       Overwhelmed (The Koray)
By: Red Date: March 20, 2017, 1:17 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Snowdin Forest.
Sharp steel met with vulnerable flesh as Red sliced into a
pouncing intruder at least three times in a blink of an eye. She
quickly retracted her blade behind her as the pieces of her
victim harmlessly floated past. Hastily she readied her blade at
her side as she watched the creatures close in.
       Red was tired.
Burdened by fatigue, the young swordsman breathed heavily as she
stood her ground. A few small child cowered in fear in the
depths of her red cape. The boy was a blue stag beetle, his
immature wings clicking in fear as he shook, holding tightly to
       Red's cape.
"M-miss R-Red..." he stuttered. "I believe in you."
"...Thank you, Stanley.." Red whispered raising her blade in
defense. Her knees shook for just a brief moment.
She felt like crying, an overwhelming fear consuming her as she
did her best to protect the child. She tried to think of Undyne,
and her seemingly endless reservoir of courage. The thought of
the heroine and her feats filled Red with determination...
       But nobody came.

Red would soon find herself surrounded, by at least half a dozen
of these hulking, bipedal werebeasts. Echoes of low growls
loomed around her in cold symphony, dancing in tangent with the
falling snow. Branches of the trees around them groaned in the
wind as the cold continued to ensnare them during their battle.
They watched one of their own fall in battle, blowing away in
the wind; which only caused for them to bared their long, bronze
       fangs with anger.
One of the werebeasts stepped forward, she was just as large as
the others, only her coat was as white as the snow around her
and her eyes - like all the others - had an eerie lime green
glow to them. She kept gesturing with a free hand; her claws
were inches long as she waved it about, "Listen, girly, while
it's cute and all but we have some serious business to attend
to. This is your last chance, hand over the child and we will
Spare you... and we won't rip his little wings off. Everybody
wins." she proposed about as nicely as a savage creature could
       possibly do.

Red instinctively drew her blade as the female Koray stepped
forward, her eyes leering sharply beneath her hood. It took all
her will to prevent herself from shaking. They were surrounding
her now. She knew that it could only be mere moments before they
struck. Her reflexes were acute, but this was so much. She
wasn't sure if she was ready.
She thought of Undyne once more.
'Be brave, assert yourself. You're calling the shots. Make them
bend to you!' Red had imagined Undyne's voice barking in her
       ear.
"What.., are you planning to do with him...?" She croaked.
       'What the hell was that...?'
With a furious shake of her head, Red dug her foot firmly in the
snow as she crossed the Royal Blade in front of Stanley, staring
daggers at the white Koray, her eyes rivaling her master's for
       the briefest of moments.
"What are you planning to do to these children!?" She roared, a
sharp twinkle glistening underneath her hood.

The white Koray beast raised a brow at Red's first attempt at
the question before looking to her allies in the circle before
erupting into a deep, raspy laughter. Others soon followed in
the song of laughs, some were deeper and hearty whilst others
were more high-pitched and even mimicked one of a hyena's. When
the question was asked - no demanded the second time, the female
Koray raised her hands up defensively, in a rather mocking way.
Her eyes flicked upwards briefly to make eye contact with the
       beast standing behind Red.
"Woah easy there, Flipsy." jeered one, comparing her to a
robotic poodle toy that barked and did flips.
"Ain't she Undyne's lackey?" commented another.
       "The 'poor' dear."
"Yeah she would be a real bi'tch to deal with - imagining having
to shadow a fish." another grumbled spitefully. Upon closer
inspection this one had crossed paths with Undyne before, for he
bared the scars left behind the speared which had pepper his
back from a couple of days ago.
The white werebeast made a tutting noise, "Oh, looks like she
would rather have the boy's wings ripped off. If you want to
       find out so bad-"
The beast from behind already leapt into action before the
sentence was finished with his claws stretched out and attempted
to knock her over. A second one also suddenly leapt, this time
going for the boy and trying to separate him from her. The other
four reformed the circle around them, cutting off any easy
       possible escape routes.
"-how about we show you?" she finally finished before she
snarled into a deep below and also lunged to join in the fray.
With her maw drooling with anticipation, her bronze teeth made
an attempted snap at the arm Red used to wield her blade.

Bump...bump. She felt her heart beat.
       They were growing closer.
       Bump...Bump.
Their voices and laughter were beginning to get her.
       Bump Bump.
Calmly, Red began to sheathe her blade.
       Bump bump.
"Miss Red...?" Stanley sniffled, a tiny hand reaching for the
hero he so desperately believed in. Red grabbed it firmly, not
breaking eye contact with the beasts.
       Bump.......bump.
"Stanley." She whispered, he other hand calmly reaching into her
       belt.
       Bump.
       "I will get you home..."
       Click!
Red gasped as she was shoved from behind, landing to her knees,
crying out in pain from the ferocity of the swipe. How had she
gotten so careless to not check from behind? Yet, she was
determined to hold onto the beetle boy tightly. However,
something else had been knocked out of her hand.
       Tink.. tink..
Red's eyes widened as she saw the flash bang she had just
activated moments earlier bounce off the ground, floating in
midair, her reflexes capturing this moment in slow motion.
She had a split second to notice the other Koray bounding her
way to disembowel her. She embraced Stanley, feeling his tiny
body trembling against hers. She prayed for strength as she
covered the boy in her cape and closed her eyes fiercely, tears
       running down her eyes.
'NGAHHH! RED, DONT YOU EVER GIVE UP!'
Blinding light burst from the explosive as sound was practically
purged from Red's ears. A bellowing ringing sound consumed her
senses as she would scoop Stanley in her arms.
She didn't dare open her eyes as she began to run for their
       lives.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
The flash grenade was enough to buy Red and Stanley some time
and the perfect opening for an escape. Some howled with
surprise, a number clasped their hands over their sensitive ears
and the rest covered and rubbed their eyes. They snarled and
scrambled, and some even bumped into each other as they
practically tried to claw their way to regain their senses.
It took a few short moments, but the white werebeast was the
first to recover. She whirled around, immediately noticing that
the two had taken off. A most horrible roar exploded in a fit of
rage from the she-beast; one sounding oddly like a mix of a bear
       and an elongated canine bark.
"YOU INCOMPETENT IMBECILES! THEY'RE GETTING AWAY!" she roared at
       the rest of the pack.
The werebeasts got onto all-fours and tore through the
sloshy-snow. Their long claws digging up snow, dirt and rock
alike; flinging it behind them like mangled, dull confetti as
they went. The pack soon split up as they charged through the
woods, taking off is in different directions and with the white
one at the centre of the formation; leading the charge as she
       followed her nose.
       The chase was on.
Every now and then Red and Stanley would hear wolf-like howls
echo in the distance. Sometimes to their left, sometimes to
their right but other times it there were numerous periods of
unsettling silence. At least, silence exclusing the sounds of
her making their escape; their foot prints, breathing and
       perhaps any speaking.
Red continued her way for a good long hour perhaps, and the
patterns of hearing distant howls continued on and didn't seem
to be getting any further... but at least not any closer.
At least, that's what she may have thought until suddenly a
hulking beast sprung seemingly out of nowhere to her left; going
straight for her red cape as he gasped onto it tightly and
pulled her back. The beast snarled as he raised his other hand
and attempted to slam a fist into Red.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Her conditioning training had paid off it seemed. Red had
carried the boy for what seemed to be miles, running at a full
sprint practically the entire time. However, as well trained as
she was, she had used so much energy trying to escape that she
was feeling the burn's and aching in her lungs and legs. She had
       to stop.
The young hero almost collided into a tree as she leaned against
it, her breaths exasperated and labored. Stanley continued to
       cling.
       "I... I'm sorry M-miss Red..."
"W-what?" Red gasped, closing her eyes as she continued to
breath deeply, praying for her stamina to return.
"T..they're after me, it's my fault. I'm sorry..."
       "Stanley....no...it's not.. they're...evil. It's not your fault,
       don't ever believe that.."
The young beetle hiccuped, eyes watering. "B-but.. what did I
do? Why are they trying to hurt us? Why miss Red, why? I just
want to see my mom again.. why is this happening?"
Red felt like crying once more as she put her hand in Stanley's
head, trying to reassure him. "I don't know.... but...I will not
let them take you again. You'll ... see her again. Like I said,
       I'm bringing you home..."
Stanley looked up to her, fresh tears in his eyes.
       ".....Promise?"
Red looked down, nodding to him. "I promis-"
Red felt herself shriek as she was pulled from her left, a
primal fear exploding in the pit of her stomach as she watched
Stanley fly straight out of her arms. She instinctively reached
for the boy, trying to grab his arm and never let him go
       again...
"STANLEY!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
       Pain.
Red felt an immeasurable amount of pain skyrocket through her
small form as she was on the receiving end of a strike to the
stomach from a rather large Koray. The strike had pinned her to
the ground, her mouth wide but no sound escaped. She felt
paralyzed as she lay in the snow, her eyes wide. It was
difficult to breathe and move, but as her body shuddered, she
made eye contact with her assailant as she helplessly waited for
       its next move.
Why was this happening? Who could do such things to children.
       "S....stop, please." she practically begged.

The hulking werebeast stared at her with leering lime green
eyes, watching her plead without an once of empathy. He then
proceeded to press his foot against her chest, slowly leaning
his body weight onto her. Stanley was sent flying and landed
into a deep pile of snow, creating an almost donut shape in the
mount of flaked ice with the silhouette of his body.
In a matter of minutes, the others in the pack had swarmed in,
running around, skidding to a stop in yet another circular
formation. They too seemed tired as they panted heavily, some
even had their tongues hanging from the sides of their mouths.
Patches of their fur were either wet or covered with dirt or
leaves; clearly as a result of the chase and trying to stay on
Red's scent all the way through.
Soon enough the white she-beast appeared and stepped into the
circle surrounding Red, with a squirming child-beetle in one of
her enormous hands; carrying him by the scruff of his shirt. She
then knelt down to get a better look of the young warrior and
held Stanley just barely out of Red's reach as she spoke, "I
admit, that little stunt of yours was quite clever and there had
been several occasions when you had slipped away... but at what
       cost?"
Without hesitation the she-beast used her free hand to reach
beneath Stanley's Elytra and had a firm grip onto both of his
wings. A split-second later, she violently ripped her hand away,
taking his wings along with it. Over the screams of pain from
the child, the beasts around them snorted with amusement and
       muttered among themselves.
"Just remember, this is your fault." the white beast accused
firmly, "You had the chance to be Spared and the little one
could have kept his wings, but no, you had to stick your nose
into business where it didn't belong and look at what you've
done. Just what kind of a hero-in-training are you?"
She then dropped the boy into the snow again, this time within
Red's reach before continuing, "Well, since she wants to know so
bad - and wasted our time - she is 'about to get what she wished
for'." she among the others chuckled softly, like they had just
shared an inside-joke and then ordering, "Shackle them."
As quickly as she had uttered the words, the other wolves
scrambled and a couple pulled out two collars from their
inventory and hurried to the two of them. The handled both Red
and Stanley roughly, their sharp claws probably left some
shallow cuts here and there from the not-so-gentle handling.
       When the collars were put on they were rather violent about it;
as if deliberately pulling on too tightly onto them and even
lifting their bodies off of the ground briefly in the process.
When the deed was done the two were dropped to he ground again,
       still surrounded by the beasts.
"Get moving." one of the males barked, shoving the two as they
started to head off in the direction they had just been running
       away from.
It was going to be a long walk back indeed.

Red watched in terror as the unthinkable had been committed to
the child. The pain going through the boy, it filled her with
anguish, and despair. She closed her eyes in response to the
screams, tears flooding down her cheeks.
She was silent as they had dropped the boy to the ground,
staring blankly at the ceiling, the wind and trees rustling as
the smell of fresh dust was in the air.
Stanley cried against the snow, trying to flick his wings that
no longer existed. He thought he could still feel them, but it
was merely just a phantom memory of what was supposed to be
there. With pained eyes he looked to Red, the almost dead glance
in her eyes shocking the beetle as his crawled over to her.
"Miss Red..*sob* Miss Red...I'm...im okay... I'll be okay.. *sob
       sob* don't worry"
Stanley bit his tongue as he buried his head into the snow,
suppressing a wince of pain so she couldn't see it.
       They still weren't home yet...
       "Shackle them."
"I'm okay...." he pleaded, grabbing her hand. "I'm okayI'm
       Okay..."
Stanley screamed in pain as he was dragged and shackled, their
claws touching his freshly clipped wings, his scream high
pitched, a genuine sound that only pain could produce.
Red lay motionless as her shackles were applied, almost ignoring
the fact that the were handling her so roughly. She was forced
to her feet, her head hanging low....
"How dare you." She would whisper.
The girl paused for a bit before a scream was unleashed, her
hood lowering, exposing her face fully for the first time.
"HOW DARE YOU!" She screamed with a force that rivaled the
wolves that were snarling at her. Her eyes practically flowed
with rage as she pulled forward, gnashing her teeth towards the
       white huntress.
"It's people like you that give my life purpose! It's people
like you that excite me, You have no idea how satisfying it will
be when I tear you apart!!"
Red screamed once more, Stanley staring in a combination of fear
       and surprise.
"You say this is my fault? Who captured the boy in the first
place? Who stole him from his family? Who took joy in the fear
of a child, begging for help? WHO CLIPPED A CHILD'S WINGS
BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO MUCH OF A COWARD TO FACE ME? YOU THINK
YOU'RE SMART? YOU THINK HAVE CONTROL? I SWEAR TO YOU, I WILL
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE NIGHTMARES OF ME SLAUGHTERING EVERYONE
YOU LOVE FOR TAKING A CHILD AS YOUR PLAYTHING. YOU'RE DEAD. THIS
       ALL YOUR FAULT!!!"

Not a tear of empathy was shed fort he child, at least not from
the werebeasts present. The forest around them, seemed to act
differently. Drips of melted snow was shed here and there,
dropping from the cold, dead branches intertwining above; it was
as though they wept for the child's suffering.
The werewolves were taken back by surprise by the might of her
cry, a couple even stepped back. The white werebeast stood her
ground however, baring her bronze teeth the whole time. After
being yelled at she slapped a clawed hand across Red's face,
"INSOLENT BI'TCH!" she barked, "Of course I am in control! I am
always in control! If you ever had the slightest bit of control,
none of this would have happened! Nightmares of you? Fat chance
       Fluffy."
She then stormed ahead of the group, growling deeply as she
went. She couldn't find much to say back at her, what Red had
said was really something. Probably even struck a cord in the
she-beast somewhere. The other beasts glanced to each other
after the confrontation, they too didn't know what to make of
the situation. Some were even starting to think that they had
underestimated the young hero. Right now, however, they didn't
       seem to be too worried.
