my friends Brendan Schaub and Randy Couture have rejoined us for
this battle between former teammates Julianne Hough and Ai
Miyazato [/font]
[font=arial]Brendan Schaub: [/font][font=arial]Thanks Joe I have
been looking forward to this matchup since the two came to visit
us a couple of hours ago.[/font]
[font=arial]Joe: [/font][font=arial]What do you mean Brendan.
What I saw a couple of hours ago was two opponents watering down
what I was hoping would be the fight of the night.[/font]
[font=arial]Brendan: [/font][font=arial]What I mean is that I
think that this will be the fight of the night because they are
competitors and as competitors it doesn’t take much to light a
fire.[/font]
[font=arial]Randy Couture: [/font][font=arial]I agree with
Brendan this will be a great fight. It might take a round or
two but once they get started their tempers will flare and it
will be a war. I expect it to go 6 rounds before Julianne
knocks Ai out.[/font]
[font=arial]Brendan: [/font][font=arial]I agree with Randy but I
think it will be much shorter, Only 4 rounds and Ai will go
down.[/font]
[font=arial]Joe: [/font][font=arial]You two don’t give Ai much
of a chance, Ai has the heart of a champion and she will give
Julianne a big fight. I guess we are about to find out because
here comes Bruce for the introductions.[/font]
[font=arial]Bruce Buffer: [/font][font=arial]Welcome back ladies
and gentlemen and all of you fans. I hope that you are ready to
see another bout so if you are ready lets get this started.
First in the red corner, fighting out of the Strikeforce stable
help me welcome Julianne Hough.[/font]
[font=arial]Julianne strolls to the ring taking her time to
allow everyone to see her. She is escorted to the ring by her
teammates Ashley Tisdale and Lucy Hale who help her slip out of
her robe and allow Julianne to flex and stroll around the ring
confidently.[/font]
[font=arial]Brendan: [/font][font=arial]Wow Julianne looks
great. She looks ready to destroy her opponent.[/font]
[font=arial]Bruce: [/font][font=arial]And in the blue corner,
she fights out of the Awesome Aries stable. Here is Ai
Miyazato.[/font]
[font=arial]Ai Miyazato follows her friends and stablemates,
Danielle Kang and So Yeon Ryu. Ai slides under the ropes and
into the ring and slides out of her robe. Ai flexes and shows
the crowd her athletic body.[/font]
[font=arial]Bruce: [/font][font=arial]Your referee for this bout
is Suzuka Ishikawa. [/font]
[font=arial]Bruce leaves the ring and Suzuka takes over bringing
Julianne and Ai to the middle of the ring and giving them the
rules for the bout and what she expects from both fighters. It
was a bout with 10, 5 minute rounds with a 3 knockdown rule and
a standing 8 count after each knockdown and if either competitor
ws unable to continue the fight was over. The two girls shook
hands and returned to their corners ready for the bout to
continue. [/font]
[font=arial]Round 1: [/font][font=arial]The bell sounds and
Suzuka brings the two to center ring and the bout is under way.
Neither girl wastes any time as they begin throwing punches with
impressive accuracy and power. The action is quick and exciting
and both girls use a variety of jabs and counter punches mixed
with occasional hooks and other counter punches. Neither
fighter seems to be hurting the other as the round ticks away
and Suzuka is not having to do much work as Julianne and Ai are
playing it clean. The action slows ever so slightly but the
precision remains. The round draws to a close and the bell
sounds ending the first round and both girls are breathing
pretty heavily. Their corners go to work to calm both down and
encourage both to do better. The round was pretty even but Ai
seemed to be a bit more aggressive and wins the round 10-9.
[/font]
[font=arial]Round 2: [/font][font=arial]Both girls are on their
feet as the bell sounds to begin the
2[/font][sup][font=arial]nd[/font][/sup][font=arial] round. The
two come out a bit more cautious with lightning quick jabs and
counter punches. Julianne has a slight bit of a reach advantage
and is using it to her advantage keeping Ai at a distance with
her laser guided punches. At least that is how it was looking
as the two circled the ring looking for an opening. Then as the
seconds ticked by Julianne took a risk and went for a knockout
punch but Ai saw it coming and countered with a furious barrage
of punches to Julianne’s body that had Julianne a bit staggered.
Julianne fell back in the ropes and Ai followed her in trying
to gain some leverage but Julianne returned the favor and hit Ai
with a big overhand punch that caught Ai just right and knocked
her down. Suzuka moved in and motioned for Julianne to a neutral
corner as she issued a standing 8 count. Ai has been caught by
surprise and seems upset at herself as she gets to her feet.
Suzuka makes sure that Ai is okay and motions for the bout to
continue. The two go on the attack and there is a flurry of
punches as both throw punches at will. Julianne tries to keep
her distance but Ai dances in and out quickly and is doing some
damage. The bell sounds and Suzuka gets the two separated and
to their corners. Julianne wins the round 10-9 and ties the
card at 19 each.[/font]
[font=arial]Round 3: [/font][font=arial]The two fighters are on
their feet ready to go as the bell sounds and the two come out
and continue what they started in the last round. The action is
very quick as Ai dances around looking for an opening. Julianne
is able to counter effectively and keeps Ai from doing a lot of
damage. The two are beginning to go at it pretty hard and both
ladies are handing out and taking some punishment. Neither of
these ladies are a push over and neither is stepping back as
they continue to throw punches and landing with regularity.
After an exhausting couple of minutes the bell sounds and Suzuka
again has to step between the two to get them separated.
Julianne wins the round 10-9 but it was a very close and
physical round and the scorecard now reads 29-28.[/font]
[font=arial]Round 4: [/font][font=arial]Both fighters are back
on their feet before the bell. Both Julianne and Ai are in
great shape and both are looking fresh even after such a wild
round. The action begins where it was left off last round.
There are a lot of body shots being thrown and it looks to be
taking effect on Julianne more than Ai as Miss Miyazato backs
Julianne into the ropes and for the first time in the bout,
Julianne looks to be in some trouble as she clinches Ai. Ai
keeps the pressure on as she hammers Julianne’s body with some
short but effective body punches. Julianne looks staggered but
she has the ropes to keep her upright. Julianne clinches Ai but
cannot escape from the relentless Ai who keeps her trapped
against the ropes. Ai tries to gain some leverage and allows
Julianne to twist her into the ropes. Julianne though takes the
advantage and hammers Ai with a straight punch to the chest. Ai
retaliates with a straight punch of her own to Julianne’s chest
and Julianne suddenly drops to her backside. Julianne gets to
her feet quickly but Suzuka pushes Ai into a neutral corner so
she can administer a standing 8 count. Julianne falls back into
another corner and Suzuka looks into her eyes and is about ready
to stop the bout just when the bell sounds to end the round. Ai
wins the round 10-9 and ties the scorecard at 38. [/font]
[font=arial]Round 5: [/font][font=arial]Ai is on her feet before
the bell even though Danielle and So Yeon are trying to calm her
down. Ai is really excited and looks in great shape. On the
other side Lucy and Ashley are working feverishly on Julianne.
The bell sounds and Suzuka checks on Julianne. Satisfied that
the bout can continue, She motions the bout to continue and the
two close in. Ai goes to work but Julianne uses her jabs to
keep the dangerous Japanese fighter at a distance and this is
working effectively giving Julianne the time to recover and keep
moving. The round is slow but still with some energy and both
girls are working hard. Julianne lands some effective jabs but
Ai manages to dance away before Julianne can hit her with a
followup hook or undercut. The round goes by quickly and
Julianne looks to be in a little better shape than the last
round. Ai begins to show some frustration and works to back
Julianne into the ropes but Julianne keeps using jabs to keep Ai
from any damage. Things start to heat up and the punching
starts to get wild. Just as the bell sounds, Ai has Julianne
backed into the ropes and opens her up with a short punch to the
midsection. Julianne retaliates and suddenly the two go wild and
Julianne actually throws Ai to the mats. The two battle on the
mats for several long seconds before the corners and Suzuka can
get them separated. Ai wins the round 10-9 and gains a 48-47
lead on the card. [/font]
[font=arial]Round 6: [/font][font=arial]Suzuka goes to each
corner and warns the two fighters that this is boxing and not a
brawl. The corners try to calm Julianne and Ai down. The bell
sounds with both back on their feet and the two close the gap
working their punches. The spectators cheer the two on and both
girls are feeling the crowds energy as they exchange punches and
counter punches. The action continues to be physical and the
two continue to work effectively in landing jabs and trying to
land combinations but both are able to block and counter some of
those combinations. The round goes by quickly and both girls
are beginning to show signs of how physical the fight has gone
as they get tied up in the ropes with less than a minute left in
the round. This leads to the two fighters working in close and
this helps Ai who is able to land some short punches to
Julianne’s body. Ai breaks free of the clinch and throws a
huge hook to Julianne’s ribs. This is met with an even bigger
left hook to Ai’s jaw and Ai staggers backwards. Julianne
drives Ai backwards into one of the corners and starts unloading
more punches. Ai covers up and clinches up with Julianne which
allows her to use her short punches to Julianne’s midsection.
Julianne is taking a lot of punishment and Suzuka is trying to
separate the two. The bell sounds and for the second round,
tempers flare out of control and Julianne throws Ai to the mats.
Ai sweeps Julianne’s legs and brawl number 2 erupts. Punches
fly wildly and the crowd cheers as the two twist and fight on
the mats. Both corners come to Suzuka’s aid and get the two
separated but some damage has been done as Ai has a nasty bruise
on her right cheek that is beginning to bleed and Julianne has a
bruise under her right eye. Suzuka is in conference with the
judges while Julianne and Ai hurl threats and insults at one
another. Suzuka has deducted a point from both fighters cards
leaving Julianne the winner of the round 9-8 and ties the card
at 56 each.[/font]
[font=arial]Round 7: [/font][font=arial]Suzuka is ready to start
the next round but the respective corners are still trying to
calm the two fighters down. The bell sounds and the corners
give some last second advice. The fighters advance and the two
converge with sharp jabs. The two exchange jabs and work inside
with some damaging combinations. The pace changes to a slower
pace as both concentrate on their punches. The round goes by
and the crowd cheers as both land some effective punches. A
couple of times the two get clinched up but Suzuka is able to
get the two separated and the action continues. By the time the
bell sounds, blood is beginning to stream down the side of both
girls faces. Suzuka gets the two to their corners and to the
attention of their corners who try to clean up their fighters.
Julianne wins the round 10-9 and takes the scorecard lead
66-65.[/font]
[font=arial]Round 8: [/font][font=arial]Both fighters are
looking weary but when the bell sounds they are on their feet
ready to continue the bout. The action continues with more jabs
and counters and both are looking to land combinations but both
are dancing away and wary of one another’s power. The crowd
wants more action and Julianne is trying to make that happen as
she lands some good jabs and as the round flies by, Julianne is
making better contact and gets in some combinations. Blood is
again beginning to drip down the side of Ai’s face and Ai looks
in trouble. Julianne continues to pummel Ai until the bell
sounds to end the round and Ai has to be helped to her corner
where Danielle and So Yeon work feverishly to revive Ai. On the
other side Julianne is still careful of her ribs which have
taken a lot of punishment. Julianne wins the round 10-9 and
leads the scorecard 76-74.[/font]
[font=arial]Round 9: [/font][font=arial]With potentially 2 more
rounds to go, Ai looks to be in trouble and Julianne is getting
her way in the ring. The bell sounds and Julianne looks ready
to finish Ai off. Ai though manages to dance away from Julianne
and the crowd is starting to get restless as they want to see
more action. Ai looks to have caught her breath and is doing a
good job of making Julianne chase her and occasionally getting
in a couple of kidney punches that look worse than they really
are. This round goes by pretty quickly and Suzuka only has to
separate 2 clinches after Ai has landed some of her kidney
punches which are beginning to affect Julianne. As the bell
sounds to end the round, Ai manages to get inside one of
Julianne’s long jabs and hurts Julianne with two more hard
kidney punches. Julianne is not happy with that and neither is
her corner as Ashley and Lucy look ready to come through the
ropes. Suzuka maintains order and gets everyone to their
corner. With that last minute work, Ai wins the round and
narrows the score to 85-84 still in favor of Julianne. [/font]
[font=arial]Round 10: [/font][font=arial]Julianne is getting
pumped up by her corner as Lucy and Ashley are giving her a lot
of advice and the same goes for Ai’s corner. The bell sounds to
begin the final round and the two come out and bump gloves to
begin the round. Ai goes for another combination jab and hook
to the kidneys but Ai misses the hook and only catches air as
Julianne slides to the side and hits Ai with a punch to the side
of the head. Ai wobbles and nearly goes down and Suzuka moves in
and issues a standing 8 count. Ai remains on her feet and is
ready to continue. The two dance around trading jabs and the
crowd is cheering them on and both fighters are feeling the
energy as the round goes by fairly quickly. With less than a
minute left in the round the two fall into the ropes in a clinch
and both Julianne and Ai work heavy body punches through the
clinch. Suzuka is trying to get the two separated and the crowd
can sense that tempers are starting to flare up a bit. Suzuka
finally gets the two separated but as they back away, Ai throws
a wild left hook catching Julianne on the side of the head and
Julianne goes down. Suzuka pushes Ai to a neutral corner
warning her about that last second punch and then issues the
standing 8 count to Julianne. Suzuka finishes the count and
motions for the bout to continue. Julianne looks furious and
goes right into Ai hammering the Japanese girl with a ton of
punches. Ai falls back into the ropes and Julianne follows her
in with a solid left to the temple. Ai drops to her knees and
Julianne pushes Julianne into a neutral corner. Suzuka issues
an 8 count to Ai but now there is only 15 seconds left in the
round. Julianne moves in and for the next 15 seconds, the two
slug it out wildly until the bell sounds. Suzuka moves in and
separates the two sending them to their corners. [/font]
[font=arial]Brendan: [/font][font=arial]Wow that was a great
battle but who won.[/font]
[font=arial]Randy: [/font][font=arial]Who cares this was the
fight of the night and it was a physical battle.[/font]
[font=arial]Joe: [/font][font=arial]Randy said it right this was
a great fight maybe we can get a word from Ai or Julianne. Ai
can we get a word over here. That was an awesome battle between
you and Julianne. Any thoughts.[/font]
[font=arial]Ai: [/font][font=arial]Joe, This is why I challenged
Julianne, I knew that she would fight me with all she had and
she did not disappoint.[/font]
[font=arial]Before Ai can continue, Bruce Buffer enters the ring
and Suzuka pulls Ai away to get the decision.[/font]
[font=arial]Bruce: [/font][font=arial]Ladies and Gentlemen we
have us a winner here tonight. We hope that you enjoyed this
bout and here is the results. After 10 rounds of maybe the best
boxing of the night, Judge 1 has ruled it 95-94 in favor of
Julianne, Judge 2 rules the fight 95-94 in favor of Ai, and
Judge 3 has ruled the fight 96-95 in favor of your winner
tonight, Julianne Hough. [/font]
[font=arial]The celebration begins and Joe, Randy and Brendan
are virtually pushed from the ring as the Strikeforce team
converges on the ring and lift Julianne high in the air. After
a couple of minutes of holding Julianne in the air, they set her
down as Ai pushes forward and looks ready to continue their
battle. Instead Ai offers her hand in congratulations and the
two embrace and then the two former hated enemies walk back to
the locker rooms[/font][font=arial].[/font]
[font=arial]Joe: [/font][font=arial]Well Randy and Brendan
thanks for joining us tonight for this bout and we hope to see
you two again for our next bout in this fabulous series.[/font]
