Astronomy and Divination
By: Astrid Arcturus Date: July 20, 2017, 7:02 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Within this classroom, the student steps into a room that seems
to be simply a slice of space. Constellations are able to be
seen, and they seem to shift with the seasons, as the
hemispheric changes would occur. Various space phenomena occur
that reflects the real world's own occurrences, though an
astronomy student of much attention may notice that there are
more occurrences than even the Earthly government can track.
The room is consistently dark, lit only occasionally by quartz
balls that contain a certain glow within. On the shelves, there
are various divinatory mediums, from cards to runes, to tea cups
and leaves, to that of the I Ching. Bibliomancy, a safe area to
practice Oneiromancy, and books that speak of safe astral
travels and other magics of the psychic mind. Crystals, clean
cloths in various colors, sage and other known cleansing agents
are available to students. It seems that both forms of learning
go hand in hand to the professor.
The seating is welcoming, and very much seems to be tailored to
each student, to their needs and desires. Snacks are welcome,
and mess is unlikely.

Amatus walked into the room, brown eyes scanning the room as he
adjusted the black messenger bag on his back. "..Is..is this the
right room? I was told to come here for astrology." The young
man said as he pulled a small piece of candy and popped it into
his mouth, savoring the sweet as he gave a smile to the teacher.
"...I'm almost definitely in the right room." He looks around,
mouth slightly agape as he takes a soft breath, studying the
constellations.

"Looking for what's written in the stars? What stories the Fates
would speak through the movements of the celestial bodies, and
the pull that they have over our own destinies, being of
stardust and celestial choruses? Angel, Daemon, feet in both
worlds makes no nevermind. We are otherworldly, and so the stars
have a significant effect upon us. When is your date of birth,
Amatus?" Spoke the teacher from her seat beneath the
constellation Leo. Her dark hair blended with the void of the
sky, her skin carried the same milky shine of the stars and her
eyes echoed the Milky Way.

"October Twenty and Four, Miss...Astrid, is it? October Twenty
Fourth. Why do you ask, Miss? I thought it was Astronomy?"
Amatus cants his head to the side, his brow furrowing slightly.
"Being..Y'know..A halfling, as I a..I'm curious, I
suppose...Father always said that the stars spoke to him. I'm
curious as to what he meant." As his head was tilted, his jet
black locs moved slightly from the ponytail they were in,
causing Amatus to sigh softly and tie his hair up once more.

Astrid smiled, the curve knowing and content, both. "Yes,
this is Astronomy. And Astrology, or Divination, really. And
Celestial History. Which would you like to hear about, as I
teach all three classes? My classroom is one that is very safe
for those who explore the psychic plane. Those who have
journeyed far, near and away. I also see those who wish to
travel the stars, the pathways therein, who want to understand
that we were born amidst such things. And though they be so very
far from us now, that those stars are a part of your soul."
Explained the teacher. Her head tipped just so, once more, and
she nodded. "A child upon the cusp of balance and the psyche.
That of the weighing of sins, and the journey after death comes.
It is an interesting space between Ma'at and Anubis. What is the
weight of your heart?" Came the cryptic question, along with
a good natured smile from the teacher.

Amatus opens his mouth to speak, but it closes shortly after.
"The..Weight of my heart?" Amatus repeats softly as his head
dips to the left. His arms cross, nose wrinkling slightly as he
tried to think of an acceptable answer, or rather, one he
thought was acceptable. As he wracked his brain, his eyes
suddenly narrowed, a smirk slowly creeping across his features.
"..Professor? Did you use those two specific gods deliberately?
I'm..Curious as to if it was pure coincidence, or if you knew
that I am of Egyptian heritage due to my mother." Amatus slowly
pulls the messenger bag from his shoulder, slowly placing it
into a chair, which he stands behind. He also takes off his
denim shirt slightly, revealing the distressed bone white shirt
he was wearing under it. "Because if so, that is a hell of a
coincidence."

The professor answered his question with one of her own. "Did
you know that some can see the strands of Fate and where they
tug in another's path? Some are able to walk the web of destiny
as easily as a spider navigates their own web." The teacher
moved to take a leather seat at the center of the classroom so
as to be able to talk more clearly. "What would it mean to
you to have such a thing be the case? Would it change who you
are or where you have come from? Would it affect you or shift
you fundamentally?"

"Not in the slightest, if we're being frank. Why would it? If
someone could see my fate and where it leads, it wouldn't change
one bit who I am. I often find that staying true to one's self
if the best course of action." The man gives a lazy shrug,
watching the woman move to the center of the room. "I would be
curious, no doubt, but it wouldn't change anything that's
already happened. Hell, it would barely prepare one for the
future."

A gesture of her hand indicated neither one thing or another.
"My point exactly. Choose carefully the questions you ask. If
the answer is not something that that may change your mind, or
be meaningful, hesitate to ask it. You never know when a
question is not free, or when the knowing of something has a
cost you cannot see." Warned the demoness.
"Tell me, what star draws you? What planet? What path would
you take amongst the stars? Where does the weight of your heart
take you?" Her hand reached out to spin a globe and slowly,
the stars began to revolve.

Amatus stopped, pondering what was just said. His mouth slowly
opened, the faintest smirk playing upon his lips as he let out a
'Huh' sound. "For the first time in the last 6 years, I've
actually been given a bit of good advice." He stops, head
swinging towards the door for a split second, before it swivels
back towards Astrid. "Though, to be fair, some questions I ask
are simply so I have more information." He shrugs, pondering
the question asked as he lets out a soft breath.
"I've gone through life up to this point with no purpose. Some
part of me hopes that my being here will shed some light on
that. All I need is the faintest clue..After all, those are the
ones that are the most telling, are they not?"
