Is he entitled?

One of my mates has been in business for 6 months. His income
has dropped quite significantly, but is he eligible for any sort
of tax credits?
His under 25, and works around 16 hours on his business.
He completed the tax credit calculator and it said he couldn't
claim anything
What do you guys think? I thought you could claim if your income
was below a certain level? Never claimed myself, so I have no
idea, any of you guys have? How was did the process work?

never claimed myself,but maybe if he's single, ie not married/no
children, then benefits may not apply ?

Yeah, he's not eligible.
Surprising, since he's never claimed government benefits before
and has worked.
How do you think I should advise him? Tell him to get a girl
pregnant and they can then be given a council house and a wealth
of benefits?

Depends how many kids, could get a bigger house and more stash
