities it held within. He
felt himself shudder a bit, his body reacting the excitement
that had just coursed through him. Utter temptation and
eagerness began to consume him as he looked to the gem deeply.
Power... it was literally in his hands. He was finally able to
look away from it then to his friend, a gaze of excitement
present in his eyes. He wanted to win. The flower's laughter
empowered him, filling him with Determination.
"...If I have to fight for my wish, I will... but I can't rely
on your power alone. I...I may need this, but I don't want to
waste it. I need to keep gathering power on my own too. Being
unprepared is the last thing I want, and I can't let you down
after everything you've done for me. I won't. I don't want to be
reset... I don't want to ever lose you." Sprite placed the crown
on top of his head, raising his hood. "If they betray us... I'll
kill them all. I don't care if it's Gust or the trash. And if I
die.... I'll refuse."
Sprite stood up, a passion now burning in his soul as he looked
to his hands. He felt them pulse with magic, it's cool vapors
and caustic frost crackling with each moment. Flowey's guidance
and advice was brewing in his mind as he stared towards the
exit. "I'll return even stronger.... I'll see you in a few days
Flowey, I won't let you down."
Sprite left the cave, and for the first time in his life, there
was confidence in each step he took.
