       A Chosen Leader - Chapter 1 - Rejected... Again
       October 23, 2014
"Wow," said Ashley Tisdale as she eased herself into the seat in
front of my desk. "I don't think I've ever been in here
       before."
I had asked Stephanie McMahon to have Ashley stop up to my
office when she had a chance. I guess she came straight-away,
as she was still in her street clothes. Acid washed denim
jeans. Cream colored jacket from a designer I'm sure I can't
pronounce over a black t-shirt advertising a band I'd never
heard of. Designer sunglasses perched on top of blond hair with
purple highlights. And a pair of strappy sandals, complete with
four inch heels and gold studs on the straps.
This is how she dresses to come to RSI and train for a few
hours. I wonder what she looks like when she goes out.
As she sat up, I noticed the extra bulk beneath her shirt. Ash
has pulled out some sensational wins during her time here at
RSI, and they were almost always the result of her toughness and
heart. Unfortunately, many of her losses have been sensational
in a different way, and the broken ribs she recently suffered
against Kristin Kreuk were another example of that. It didn't
seem fair, and it broke my heart when it happened. But, Tiz
just keeps going, regardless. She doesn't make a big deal out
of her setbacks, and she doesn't like others to make a big deal
       of them, either.
"I feel like I've been called to the Principal's office," she
       continued.
I smiled. "Not everyone that got called to the Principal's
       office was in trouble, Tiz."
"If you say so," she replied. "It was always trouble, for me."
       I smiled again.
"Well, then this is a first for you," I said, "because you're
       not in trouble."
"Phew!" she said as she made a big show of wiping her brow with
the back of her hand. "Thank goodness!"
Is there anyone at RSI that's NOT a smart-ass?
"I actually wanted to talk to you about the third team we're
       forming," I said.
       That got her attention.
"Finally!" she said. "I was hoping you wouldn't pass me over
       for Princess Anna, over there."
"You have a problem with Kristen?" I asked.
"Not at all," she answered. "I just know you have sort of a
       thing for her."
       I gave her a look.
       "Not like THAT!"
I laughed. "Awww... c'mon. There's no way I'm going to put
       Princess Anna over Sharpay."
"Ohhhh," she moaned. "I thought you had stopped calling me
       that."
"I had," I said. "But then you got smart with the Princess Anna
       thing, so..."
"OK, OK... fine," she said. "So, who else is going to be on the
       team?"
"Well, that will be up to the team leader."
"And who's that going to be?" she asked.
"I was hoping it would be you," I said.
She drew her head back and gave me a stunned look. "ME?" she
       asked.
"Why do you look so shocked?" I asked. "Child star who made the
successful transition to being an adult celebrity. Head of your
own production company. Executive producer of a hit new sitcom.
Not to mention a fairly successful MMA fighter."
"Yeah," she said derisively. She gestured at her injured ribs.
"Do I look successful to you?"
I shrugged. "I admit there are others with more natural talent.
But, you give all you've got and then some, Ash. That's what a
       leader does."
She seemed to appreciate the compliment, but then she cast her
       gaze down to the floor.
       "Listen, I'm flattered," she began.
"I don't like the sound of this," I said.
She sighed. "I can't do it, Richelle," she said. "With Blondie
Girl... and the new show... I just don't have the time."
Ashley is not one of those child stars that believes her early
success will carry her forever. Her moderate success as a
Disney Channel regular exploded into worldwide fame when High
School Musical hit it big. She rode that wave for as long as it
lasted, but that didn't mean she wasn't planning the whole time.
Her post-HSM career saw a moderately successful TV movie based
on her Sharpay character, along with a few guest spots on
high-profile TV shows. Not bad, but Tiz had more in store.
Enter Blondie Girl Productions, Ashley's new production company.
They had some small success right out of the gate, but things
have really took off when their first full scale sitcom was
picked up by the ABC Family channel. The show just completed a
shortened trial season, and odds are good that it's going to be
renewed for a full season run sometime soon.
In other words, Ashley is not going to become one of those
failed former child actors. She's much too stylish for that.
"I just don't want to take on something else," she continued.
"I won't be able to give it the time it needs."
"I can appreciate that," I said with a sigh. "But it leaves me
       in a bad spot."
"There's no one else?" she asked. "What about Emma?"
"She's too busy with her UN program," I said.
"Well, there has to be someone."
I shook my head. "This is going to be a very young team. You
and Emma are by far the most experienced members. I'd have been
thrilled with either of you as leader. But, now..."
We were both quiet for a minute.
"Let me talk to Emma," she said finally.
"That's fine with me," I said. "But I'm really at a loss.
Krystal would be next in terms of experience. I just don't
       think she's ready."
She stood up abruptly. "We'll figure it out," she said firmly.
       "Just give us some time."
I nodded. "Take as long as you need," I said, "because I'm
       stumped."
She smiled and turned to go, her heels clicking as she went.
"Ash, seriously... do you even OWN sneakers?"
"Sure," she answered. "I have pink ones, blue ones, ones with
       rhinestones all over them..."
I held my hand up. "I'm so sorry I asked."

I think you should just use Krystal. She's got, um... skills.
Skills in, uh, things. (Looking insanely hot is a skill, right?
       :P)
Seriously though, hopefully Tiz can do some wiley convincing
with Emma. Someone's got to say yes to you eventually... right??
Nicely done. Loved it. Look forward to more. Liking the way you
       write Tiz. :)

No... I'm pretty sure that's just dumb luck. :P
And yeah... someone's going to say yes. And it's a blond, too.
So, she'll fit right in with the two banes of my existence. :)
       Glad you liked it. :D
