The Friendship Test - Chapter 11 - Calling for Backup
Sophia Bush knocked on the apartment door and a voice from
behind the walls promptly invited her in. Sophia entered to find
stablemate Briana Evigan relaxing on the sofa, feet laid up and
a beer in hand as she watched the television.
"You look chilled," Sophia smiled.
Briana grabbed a beer from beside the sofa and threw it to her
friend. "And you look like you need to chill."
"You're probably right," said Sophia, catching the beer and
flopping onto the sofa beside Briana. "Best to enjoy these now,
you're not partying this weekend."
Briana took a swig. "Relax, I'm not fighting for another month.
We've got SCQ next, then your lot."
Sophia shook her head. "That's not why. We have plans Saturday."
"We do?" Briana pouted. "Oh come on, you know how I feel about
working on the weekend."
"I think you may feel differently about this Saturday," said
Sophia.
Briana looked dubious. "Why's that?"
"You know that friend of mine you wanted me to talk to?"
"The training help?"
"Yeah, our potential lifesaver. I met with her tonight."
Now Briana was genuinely interested. "Oh, how'd it go?"
Sophia had to think about that for a moment. "Interestingly.
But, she does want to talk some things over this Saturday."
"Gah, does it have to be Saturday?"
"Yes. She's busy during the week."
"So, who is it?"
"You know her. Or at least, know of her."
"You're being very mysterious."
"This has to stay under wraps. It's really risky what she's
doing for us."
"What, why? Is she from another stable?" Briana asked jokingly.
Sophia didn't laugh. "Yep."
Briana looked shocked. "Oh shit. Seriously? Who?"
"Danneel Harris, RSI."
Briana laughed.
Sophia again, did not. "The hell is funny?"
Briana was still giggling. "I'm sorry, the way you said that. It
made her sound like a secret agent." Briana made a salute and
put on a mockingly deep voice. "Danneel Harris. RSI. Reporting
for duty."
Sophia smiled, but still managed not to laugh. "You know, with
what she's doing for us, it isn't that far off."
Briana smirked at her friend. "So, not only is she from another
stable, but she's the leader of said stable. She could get in a
bit of trouble, couldn't she?"
"She could, for sure," Sophia agreed. "That's why this stays
under wraps as long as it can."
"Easy," Briana shrugged. "I won't tell anyone."
"I know." Sophia frowned. "I'm more worried about Olga."
"Well," Briana said, rolling her eyes, "obviously Olga's the
last person we'd tell."
"Yeah, exactly."
Briana raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"Olga already knows. She walked in on us having a discussion at
the Den tonight."
Briana frowned. "Oh. Shit. What do we do about that?"
"I have no idea," shrugged Sophia. "Try not to ruffle her
feathers I guess."
"Do you think she'll be a problem?"
"I don't know. If we don't tempt her, I think she'll leave it
be."
"We'll be cautious then."
"We will," Sophia nodded. "I'm not having Danni take a fall for
this."
Briana clinked her beer against Sophia's in a 'cheers' motion.
"Then that makes two of us."
"I'm really going to need you on this one," Sophia told her
friend.
"Of course you are," Briana grinned.
"And it starts this Saturday."
Bri rolled her eyes and fell back into her seat dramatically.
"Ah, shit. Fuck it, you're on your own."
Knowing Briana was joking, or at least hoping she was, Sophia
laughed and eased into the sofa, wondering just what Saturday
would bring.
