Unintended Consequences - Chapter 1 - Emma Gone Wild

Author's Note: I know... I know... she's doing chapters, now. :P
Truth is, I saw others posting their stories in smaller chunks,
and I like the way that works. It's much easier to digest that
way. This story is a little longer than the others I've done,
and I decided it's just too long to post all at once. It came
together in pieces as I wrote it, so I decided to post the
pieces separately. The chapter numbering is mostly just to
satisfy my hyper-organized personality. :)
Anyway... This is the follow-up to "Emma Goes All In." And, not
to worry, there'll be no forays into erotic fiction in this one.
:P
Timeline: The story picks up three days after the events of
"Emma Goes All In."

Chapter 1 - Emma Gone Wild
July 30, 2014
Enough is enough.
In the three days that have passed since Emma Watson last saw
fit to speak to me, the situation has degraded from bad to
totally out of control. I had hoped that a little time might
help her come to her senses. Instead, she has completely
snapped.
After being unceremoniously tossed from my office, Emma decided
that she will not participate in any stable activities until she
and I meet face to face. I have repeatedly asked her to come to
my office so we can do just that. But, she doesn't want to come
to my office. She wants me to come down there.
To the training room.
So far, I have refused. So, Emma has taken to sitting on a
chair in the training area, making disparaging remarks about me
to anyone who'll listen. She has even given me an ultimatum.
Meet her or fire her. I like neither option.
The words "incorrigible brat" don't even begin to cover her
recent behavior. She has me worried, because she has a fight
coming up in just a few days. She has me angry, because I'm
really getting sick of her sh*t. But, above all, she has me
depressed.
I miss the old Emma, and I want her back. But I'm running out
of options.
I sat in the board room at the RSI training facility, trying to
come up with some way to resolve the issue. With me were
Danneel Harris, Stephanie McMahon, Tiffany Mulheron, Britney
Spears and Elisha Cuthbert.
That's right... I've called in Britney and Elisha to see if they
can help. Can you say "desperation?"
"Alright, guys... we're running out of time. Who's got an
idea?"
"There are no more ideas," Danni said in disgust. "We've tried
everything. She won't talk to anyone, unless it's about you."
"Britney... Elisha... anything?"
Britney shook her head. "No,"she said quietly. "She's gone off
the deep end."
"I even asked Emily to talk to her. Sweet, friendly, lovable
Emily," Elisha added. "Five minutes later, she came back,
threatening to snap Emma's neck if she didn't cut the sh*t.
That's not easy to do."
"It's easier than you think," I said. "It wasn't that long ago
we were talking about sweet, friendly, lovable Emma."
No one had anything to say to that, so we just sat sullenly.
Truth is, the change in Emma has everyone at RSI in a pretty
deep funk. Emma was something to everyone here. Friend...
teammate... even inspiration, especially in the case of some of
the younger fighters. But, all of that seems to be gone now.
Though I hate to admit it, I know something has to be done.
"Richelle," Danni said solemnly. "It's time to let her go."
"No."
"There's nothing more we can do. And she's disrupting
everything."
"No, Danni. We're not there yet."
"Richelle," said Tiffany quietly. "We ARE there."
I slid my eyes in her direction.
"Emma's out of control, and I don't think she's coming back.
She's not willing to listen to anyone," she said sadly. "Not
even me."
Tiffany's words were tough for me to swallow. As Emma's closest
friend and training partner, she's the one with the most to lose
if Emma leaves. She was also, for the span of about a week,
Emma's lover. That relationship has been on hold... both the
root cause and the victim in this mess.
For Tiff to admit she'd given up... it meant my options were
dwindling fast.
I gave a depressed sigh. "We'll give it one more day. Thanks,
guys."
As the defeated group dispersed, I motioned for Danni to stay
behind.
"I don't know what you're waiting for," she said after the
others had left. "I don't see another way."
"There is one thing we haven't tried."
She paused a minute, groping for some other solution she hadn't
considered. "Please, don't tell me you're thinking of..."
"I want to go down there, Danni."
She ran her hand through her hair in frustration. "Do I have to
tell you that's a terrible idea?"
I knew she was right. But, I wasn't ready to give up. Not
until we'd tried everything.
"I want to talk to her."
"She doesn't want to talk, Richelle. She wants to kick your
ass."
"I know what she wants. But, I feel like I have to try."
She eyed me skeptically.
"C'mon, Danni... I know she's being a b*tch, but it's still Emma
in there somewhere."
She said nothing, but I could tell she wanted to agree. I made
my final push.
"Danni, Emma has been everything for us. She's been a fantastic
champion, representing the stable with pride and grace at every
turn. And, now she's in trouble. We can't abandon her."
"Don't you think she's already abandoned us?"
"I think she's abandoned everything and everyone, including
herself. She needs help."
More silence from RSI's team leader.
"I have to try. I'll never be able to live with myself if I
don't."
"What happens if talking doesn't work?"
It was my turn to stay quiet. But, with Danni, I don't have to
say anything for her to hear me.
"Richelle," she said sternly. "This isn't you and me letting
off some steam in your office. Emma's been jacked up over this
for days. She's not fucking around."
"I have to do what I have to do, Danni. I told Tiff I would
fight for Emma, and I will if it comes to that."
I could tell she didn't like the idea. "What makes you think
that'll work any better?"
"If it gets that far, it'll mean I'm down to my last shot.
It'll be the end of it, one way or the other."
She blew out a sigh. "I'm going on record saying this is a bad
idea. I still don't know all of your story, but I know there's
a lot more to you than you let on. But, Emma's the real deal,
Richelle. If you take her on, it won't be a game."
"RSI is family, Danni. I don't play games when it comes to
family."
She shook her head, still clearly unhappy. But, she knew I'd
made my mind up. "How do you want to do this?"
"Let her know I'll meet her tonight, after we shut down."
She nodded. "I'll make sure everyone else has cleared out."
"That includes you, Danni." I knew that one wasn't going to
sit well.
"Oh, no," she said emphatically. "No way. I can't let you do
that."
"This isn't a spectator thing. Emma wants this to be one on
one. That's how I want it to be, too."
"And what if Emma loses it completely? Who's going to stop
her?"
"C'mon... do you really think Emma would hurt me?"
"A few days ago, I'd have said 'no.' Now... I don't know."
"I'm willing to take the chance."
Again with the hand through the hair. "I don't like it."
"Me neither," I admitted.

Great work, Richelle! I've really enjoyed getting a look behind
the scenes at RSI. I'm on the edge of my seat now that Emma's
turned into a massive liability. Will be interesting to see how
it all plays out. Love the work with Danni and Richelle, I think
you've done an awesome job with Danni's character. She really
leaps off the screen at me in each of these stories.
I'll be waiting in the wings, hanging out for more. Keep up the
awesome work! :)

Thanks, Dragon. As usual, you're praise is a little too much.
But, please... feel free to continue. ;)
As I've said before, I'm having a good time writing these little
stories, and I'm glad others are enjoying them, as well. I'm
also glad to see there are so many here who like to do this kind
of thing. I like reading stories done by others as much as I
like writing my own. :)

Oh, yeah... Hayden's such a calm, level-headed person. She's
just the girl for the job. :P
Fear not... I expect I'm going to get myself in plenty of
trouble, all on my own. ;)
