A Madman? - Chapter 2
By: The Vixens Date: May 5, 2016, 3:29 pm

Nothing.
Harvey had been staring at the computer screen for little over
an hour and still nothing suspicious had happened. Admittedly
when he had spied on people in the past he tended to get a
little impatient at this stage. He then sat back in his chair
and pulled out a red marker pen from his coat pocket.
He opened a thin drawer in the top centre of his desk. Inside
was a white board with the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on it. He removed
the cap from the pen and drew a line through the 1.
Harvey had crossed the line back at the meeting. He couldn’t
afford to do it again.
He stole a quick glance at the computer. The building was
beginning to empty as the RSI fighters made their exit. Within
minutes the building was deserted. He had noticed Richelle was
still limping. But only slightly.
Harvey switched off the computer just as he heard a knock on his
door.
“It’s open,” he called.
Tatyana walked in and shut the door behind her. “Are you busy?”
she asked.
“Not right this minute,” Harvey answered truthfully.
“I just wanted to talk,” Tatyana said, “about…”
“Paige,” Harvey interrupted. Ever since Honorbound Tatyana had
developed a little crush on Paige Hathaway after she had beaten
her. And every day since, Tatyana had come up here and wanted to
express her feelings to him. For Harvey it was annoying to have
to sit there and listen to her go on about that one moment she
and Paige were locked in a clinch. He had never really listened
to her before and he didn't plan on starting today. “Look
Tatyana, this really needs to stop. You’re driving everyone here
insane with all this.”
“I can’t help it though,” Tatyana moaned.
“Yes you can,” Harvey said, his voice sounding supportive. “I
know it’s hard but I bet one day you’ll be able to remove her
from your mind and… ok seriously this isn't working for me, I
tried being nice Tatyana I really did. But I am fed up with all
this Paige bullsh*t. Everyone else is as well.”
“But I…”
“SHUT UP!” Harvey shouted. “Oh my God you’re so annoying! Look…
just talk to Paige, tell her how you feel, yadayadayada, and get
out.”
Tatyana, with her eyes welling up, walked towards the door and
opened it. She gives Harvey one last glare before slamming the
door behind her as she left.
“Bitch,” Harvey muttered under his breath. He picked up a radio
which was lying under his desk and turned it on. Then he pressed
play and Weatherman started. He could listen to that song all
day if he wanted. But right now Harvey had something on his
mind. Or rather someone.
When he watched the footage for the first time, Harvey
discovered that RSI had some friends within the State Police.
Notably someone called Meghan. He may not have met her but he
had heard of her. The day after the meeting Meghan started
looking into him. And 3 weeks later, had found nothing on him.
Not even a cash withdrawal. Because in Harvey’s previous line of
work, his identity had to be secured. No one knew what he looked
like or what his voice sounded like. His phone had an automatic
voice modulator built into it. So if someone was talking to him
on the phone all they heard was a disorientating voice. Anyone
could've passed him in the street and not give him a second
thought. Or even a first one.
All anyone knew about him was his name. Harvey Blake. And his
job.
When Harvey was 10 years old he had helped catch a serial
killer. Impressed by the skills used, the British government
hired him to take on more challenging cases. Within 6 years
Harvey had solved over 200 cases and had been classed as a
private detective for hire, the world over. Despite his perfect
record Harvey’s methods were deemed controversial by several
politicians due to them going outside the law on occasion.
But no matter how much they voiced their views about him the
politicians all shared one positive thing about Harvey. He
always got the right guy. All of them with his favourite method:
deception.
Criminals weren't the only ones victim to Harvey’s deceptive
ways. The people who hired him usually had no idea what he was
going to do. And the only people who knew he was working with
him was the one who made the call and anyone Harvey wanted in on
the case. Harvey had strict instructions about who knew he was
helping out. They had to be on a need-to-know basis.
And sadly for Meghan, she wasn't on that basis.
Someone else was mentioned in the footage as well.
Pat.
Funny, Harvey thought. Richelle has friends in the State Police.
Well one of them was responsible for bringing him out of
retirement in the first place.
