Voices [7/25/17]

Headphones around her neck, hard rock pumping out of them where
they circled, Nera wandered into the psychology classroom,
rolling a piece of Apache Tear between her fingers. Full of
frenetic energy, she paced around the room, traced spines of
books and shimmied to her music, a bob in her head and a wiggle
in her hips. Tight black pants clung to her hips and thighs, but
fell loose around her calves and over her knee high boots. Her
long sleeved tee covered her back, her arms and most of her
torso, but for a heart shaped keyhole. Her hair was tied back
from her face with a silver scarf, and her throat was encased in
a thick leather choker. Her hands were also covered in sleek
leather gloves, much like her collar.
Out loud, the girl wondered, "I wonder who else I get to
tolerate in this class. And I wonder if this teacher is legit,
or the quack, "Medicine For Everything" sort. If she's that
second one, I won't be learning much." Muttered the young woman,
a goth-y look about her, from the intense focus behind the eyes
that could shift quickly to boredom and pity, to the
'take-no-shit' slash of her full lips. Meh

"And if your professor was more the later would you seek a
different class?". The soft voice echoed through the room, quiet
yet still clear even over the music pumping from the headphones.
A click of heels against the tiled flooring, oddly originating
not near the door but the desk atthe front of the room. Upon
inspection a Raven haired woman stood leaning against the desk.
Her hair tumbled down her mid-back, a stark contrast to the
blood red top that hugged her curves that she wore. Still she
was put together with an air of professionalism.
The woman raised herself up and took a few steps towards the
young woman in the classroom. Crimson eyes took in the girl,
although a keen eye could see there was more to the womanzs gaze
than just mere observation. As she approached the smell of
citrus strengthened. It was clear this was the keeper of this
room. A mischievous look crossed her features as she spoke
again. "You can make the decision for yourself
as to her legitimacy, even with my opinion I would not look to
bias your views.. A smile played at her lips.
"As for introductions. I am Elena Ravenwood.
Professor of Psychology."

Studying the professor, head tipped one way, hip shot the other,
the young woman shot off at the mouth. "Nah.
I'd keep silent in the back of the room, do my time to get
credit for the course, and then move the fuck on. Meanwhile,
reading every book you had available and learning what I wasn't
from you." A graceful hand made a shooing motion, as if
waving away an annoying insect. "I hate
doctors, I hate medication, and I especially loathe anyone who
believes in fixing a person with drugs until they're too numb to
feel anything or just shut the fuck up about it."
She crossed her arms in front of her chest.
"So, what is it, Teach? Do you actually know
your shit, or are you useless?" Asked the girl bluntly, a
hand pulling a clove from behind her ear, putting it to her lips
and with a flick of fingers, lighting it. With a clean inhale,
the scent of burning clove perfumed the air, blending strangely
well with the citrus and spice already present.

A sly smile played on the older woman's lips as the young woman
before her spoke. "Well whether you deem my teaching worthy of
attention or not the books within these walls will be free for
your use as long as you are a student here. I have several
copies of most, so don't worry about taking them and keeping
them for a while."
As the girl before her continued Elena nodded understandingly.
She wove her fingers together for a moment as she thought. "As
I said, only you can truly deem whether I am useless or
beneficial as a teacher to you. However I can promise that I
know what i speak of. I was observed many an interaction of the
human heart and mind in my years. Their allure is what brought
me to dwell where I do now." A light frown crossed her face as
she thought. "To medicate and cut out all the pain denies the
human experience. How does one live or truly feel joy if
they've never felt or overcome pain. Choosing to dull one dulls
the other. Anyone who wishes that is not welcome in my
classroom." She said in all seriousness. The demoness enjoyed
the human mind, and any attempt to dull that was akin to a sin
in her mind.

The younger woman smirked. "You're one step
ahead of a couple of other teachers I know. Only medicating I do
is alcohol on occasion and a little illicit here and there. Acid
is a fun ride." Said the young woman as she turned to pick
out a few books. Around 7-10 books found their way into her
hands rather quickly.
When she turned to look back at the teacher, her chin tilted up,
pride bordering on arrogance in that motion.
"Are humans experiments to you? Tools and
things to move around a chess board. Cuz I'll warn you now,
Professor, I'm not gonna react well if you start playing me like
a pawn. Just because I'm a human doesn't mean I'll bow down,
take your or anyone else's shit, or doff my cap. I'm hear to
learn, but if I think I've been mindfucked, I'll retaliate so
damn fast, you will think you have become the fucking
Exorcist."
Abruptly, the young Mage sat down. "How do
you think the occult and psychology intersect? Do you think that
they do? What are your experiences with MPD?" Out came a
notebook and pen, and Nera sat poised to write.

The woman smiled as Nera gathered up a side handful of books
from the shelves. One this eager to lean always found
themselves in a fond light. At the first series of questions
Elena shook her head. "I do not see humans as
expirements. Ll admit to being intrigued and almost enraputred
by the human condition, but certainly do not wish to play chess
master. Demons and angels are not immune to it either. I
merely like to observe and offer guidance where I can."
As the notebook came out the older woman leaned against the desk
prepared to answer. "I do believe the occult and
psychology are intimately related. Even if you look back to the
fathers of the science many of them dabbled in the occult.
Freud, Jung, even others expirements often took them to the
occult. One even researched thought transference. As for MPD.
I have seen a handful of cases. They are always different and
unique. Some are the results of someone being pressed to far
and some are a harmonious balance from the start."
