Pre-Fight:
Joe Rogan is again joined by Lost Wildcats fighter Katherine
McNamara at ringside in what many expect to be the bout of the
night.
Joe: Katherine thank you again for joining us for this bout. We
didn’t get to talk very much about the situation with Madelaine
Petsch. You two were teammates at one time and you were fairly
good friends. What happened that you had such a physical boxing
match and that you suffered a tough injury.
Katherine McNamara: We were Joe and I think we still are. I
finally got a chance to talk to Madelaine after that bout
between Jlo and Jen. She was sincerely sorry for what happened
but I told her that Injuries are part of this game and it was me
who suffered that injury. But I hold no grudge for that injury.
I asked her what she thought of a rematch and we both agreed to
that.
Joe: Well that is good to hear Katherine. Will you be sticking
around for this next match. I think that Drew is going to be the
referee and I would love to talk some more to you.
Katherine: Sure Joe I see Bruce Buffer enter the ring and
already Security is surrounding the ring. This should be good.
Bruce Buffer: Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome back to Sin City
Slugfest 5. What you are about to witness may be the fight of
the night as we get closer to seeing the Rookies in action. If
everyone is ready, lets get our referee up here so we can get
this going.
Drew Barrymore moves into one of the neutral corners and is
ready to put her foot down on these two girls who really have
something to prove tonight.
Bruce: Alright first off in the red corner, fighting out of The
Wannabees stable standing 5 feet and 3 inches and weighing in at
106 pounds here is Genevieve Hannelius.
The crowd erupts in cheers for Gen as she makes her way to the
ring followed by her stablemates Jayden Bartels and Anna
Cathcart. The rest of her stable follows close by.
Katherine: Looks like Gen has her whole stable behind her. I
hope that we don’t have any trouble here for this bout.
Bruce: And fighting out of the Awesome Aries stable standing 5
feet 2 inches and weighing in at a sleek 112 pounds here is
Laura Marano.
The cheers begin again as Laura makes her way to the ring
followed by her stablemates Lauren Donzis and Lily Collins. They
are followed by almost half of the remainder of the stable but
not seen in the group was Laura’s sister Vanessa. Genevieve
glares at Laura with menacing eyes but her corner mates talk to
her and keep her calm. Drew has motioned both girls to center
ring and lets both know that this is a boxing match and because
both agreed that the winner had to give up her bikini top. At
that point Genevieve slipped from her robe to reveal a sleek
black bikini. Laura did the same to show off her incredible body
in a pink bikini. The two get in one another faces and exchange
some words before Genevieve shoves Laura and nearly ignites the
brawl but Drew steps between the two and sends them to their
corners.
Katherine: This could be fun to watch. I have never seen either
of these two in a match but they are both very fiery and look
incredible.
Joe: Couldn't agree more. Laura looks amazing, pink is a great
color for her.
Katherine: But how will she look all bruised up and without a
top. You do know that this is a winner takes the losers top bout
right.
Joe: Yeah I saw that but lets see how this plays out. Laura is a
lot tougher than you think. Drew is getting our attention so its
time to get this on.
Round 1:
The bell sounds and both girls come out and instead of bumping
gloves, Genevieve shoves Laura and batters her with a series of
hard punches. Laura staggers backwards into the ropes and is in
instant trouble as Genevieve drives her into a corner and does
not let her out. Genevieve takes charge landing punches at will
and has Laura right where she wants her. Laura throws some wild
punches to try to escape out of the corner. Laura has good
footwork and manages to dance her way out of the corner but not
after suffering quite a few punches from Genevieve. The two
exchange jabs as Laura lands a few lucky punches but with little
effect as Genevieve retaliates in kind. Tempers flare and the
exchange of punches gets wild with both girls fighting along the
ropes. Its been a long round as the bell sounds and Drew has to
get between the two to break the two apart. Both girls are
covered in small red welts from the punches thrown and a small
bit of blood falls from both girls noses. Nonetheless Genevieve
wins the round 10-9.
Katherine: Great action from both girls I don’t know how they do
it at such a high pace.
Joe: Both look great at this point and their corners are hard at
work keeping their tops tight and cleaned up.
Round 2:
The bell sounds for round 2 and both girls are on their feet
issuing taunts. Laura charges in and batters Genevieve backwards
into the ropes and the hard hitting battle continues. Genevieve
catches Laura early with a left hook that slows Laura down but
little else as Laura connects with a couple of sharp jabs. Both
girls dance around and are on their toes and throwing some tough
punches. Both girls get hit and have to fight their way off the
ropes but neither is doing any serious damage and tempers
continue to build as they punish one another with solid punches.
Another long round with a lot of action but with little damage
and as the bell sounds to end the round the two have to be
physically separated. More red welts from punches being landed
and more action from the corners to staunch bleeding and to
tighten tops. Laura wins the round 10-9 and ties the card at 19
each.
Joe: Okay two rounds down and no one has gained the upper hand.
Katherine: Yeah but this works to Genevieve’s advantage as that
means that Laura is not taking control.
Joe: Do you have something against Laura, because I sense a bit
of hostility on your part.’
Katherine: Laura is just overrated and not as good as people
make her out to be.
Round 3:
Before Joe can reply, the bell sounds and the two bounce from
their corners ready to throw more punches. Laura shows some
incredible skill as she is able to deflect a lot of punches from
Genevieve who tries to gain some momentum in the bout. Laura’s
footwork is good but she doesn’t seem to be able to connect her
punches with a lot of power. Genevieve on the other hand is
moving well and connecting her punches with some power that has
Laura looking dazed. The bout goes on and both girls are giving
their all. Then with less than a minute left in the round Laura
stumbles and nearly goes down allowing Genevieve to really go
after Laura. Drew looks ready to step in but just as she does
the bell sounds and she has to send Genevieve to her corner as
Genevieve looked ready to knock Laura out. Genevieve gains
control with a 10-8 win of the round and takes a 29-27 lead on
the scorecard. Laura’s corner is concerned as blood from a cut
above her left eye is streaming down the side of her face.
Katherine: A very good round for Genevieve. She can end this one
if she wants to.
Joe: Maybe Laura will make another big comeback. I have seen
this before and Laura always comes out on top.
Katherine: I don’t think this will happen tonight. Genevieve is
gaining confidence and is on the verge of knocking Laura out.
Joe: We will see, the bell is about to sound.
Round 4:
The bell sounds and the two close in. Laura is guarding the left
side of her face but Genevieve is using her jab to get inside
Laura’s guard. Genevieve crushes Laura with an incredible left
hook and Laura falls back into the ropes. Genevieve connects
with another jab and a right hook and Laura goes down. Drew has
to push Genevieve to a neutral corner giving Laura a few extra
seconds to get herself together and get back to her feet and by
8 Laura is back on her feet but more blood is spilling from the
cut above her eye. Genevieve feels confident and starts taunting
Laura with short jabs meant to infuriate Laura who sinks into
the ropes and grabs Genevieve in a clinch. Laura works in some
short but effective rabbit punches and Genevieve intentionally
headbutts Laura. Drew misses seeing this as she is trying to
separate the clinch and the Aries camp is going nuts as Drew
gets the two separated and warns both girls about clinching and
makes a note about a nasty bruise appearing on Laura’s forehead.
Daniela, the Aries team leader is trying to calm her team but
with little effect as the Wannabees fighters egg the situation
on. The seconds tick by and the bell sounds to end the round and
immediately Daniela is on the apron trying to get Drew’s
attention. Still Genevieve wins the round 10-8 and has a
commanding 39-35 lead on the card.
Joe: That was unfortunate but I see Drew and Daniela going over
to the Judges where they view what happened earlier. Drew does
not look happy and is going over to Genevieve’s corner while
Daniela goes to help revive Laura from the punishment she took.
Katherine: I would have ended the fight right there. Those Aries
girls are just complaining because Laura is getting beat.
Joe: Come on Katherine, I know you saw what Genevieve did.
Katherine: Like it or not Joe, Drew did not see it because she
was busy trying to break a clinch. Stop complaining and fight.
Joe: Well I hope that Laura gets her stuff together and comes
back.
Katherine: Don’t count on it Joe, Laura might be good but
Genevieve is impressing me.
Round 5:
Laura is in a huge hole but the break between rounds might have
helped her. The bell sounds and Laura is slow to get to her
feet. Genevieve taunts Laura and goes for more taunting jabs,
easily working them inside Laura’s defense. Laura dances around
trying to avoid Genevieve but Gen lands a couple of those jabs
and has Laura against the ropes. Gen moves in and tries to
finish Laura off but Laura clinches Gen and the two struggle
against the ropes. Laura tries to switch the position but Gen
has the advantage and slams a couple of body punches into
Laura’s midsection. Laura is struggling and drops to her knees.
As Drew starts the count, Laura gets to her feet at 7 and looks
ready to continue but Drew sends Laura over to her corner to
have some blood wiped out of her face. The ring doctor takes a
quick look at the injury which Laura had suffered from Gen’s
headbutt a round ago and gives the okay for the bout to
continue. With those few extra seconds to recover Laura comes
out with renewed vigor and the two finish the round with a nasty
flurry of wild punches. When the bell sounds, Drew has to
separate the two but not before both girls tops nearly fall off.
The two corners word fast and feverishly to adjust the two girls
bikini tops and clean them up before the nest round would begin.
Genevieve wins the round 10-8 and leads the card 49-43.
Katherine: Well Joe, Laura showed some fire in that round but
Gen has total control in this bout.
Joe: You might be right Kat, but Laura is so fiery and she is
super competitive. So don’t count her out until this is over.
Round 6:
With their tops freshly tightened up both girls are on their
feet hurling taunts at one another threatening to rip off one
each other’s tops. The bell sounds and the two come out throwing
punches like they were fresh. Both girls bodies are covered with
red welts from the ferocious punches throughout the bout but
this doesn’t slow the action as both girls deal out some
incredible punishment. Genevieve uses her quickness and backs
Laura into the ropes where Laura fights back and throws Gen into
the corner above where Joe and Katherine are sitting. Laura
lands some powerful punches but Genevieve clinches up with Laura
and the two struggle ferociously above Joe and Kat. Drew tries
to get between the two to break the clinch but before she
succeeds, Laura drives a tremendous rabbit punch to Gen’s
midsection Gen is forced to sit between the ropes and Laura
lands a punch to Gen’s chest which propels Gen through the ropes
and nearly into Joe and Katherine's laps. Genevieve quickly
twists around and gets furiously to her feet.
Genevieve: Watch it Katherine or you will get some of what I am
about to give Laura.
Katherine just looks at Gen as Gen rolls back into the ring
where Drew tries to stop her to issue an standing 8 count but
Gen drives into Laura and the two go flying back into the ropes
where the boxing match turns ugly as both girls slam punches
into one another. Drew steps back letting the two go at it. The
two go at it hard till the bell sounds and the wild scene
continues as Gen has Laura trapped in a corner and is slamming
punches into Laura who is trying to hold onto Gen in a tight
clinch. Drew struggles to separate the two and has to rely on
the corners to help her get the two separated and to their
corners. Laura’s top is barely hanging on around her shoulders
and Lauren Donzis and Lily Collins address getting her top
tightened while Jayden Bartels and Anna Cathcart address Gen’s
top. Gen wins the round 10-9 and still has the lead on the card
with a 59-52 lead but after talking with the Judges both girls
lose a point for the wild fighting after the ring and Laura
loses an extra point for knocking Gen out of the ring leaving
the score 58-51 after all is said and done.
Katherine: Well that was interesting.
Joe: Are you okay Katherine.
Katherine: I am fine Joe. This is getting wild and I would not
want to be Drew. Nonetheless Gen has an almost insurmountable 8
point lead on the scorecard.
Joe: Maybe so Kat but that fire in Laura’s face is not pretty.
This is going to be an ugly finish.
Round 7:
The bell sounds and both girls are on their feet hurling taunts
and threats at one another and as Drew motions them to continue
the two lunge at one another and the two go at it toe to toe.
Gen is quicker than Laura and backs Laura into the ropes where
the two clinch and Drew lets them fight through it. Laura gets
in some nice rabbit punches to Genevieve’s body and Genevieve
staggers back a step allowing Drew to get in and break the
clinch. Genevieve throws a wicked left hook catching Laura in
the chest but with little effect as Laura slips to the side and
nails Genevieve in the ribs dropping Gen to the mat. Genevieve
makes it back to her feet by 7 but seems unsteady on her feet.
Laura does not catch on thinking that Gen was baiting her and
Laura uses her jab to back Genevieve back into the ropes where
Genevieve clinches Laura. Genevieve hits Laura with a couple of
body shots and then throws Laura into the ropes and nails her
with some terrifying body punches. Laura retaliates as best she
can and loops a left hook into another clinch. Blood and sweat
streams down both girls faces and down their bodies and both
girls have trouble seeing through their sweat getting into their
eyes. Finally the bell sounds and after a few tense seconds,
Drew gets both girls sent to their corners where one corner girl
adjusts their tops while the other wipes down their faces
clearing their vision. Laura gains some ground with a 9-7 win of
the round but is still down 67-72 on the official scorecard.
Joe: Well Kat, Laura is making a show of it. Can she do it
Katharine: I don’t think so Joe she has to clear 5 points in
three rounds and Gen is giving her all she can handle.
Round 8:
The bell sounds for the 8th round and both girls get to their
feet ready to end this bout. Genevieve comes out with a barrage
of punches but Laura moves easily to deflect those punches and
retaliates with a lightning quick series of punches that put
Genevieve into the ropes. Gen bounces off the ropes and lands a
stiff forward punch to Laura’s chest staggering Laura who falls
back into the ropes and throws a looping left that misses its
mark but Laura gets that arm around the back of Gen’s neck and
she wrestles Gen into another clinch. Both girls are starting to
feel the effects of this battle as Laura wrestles Gen back into
the ropes and uses her body to slow the bout down. Genevieve is
in a bit of trouble as Laura works in some short but effective
rabbit punches and Genevieve has to hang onto Laura to keep from
going down. Drew is trying to get the two separated but both
girls are hot and sweaty and hard to separate. The bell sounds
to end the round and both teams are shouting for their fighter
to hit their opponent. Another round for Laura who wins the
round 10-9 but still is down on the card 77-81.
Joe: Another good round for Laura. She shortens the gap.
Katherine: But Laura has little energy and her punches are not
effective.
Round 9:
Genevieve is on her feet and taunting Laura who is ignoring
Genevieve while listening to Lily and Lauren. Laura is asking
for her sister Vanessa, but Vanessa still has not shown up at
the venue. Laura gets to her feet and motions for Genevieve to
bring it on. The two engage and begin the round with Laura
trying to get inside Genevieve’s jabs but Gen dances around like
she is fresher than Laura and this causes a small problem when
Laura steps on Gen’s left foot and then drives her into the
ropes. Gen’s corner is crying foul and Drew stops the action to
warn Laura about kicking and Laura is claiming that it was an
accident. Gen charges in throwing several wild punches but Laura
easily dances away landing some quick combination punches. Gen
is looking irate as she misses connecting on a couple of stiff
jabs but Gen does land a straight punch to Laura’s forehead.
Laura staggers back a step but counters landing a quick barrage
of combination, jabs and hooks that force Gen back into the
ropes. Gen clinches Laura and delivers a couple of knees into
Laura’s midsection causing Drew to step in and warn Gen about
not using knees. Laura looks like those knees might have hurt
her but she dances in landing another group of jabs keeping Gen
against the ropes. Again Gen drives a couple of knees into
Laura’s body and again Drew separates the two and this time
turns to the Judges to take a point from Gen. When Drew motions
for the two to continue Laura moves in landing some heavy body
punches and the two again clinch up. Drew watches for more
illegal knees and sees Laura land a short knee into Gen’s thigh
and the two throw wild punches just as the bell sounds to end
the round and Drew has to separate the two. Drew moves over to
the Judges where a point was taken from Laura for throwing knees
and the corners work on cleaning and tightening the two girls
tops. Both girls are breathing heavily and covered in sweat
streaked blood. Laura despite losing a point wins the round 9-7
but still is behind on the scorecard. 86-88.
Katherine: This is turning ugly. Both girls are using a lot of
illegal kicks and knees. I don’t know what will happen next.
Round 10:
The bell sounds for the final round and the two come out on
shaky legs throwing wild punches. This lasts for the first 30
seconds before Gen goes down after Laura connects with a stiff
hook to Gen’s head. Drew starts the count and even as Gen gets
back to her feet at 8 she looks very shaky. Gen moves against
the ropes to keep her upright and Laura moves in landing some
effective body punches. Gen counters with a big time jab
catching Laura off balance and Laura goes down but rolls to her
knees as Drew begins the count. Both girls are gasping for air
and their teams are trying to cheer them on and Laura catches a
quick glimpse of her sister standing just inside the auditorium
door. The two close in and exchange some quick punches and then
back away. Both still have the fighting fire in their eyes as
neither was going to quit and the two drove in with another wild
exchange of punches that had blood and sweat flying from the
impact. Drew kept her eye on the action for the final few
seconds of the round as Laura was driving Gen into the ropes and
connecting with more body punches. It's getting bad as Gen is
not fighting back and Laura refuses to stop. Laura is landing
body punches at will hammering lefts and right into Gen's body.
Gen does her best to keep her feet but Laura's fists are like a
blur and Gen is getting demolished. Laura drives one final hook
deep into Gen's gut and she goes down for the second time in the
round. Gen isn't going to get up and Drew waves the bout over
with only 11 seconds left in the fight. Laura Marano wins KO due
to a Punch to the Stomach at 2:29 of the 10th Round.
Post Fight:
Katherine: Wow what an ending, I had better leave now before I
get into trouble. Maybe I will be back later. Thanks again Joe.
Bruce Buffer: Ladies and Gentlemen I think we are all out of
breath after that one. Drew Barrymore has stopped this fight
after 10 incredible rounds and here is your winner Lauraaaaa
Maranoooooo.
By this time Vanessa is in the ring and lifts her younger sister
high in the air in victory.
Joe: Laura can we get a quick word. That was a brutal and
physical fight. How are you still standing.
Laura: My heart Joe. I refused to lose to Miss Gen. Oh, and by
the way this belongs to me.
With that Laura goes over to Gen and yanks yanks her bikini top
off and waves it over her head in victory. Genevieve humiliated
escapes into the arms of her stablemates and makes a quick exit
out of the ring.
Joe: I forgot about that Laura. You deserve to win Gen’s top.
That was an absolutely incredible bout. You have really improved
in the ring.
Laura: I have been working on my footwork, its not perfect but I
feel it is improving and that has helped me move in and out of
my opponents attack.
Joe: You can definitely tell that you have improved. So where
does this go from here.
Laura: Who knows Joe, I would box Genevieve again but she may
not want to take another beating. This Wannabees team is young
and dangerous, and they aren’t afraid to fight.
Joe: But she really had your number for most of the fight and
built up a 7 point lead on the cards.
Laura: True but Genevieve has some talent but she has a bit of a
temper and that was what cost her in our bout.
Joe: Good information, I hope that you and Genevieve fight
again, you two were terrific in that ring and that was one of
the most impressive comebacks in Sin City Slugfest history. So
let me ask this before I let you go celebrate. Katherine
McNamara was not very kind in what she said about you. What is
that all about.
Laura: You know Joe I don’t really know. Our two stables have
had some issues lately and she probably thinks that she wants a
piece of me. So all I am going to say about that is if she wants
a piece of me, she knows where to find me.
Joe: If I am not mistaken you also have issues with Miranda
Cosgrove of the Wildcats team as well as Devore Ledridge and
possibly Skai Jackson who we will see later tonight in the
Rookies tourney. What about those girls.
Laura: All good opponents. They know where I am. As far as
Miranda, we have a lot of issues and I am surprised that she has
not tried anything yet.
Joe: Is that what was occupying Vanessa that she was not
ringside with you.
Laura: Not really Joe, I asked Vanessa as well as Chloe Moretz
to watch my back but not interfere in any way and at any time.
Lily and Lauren did a superb job in keeping me going and both
did their best to keep my top on. This was a brutal and hard
bout and Genevieve could very easily have beaten me. So I am
grateful for Lily and Lauren for helping me out.
Joe: You seem to have issues with a lot of fighters. Do you
think it has anything to do with you or Vanessa?
Laura: Not at all. Vanessa and I are without a doubt the most
popular sisters in the UCC and we have a lot of haters. While we
never go and look for trouble, rest assured that we will never
back down and if we are challenged we will fight to the bitter
end.
Joe: I heard that Dove Cameron from the Badass Barbies has been
bad mouthing you. She is now in your division so maybe you will
met her in the cage.
Laura: I'm not sure what rumors she's been spreading but like
all the other haters, Dove knows where to find me and if she is
foolish enough to start something then I will give her a good
old fashioned beating like she has never seen.
Joe: You sound very confident but Dove is one of the better
fighters in the UCC.
Laura: Maybe she used to be but not anymore. If we meat in the
cage I will beat her much worst that Ai Miyazato did at the last
tournament. If she wants to put on some gloves and fight me in
the ring then beating she took from Francesca Capaldi will seem
like a vacation to her.
Joe: Well I will let you go and celebrate with your team.
Congratulations again and best of luck in your future matches
here in the UCC. Stay tuned ladies and Gentlemen because we have
more action on the way. Ladies and Gentleman, your winner, Laura
