The Skeketon clicked his teeth, his vertebrae groaning slightly
       as he tilted his skull.
"Far from that, I do indeed trust your judgment, however I'm
merely expressing my concern for your well being and urging you
to practice caution. You are benevolent and strong, I just do
not want to see others take advantage of that. If you trust
them, then I will as well, and I will whole heartedly complete
the tasks you ask of me. I hope that you consider my feelings on
the matter though. You are a great king, old friend, but never
underestimate the power of one's perspective." He would bow his
       head calmly.
In response to the last question, Mistral reinitiated eye
contact. A small bubble of hesitation formed in his chest as he
       prepared to speak.
"....I am referring to the human souls....sir."

My form shifted entirely into one of tensity. The subject of the
human souls was a touchy matter and was inevitably what caused
the queen's departure. She wasn't wrong, this was a form of
racism. It wasn't these children that locked my kid down in the
underground...it was their ancestors. It's racist to assume just
because they share the same homosapien race that they are just
like the others...it's wrong...but what other choice do I have?
I don't know what would happen now if I didn't continue to
collect souls and told my people I'd been killing innocent
children because I was a coward. How would they react?
"Yes of course...." I muttered under my breath but made sure my
voice was still audible. It was my job to project my voice
instead of hiding it like I so longed to do. Sometimes I wonder
why my father made me king. Perhaps it was to ensure the family
bloodline stayed royal. Or did he really have that much faith in
me? It's been over a thousand years since his departure from
this world but I still think of him constantly. I miss him
dearly...he was a great king and an amazing father. I think
Asriel would have liked to meet him more than once....
Whoops I don't have to worry about that because the both of them
are-.... My eyes fell from my skeleton butler, my smile
twitching until it became a frown. I had yet to realize that I
had been silent this entire time thinking and reflecting on the
past. Why can't I move on?

Mistral rose slowly from his chair, making his way over towards
the King. Asgore was so tall that even with Mistral standing
next to him, the 6ft Skeketon barely reached his height even
when the King was sitting. There was silence, Mistral taking the
time to look to his friend. With all of the triumphs, and
hardships, he had watched the king stand tall and press forward,
doing his very best for his family and people.
And sometimes the best was hard, or just not good enough. A
skeletal hand would calmly rest on Asgore's shoulder. "Even the
most valiant and virtuous, deserve reflection, and respite...."
Mistral calmly stood with his friend, letting him know that he
       was there.

The soothing voice of the skeletal butler slowly led me away
from my thoughts and caused me to look up. "That is right...." I
went quiet for another beat to ponder a little further before
speaking again. "Thank you Mistral. More than a butler you are a
wonderful friend. I...don't know what I'd do without you. Thank
you for always being here for me. As both a friend and a loyal
servant." I didn't normally do this but I bowed my head towards
Mistral. "Thank you." I said making sure to punctuate my words
delicately to lace it with sincerity. "Now shall we get a move
on? We both have important things to do. Don't worry about the
plates. I'm very capable of washing them myself."

Mistral felt himself pause, a small gush of emotion overtaking
the caretaker as he comprehended everything that Asgore had just
spoken. The skeleton was very much aware that the King
appreciated his services, but something about the way he spoke
this time.... it was a beautiful reassurance. He felt his jaw
drop a bit at the sight of Asgore bowing....to him.
       "I..I.....I..."
Mistral found it difficult to speak, his arms wide, his hands
practically trembling. If Mistral were capable of it, he would
       be weeping.
"....It really is my pleasure, my King....you flatter me with
your kindness.....but you are very welcome. It's been an honor
serving the family, this opportunity has been such a
blessing...I would not trade it for the world."
As Asgore reminded him of his quest, Mistral nodded, a bit
abruptly as he was snapped out of his trance. "Indeed...sir." As
he nodded, the caretaker reached for his hat, placing the black
derby on his skull and adjusting his scarf. "....Be sure to
organize the dishes accordingly though, if I may request, ...I
do have a system in play! And yes, I will know if you try to
       cheat Asgore!"
And with that, Mistral was off.
