       A Vote Of Confidence (RP)
By: Dragons Den Date: April 26, 2015, 3:41 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The following is a quick scene I wanted to throw together (so I
did). It is set pretty much now. Okay, here goes...
       A Vote Of Confidence
Briana Evigan was scouring the Dragon’s Den training facility
for stablemate and DEF Featherweight champion Rachel McAdams.
Eventually Bri found Rachel in one of the cages, sparring with
fellow Featherweight Troian Bellisario. Bri took a moment to
observe, in awe at the way McAdams commanded the space inside
the cage and managed to always stay a step ahead of the far less
       experienced Bellisario.
Rachel managed to dodge a combo from her partner and threw a
takedown, quickly trapping Troian in a classic armbar. Bri
rattled on the cage and McAdams let go of Tro’s arm as both
fighters glanced over to see what was up.
Rachel stood and shouted across the room to a young woman
stretching along the wall. “Murgo! Get in here and knock Tro
       around a bit.”
She gave Troian a hand up and stayed close for a moment.
“Roberta will want to hit you. Let her lead this time and stay
light on your feet. Be patient and look for that opening.”
Troian nodded and Rachel made her way out of the cage to swap
       with Roberta Murgo.
Briana smiled as Rachel approached her. “Looking good champ.
       Tro’s not looking bad either.”
“She’ll be fine,” Rachel nodded, standing next to Bri to face
the cage and keep an eye on what the younger fighters were
doing. “Troian’s smart. She thinks her way through everything
and she’s not afraid to test out different options in the
training sessions. I think she’ll go far.”
“Anyway,” McAdams said giving Bri a quick glance, “what’s up?”
“Well,” Bri started, “it turns out a team has pulled out of Team
Warfare, which means we no longer face each other next month.”
McAdams smirked. “Damn, I was looking forward to an easy match.”
“Well you can kiss that idea goodbye,” Bri laughed. “You’ve got
       Emma Watson.”
Rachel turned completely from the cage now and stared straight
through Briana, as if judging her level of sincerity. “You’ve
       got to be kidding.”
Bri looked amused. “Nope, that’s actually happening.”
Rachel turned back to face the cage and sighed. “Well, that will
       be interesting.”
       “You’re telling me.”
“So, who do you get?” McAdams asked.
“Melanie Chisolm by the looks of things.”
Rachel gave her friend another glance. “You ready?”
“Well I was ready to face you, so… yeah, I guess I’m ready for
       anybody.”
“I know you,” Rachel smiled. “You’ll be ready.”
“You going to be ready for Watson?” Briana asked.
Rachel rolled her eyes playfully and sighed. “From what I’ve
seen, it’s not possible to be ready for Emma. Sometimes you face
someone so talented you’ve just got to do your thing and hope
you come out the other side alive.”
“That’s pretty much how I felt about facing you.”
       “Ha. But not Melanie?”
Bri shrugged. “I’ve seen Melanie lose before. I know she’s
       human.”
Rachel laughed. “Check out my fight with Emma. You’ll see we’re
       all human.”
They remained silent for a moment as they both focused on the
action inside the cage. Roberta had landed a few crisp jabs to
Troian’s guard, who bided her time before faking a hook and
shooting a successful takedown on Murgo. Rachel smiled
       knowingly, but said nothing.
Bri studied Rachel for a moment. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Of course,” McAdams smiled warmly. “What’s up?”
“Are you worried about this restructuring thing the UMMA is
       going through?” Briana asked.
“Because I’ll have to give up my DEF title and move into the
       SCQ?”
       “Yeah,” Briana nodded.
Rachel shrugged. “Not so much. It’s a new challenge, so I
welcome it. It’ll be worth the challenge if I can get my hands
on that SCQ title.” McAdams watched her stablemate, sensing some
       anxiety. “Are you worried?”
       Bri nodded. “I’m fu*king petrified.”
       “Why?”
“Well, sometimes you face someone so talented you’ve just got to
do your thing and hope you come out the other side alive,”
       Briana smirked.
Rachel laughed softly. “Okay smartass, who’s got you worried?”
Bri gulped. “Kunis and Mulheron are both advancing to the DEF,
so that leaves me as second to Coyle.”
Rach slid her friend another glance. “I see.” And she did.
Everyone in the UMMA was aware of Nadine Coyle’s prowess in the
cage. Of course it was doubly intimidating to Briana as a mere
prospect, since Nadine was a well-established veteran of the
       league.
“I’m not ready for that kind of competition and I know it,”
Briana frowned. “I was happy to duke it out with Mila while I
learned a few things. But, going straight up against Coyle now…”
“Well, I dare say you’re going to learn a few things taking on
       Nadine,” Rachel interjected.
“Yeah, like how much punishment the human body can take before
       it lapses into a coma.”
Rachel laughed. Even fearing her impending doom, Bri still had
that whimsical humour to her. “You’re the quickest study I’ve
ever known,” Rachel confided. “I mean that. I say take a look at
some of Nadine’s fight footage. You’ll find a weakness.”
“I’m not convinced she has one.”
“We all have one. Want to know mine?”
Bri smiled. “I already know yours.”
Rachel grinned. “See what I mean? You’ll be fine.”
Bri said nothing, and instead turned back to the cage, half
focusing on the sparring inside and half going over Rachel’s
words. Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way to stay alive
       against Coyle.

I'm with McAdams on this one... Bri's got that special something
that always gives her a chance, no matter what the odds. :)
Oh, and you can let Rachel know Emma's feeling the same way
about her. That one should be... something. :D

Haha, thanks Richelle! Bri will appreciate that extra vote of
confidence. And also, she'll probably need it! :D
And I'm sure Rachel will be happy to know the feeling is mutual.
That Watson/McAdams fight should be something alright. What
exactly, I don't know. But I'm sure it'll do Bri and others good
to learn that all champions are in fact human. Well, at least
       most of them...
