When It Rains It Pours

This is a little story Raccoon and I have concocted as a result
of Valentine's Day. Yeah, I know we're a week late. But, this is
what happened. It may be ongoing, but, still short. Here is part
1.
***
When It Rains It Pours:
Shay Mitchell was on top of the world. Just recently she had won
her Open Fight Night match against that troublesome Hayden
Panettiere, and since, her burgeoning relationship with Naya
Rivera was making her feel like this whole UMMA fiasco was
actually worth it.
And now, it was Valentine’s Day. Shay was excited as she had
made plans to meet Naya at what she knew was her favourite
restaurant.
Shay had arrived slightly early and taken a seat at their table,
awaiting her date’s arrival eagerly. An expensive bottle of
Naya’s favourite wine sat on the table beside a cute pink teddy
bear holding a large love-heart. The roses adorning the center
of the table sure looked pretty, as did Shay herself, dressed to
the nines in her elegant c*cktail gown.

Her patience however was soon tested as seconds passed, then
minutes, and when it neared an hour, Shay was finally losing
faith. By then she was hunched over the table, head resting on
her arms, staring dejectedly out the restaurant window, just
praying to see Naya walk into view.
She refused to believe Naya would stand her up without a call,
especially on Valentine’s Day of all occasions, and so she
waited, mindlessly checking her phone for a message or
explanation every few minutes. Shay checked her phone for what
must have been the thirtieth time, and when she realised Naya
hadn’t shown within an hour and a half of their plans, her
confidence was completely shattered.
Reluctantly, Shay grabbed the bear off the table and slowly
sulked past the hordes of happy couples to get to the exit. The
waiter offered her a sympathetic frown and once she walked out
onto the cold pavement, Shay’s emotions hit her like a ton of
miserably heartbroken bricks.
She wasn’t sure if the first drop on her cheek was the cold
winter rain or her overwhelmed tear ducts. All she knew was the
longer she stood there clutching the little love-struck teddy
bear in the rain, the more soaked to the bones she became and
the harder her tears started to fall.

Part 2
Shay’s will to walk had left and her mind wandered instead,
searching for a reason that would make sense for Naya to have
not shown. Perhaps her car had broken down and her phone battery
had died. Perhaps she was in some kind of trouble. She just
hoped that nothing serious had happened to Naya.
Once Shay did start walking down the street, she barely even
noticed the rain anymore. She was consumed by disappointment
instead. After wading through the wet streets for some time,
something broke her from her daze and she looked up, finally
taking notice of her surroundings.
On the opposite side of the street was an unfamiliar restaurant.
And as she stared in through the window, she choked and dropped
the teddy bear. It made a faint splash in the puddle at her feet
that Shay didn’t even notice, for her eyes were tearing up
again. In the restaurant she could see Naya sitting at a table
having dinner. And she was accompanied by none other than Hayden
Panettiere. There they were, together. Smiling. Laughing.
Shay was on the verge of breaking again when a car sped by a
little close to the gutter and hit a serious puddle, spraying
water all over her. As she shivered from the cold that pierced
her wet skin, and opened her eyes slowly, she found herself
staring down at the road. There lay the sad little teddy, filthy
and soaking, with a big tyre mark across its face.
And Shay knew exactly how it felt.

Part 3
Shay tried to stop herself from looking back at the restaurant,
but she couldn’t. As she glanced up again the scene suddenly
looked entirely different. There was no longer laughing or
smiling. Naya looked upset, angry even. They were arguing.
Almost out of nowhere, Naya threw a slap at Hayden’s face,
turned and stormed out of the restaurant.
Shay didn’t know whether to run toward Naya or away from her.
She was so conflicted that she was frozen on the spot. Then Naya
noticed her.
Their eyes met and now Naya seemed frozen as well. She hated how
miserable Shay looked. And she could guess why. Odds were good
that Shay had witnessed her and Hayden together. Naya felt
terrible.
At first, Naya was too busy processing Shay’s presence to move,
and Shay was still too conflicted to move. But as their eyes
locked for a few moments, that glance in the rain seemed to wash
everything away. Shay’s smile started to build and Naya finally
screamed with joy and ran towards her.
The two embraced and Shay may have held on a little tighter and
longer than usual. Then, Naya began to explain everything.

OK, now I need to know what the heck is going on here. Like...
NOW!
But, I can hold out for a little while. I'll just keep the
image of Naya slapping the taste out of Hayden's mouth to tide
me over. ;D
