McAdams lays it out (short RP scene)
By: Dragons Den Date: November 25, 2014, 3:47 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This scene is set the morning after the recent DEF End of an Era
       event.
       * * *
Rachel McAdams was in Dragon’s office as requested, the morning
after her successful defence of the DEF Featherweight title.

Dragon threw a magazine on the desk in front of Rachel. She
glanced over it to see it was the latest issue of TKO Magazine.
And on the front was a close-up of her smiling face.
Rachel jumped back playfully. “Good lord, it’s too early in the
morning for that to leap out at you.”
Dragon laughed. “Honestly, I don’t think too many people would
be complaining. The shoot looks good. You look like the bonafide
       champ that you are.”
She picked up the mag and inspected it closely, obviously
pleasantly surprised. “I haven’t been on one of these for a
while. It’s nice. Makes me feel wanted.”
“It’s a special one, too,” Dragon grinned.
       “Why’s that?”
“It marks a milestone for us.”
       “Really, what’s that?”
Dragon nodded. “It’s the first cover of TKO Magazine that’s
graced one of our fighters since this place opened.”
Rachel grinned. “Awesome. Now I do feel special.”
       “Wait ‘til you see this…”
Rachel leaned over the desk curiously as Dragon opened one of
the desk drawers and reached inside. He pull out an envelope and
       handed it to Rachel.
“Let’s call it a performance bonus.”
“Wow. Thank you.” She eyed the envelope thoughtfully. “Is this
       another first?”
       “What do you mean?”
“Am I the first to get a… bonus?”
       “Well, technically, yeah.”
She bit her bottom lip and placed it on Dragon’s desk. “I don’t
       want it.”
       Dragon looked confused. “Say what?”
“I don’t want it,” Rachel repeated. “We’re supposed to be a team
here. If anyone, that should go to Sophia. She’s basically
holding this stable together while you’re splashing money about
like a fool. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but you need to
       get your priorities right here.”
Dragon looked dumbfounded. He hadn’t expected that kind of
       reaction at all.
Rachel continued. “You know how I got on that cover? By
receiving the training and advice I needed. Now, I may have
gotten it here, but I sure didn’t get it from you. I got it
because your stable leader is the most selfless person in the
universe who puts her teammates ahead of her ego. I think you
       should take some tips.”
       Dragon frowned. “I’ll be honest...”
       “Good…” Rachel said tentatively.
“I’m a little p*ssed off,” Dragon started. “But, I’m also
impressed, and I definitely respect you standing up for your
       teammate.”
He paused and looked at the envelope. “Are you sure you won’t
accept it? You did technically earn it. It’s the bonuses from
the magazine, not just some liberties I’ve taken from around
       here in your honour.”
She leaned in closer. “You’re not listening. I didn’t earn that
alone. I’d much rather you use it for actually helping the team
and making Sophia’s job more manageable. My salary is already
the highest here. It’s enough to cover being the Featherweight
       champ.”
His frown finally broke away. It was evident that Dragon had a
hard time being p*ssed and impressed at the same time. “Okay,
that’s pretty big of you,” he said sincerely.
Rachel turned to leave the office, but Dragon called out to her,
stopping her in her tracks. ”Oh, Rachel?"
       “Yes?”
       “Thanks for being straight up.”
       She smiled. “Thanks for listening.”
A small smile creased his features as well now. “I’m not all
       that bad, you know.”
“No, I never thought you were. Just naive.”
       And then she left.
Dragon was still leaning on his desk as if it was propping up
his shocked body, too bewildered to be able to stand on its own,
when Briana Evigan entered the office.
She smirked at him smugly. “I heard some of that.”
       “F*ck. Why?”
“Because you talk loudly and you don’t shut your doors.”
Dragon sighed. “Know anything you shouldn’t?”
“Am I supposed to know you’re a douche?”
“I suppose,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Seems like everyone
       knows that already.”
“I heard Rachel standing up for Sophs.”
“I didn’t realise Rachel and Sophia got along so well.”
“I think Rachel’s just a little more aware of what’s going on in
       this place than you are.”
Dragon looked a like a kid being told off for raiding the cookie
       jar.
“She’s right you know,” continued Briana. “Sophia’s running this
       joint. I know you’re just a pen-pusher, but even if you can’t
help her on the lower decks, you need to make sure she’s getting
       the support she needs.”
“She seems to be getting plenty of support from her teammates
       today.”
“Yeah, we worked it out a little late, but we’ve been shown the
       light.”
“It’s a good thing; you all working together so well.”
“Yeah, the last week or so it’s served us well. But you’d be
surprised how many times Sophia’s saved your ass and what she’s
had to do to keep this place of yours afloat. A couple months
ago we couldn’t win a match, and now we’re on the cusp of
looking half decent and it’s because of what Sophia’s had to do.
Seriously, I’ve no doubt we’re better off with her than you, but
you’ve got to make sure she remains able to do her thing.”
Briana looked the envelope over and then stared back through
Dragon. “I swear, if I come back tomorrow and you have a new
desk or you’ve added a wing to the building or some sh*t I will
personally be dragging you down to the cages and beating on your
ass ‘til you come to your senses.”
Dragon grinned a little. Again, it seems he was more impressed
than p*ssed. “Careful, I might like that.”
Briana’s serious façade cracked slightly as well. “You’ve been
warned. Seriously – you’ll never quite know how much you owe
       her.”
Briana went to leave, but paused. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I
have to go help Sophs set up a surprise thing for Rach. We'll be
celebrating in your glorious conference room in fifteen. Be
there, and this time don't be a douche."
And with that, she also left.

Well, this was a 'short RP scene' so I added a a short smiley rp
scene myself. (There's no deeper meaning in it.)

Haha! I was completely confused as to what that reply meant...
so my reply reflected my own confusion.
But I like your story. It oddly makes more sense than mine, in
       the end.

Maybe it's just me, but I think your story makes quite a bit of
sense. It seems Sophia has an ally she might not be aware of.
And having the winningest member of your stable support you
       can't hurt. ;)

Thanks very much, Richelle! It sure is nice to have unexpected
       allies. :)
Thanks for reading, you two. ;)
