Part II: A Shuffle In Time
By: Sans Date: April 2, 2017, 10:18 am
---------------------------------------------------------
((This is will probably be just a short RP. It can be open to
anyone whom is considered to be friends with, or related to
Sans. Though I definitely need Alphys in this one. xD ))
----
Some time later Sans had teleported back into the one room he
hasn't been in at his house for years. He felt exhausted. Not
having been able to get a wink of sleep in the last forty-eight
hours on top of taking a few short cuts today was draining his
energy a lot quicker than he was used to. His lab at the back of
the house. When the skeleton's wet, fuzzy pink slippers touched
the ground a layer of dust blew away from him. Not monster dust
of course, but regular dust which had accumulated over time due
to abandonment. The skeleton sighed as he flicked the light on,
looking around the room which had a stale air to it; dust was
only on the floor but all over the bench, some blue prints
written with Wing Dings and all over the curtains concealing a
large, strange, broken machine in the corner. There was a golden
envelope which had been opened with his name written on it that
wasn't covered in dust on the bench. The hand written invitation
from Trinity lay beside it. The skeleton furrowed his eye ridges
a bit before going through the draws in a rather unorganized
matter, as if he had forgotten where he had kept things.
Eventually some tools, bits of copper, wire, nuts, bolts, small
sheets of metal, chips, a Soldering Iron, Solder, some blue gems
and several pieces of paper with notes and diagrams scribbled
onto them in a lazy and messy manner were pulled out and placed
onto the bench. The last thing Sans had pulled out from a drawer
after all of those things was a photo album. He paused to stare
at it for a moment before finding himself sighing again before
pulling out a card found at the back of it and stuck on the wall
behind the bench so he could see it clearly while working at the
bench. It was a poorly drawn picture of three smiling people
with the words 'Don't Forget' written on it; there were also the
occasional wrinkled spots on it from dried up liquid - dried
tears maybe?
The clock on the workbench was the next thing to capture his
attention. First of all, he was surprised that it was in fact
still working - or was it broken?
'Twelve-thirty? I could have sworn it would
have been at least four by now. Wasn't I - shouldn't I be at
Grillby's with everyone else if it isn't four... nah, clock must
be busted.' he thought to himself, though he was being
more hopeful than he would like to admit.
He then put the photo album back in it's proper place before he
stared at the notes and diagrams and groaned lightly,
"Heh. It's been so long that I've forgotten
if this has been proven or if it's still just a hypothesis. Oh
boy." he mumbled to himself. He was about to reach for
his phone in his pocket when he started to suddenly feel
light-headed and dizzy before finally collapsing to the floor
under his own weight.
"Ow." he uttered after the sounds of
multiple bones clattering onto the tiles as he stared at the
ceiling.
'Oh this is just fine. It's going to be one
of those kinds of days isn't it? Cool. Cool.' he thought
to himself once again with a roll of his eyes before leaning
over to the side to reach for his phone whilst still lying on
the floor and tapping on the number belonging to the Royal
Scientist.

As Sans began to type, the slacker would be interrupted as he
would receive an incoming call from a number he may or may not
have recognized. That is entirely dependent on if the lazy bones
would have bothered to update his contact information.
-----
On the other end, Mistral sat in a cozy chair in the Castle's
library, a shadow cast over his skull as the warm fires sparked
in the fireplace.
Calmly, he tapped his finger on a small table, holding a rotary
phone in his other hand ,awaiting San's answer. Though it did
not slip Mistral's mind that Sans might have just left it on
silent and buried in a couch somewhere.
Other than his finger tapping, the skeleton was deathly still.

Whilst half-way through his call with Alphys, Sans squinted at
the incoming phone call for a moment or two; mentally
registering the number. He blinked a few times, allowing for it
to ring for a bit longer before finally putting the call on
Alphys on hold and answered it.
[Heya. This is Sans. 'Sup?] he
answered casually as he continued to stare at the ceiling from
the cold tiled floor. He really didn't feel like moving right
now and had suddenly decided that he was 'comfortable' lying
here for the mean time.

There was a brief moment of silence
["I certainly do not wish to believe you're continuing to waste
your time even further, Sans.] Mistral's tone was quiet, yet
harsh. It was laced with a refined eloquence, yet with a
chilling edge that reeked of experience. There was no doubt
Mistral was, as Sans would most likely refer as, a bag of dusty
old bones.
The sounding of a creaking jaw could be heard through the line.
["Say what you will, but know that your lack of action will
cause you great pain... I know this to be true..."] the last
word practically steamed through his teeth, as burnt memories of
a young prince flashed in his mind.
*Faint static*
[".............Do you understand?"]

There was a brief pause, probably because Sans was caught
off-guard by how direct and harsh the skeleton at the other end
was. He blinked again a few times before chuckling
softly, [Wow Mist, you really do know how to
cut things right 'down to the bone', huh? You 'wound'
me.] he jested with a few more light chuckles and kept
his tone nonchalant, [but, uh, believe it or
not I actually have a reason for taking things easy this time.
I've been on sick leave for two days now. So... what is it that
you were after?]

["....I wished nothing more than to educate you on the
irresponsibility your lifestyle encourages."] he clicked,
irritation spewing from his trachea.
Sans would here numerous vertebrae popping in succession, but
then there was a pause,
["...And yet..."]
There was a sighing sound.
["...Sans, I'm aware my passions augment my speech.
Unfortunately you receive much scrutiny from me, though you
should know that I only react to your choices the way I do
because I'm very much aware of your potential. I'm aware you may
have your reasons, I just do not want to see you lose anything
in this world."]
["Listen to me...the pain of knowing you could have changed
something if you took the initiative at the time
is...unbearable...I apologize for my outburst, Sans, but take it
from on old bone bag like me... you do not want to live a life
of regret. I implore you to think about that."]

While Sans kept his grin, he did manage to frown a bit as he
looked the side briefly; reflecting on some... fuzzy memories.
his tone picked up an octave in attempt to mask what he was
feeling, [Ah don't worry about it Mist, it's
okay. I've got it covered. I may be a pretty laid-back kind of
skeleton, but I know what I'm doing.] he said as he
slowly decided to sit back up. The was a light, involuntary
groan that echoed from from the skeleton as his spine creaked
from the motion, [Besides, 'Ulna'-ver know
what I'd do without ya Mist, your concern is appreciated. So,
enough about me. How are you holding up?]

["I know you do, Sans, but just be sure you're doing it at the
right time."] Mistral fought the urge to ask if Sans was alright
after hearing the groan but the younger Skeketon had already
asked a similar question. The elder clicked in response, looking
down.
["Well... I have been worried. That's one of the reasons I
decided to contact you, but other than that, my duties still
never cease. With all the recent happenings however, my job has
grown more difficult, but it is nothing that I cannot handle."]
["Though to be honest my own well being is not a priority most
if the time. But, I do appreciate you asking."]
...
["...I'm sure you're aware, but your father has made himself
known again."] Mistral would sigh. ["...Are you alright, Sans?"]

---------------------------------------------------------
The short skeleton managed to slowly get back to his feet again,
pushing open the door to his lab and leaned against the door
frame as he listened; he continued to grin as always, but
whether if it was genuine or not, it was hard to say. He starrd
out to part of his backyard, [Funnily
enough, I somehow always manage to get it right in the end.]
he replied simply as a singular bone was summoned and
was sent flying through the air and tore through the centre of
one of the newly sprouted golden flowers; pinning it to the tree
behind it.
He then shrugged, [Yeah I would imagine it
would get quite busy up at the castle. If I'm honest, it's
probably one of the reasons why I'm grateful to usually be
stationed around Snowdin. You do a great job Mist, but sometimes
you gotta remember to treat yourself every once in a while.
You're important too. Besides, I'm sure Asgore wouldn't
mind.] he continued before deciding to send another
singular bone flying at the flower; severing it, [font=comic
sans ms][You're not alone though. The recent stuff that has been
happening is kinda getting me worried too. Snowdin Forest and
Waterfall has been more dangerous than usual lately - with
monsters disappearing suddenly. To top it all off, did you hear
that Snowdin has flooded? The climate has changed so much that
there isn't a speck of snow. Kinda creeps me out. Might have to
rename it Waterlogged if nothing changes. Heh, I hope
not.]
There was a preganant pause when Sans' father was brought up and
his tone had changed noticeably. He didn't exactly sound too
thrilled about it either, [Oh yeah, I know
he's back.] he said shortly before changing his tune a
bit, [Yeah, I'm fine. Sorta. Haven't slept
at all in two days - and still haven't been able to. Now I know
how Papyrus feels in a way. Heh.]

[...I was asking if you were alright about seeing your father
again, Sans.]
Mistral reinforced this matter, his tone carefully direct, yet
considerate. [...I understand you may not wish to speak of him,
but it is important to me to know how you are dealing with his
sudden reintroduction into your life. I will contact your
brother on this matter as well, but I am speaking to you now.
While the matters you have mentioned fill me with great concern,
I wish to speak of this topic first.]
....
[Please, Sans, do not hesitate to speak your mind. I'm aware of
how you handle your struggles, but everyone needs someone to
speak with once in a while...
You cannot dodge forever...I am here for you....
...I love you and your brother too much to leave you to deal
with your ordeals alone....Please do not shy from the solace I
offer you.]
