       New build. 26650 C8.
By: MRsDNF Date: July 7, 2013, 5:06 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This is a light I've just built for the OL comp on BLF. The
driver used was the infamous IOS 75 million mode 4 amp driver
which is only putting out 3 amps on a fully charged 26650 and 3
modes. This will be getting changed for a 7135 driver with a
couple off extra chips added and the reflector changed as the
one used has stains on it that will not remove safely. I'll let
the pictures do the talking so you dont have to listen to me
       waffle on.
My trusty old lathe I bought as a young bloke in about 1981.

       Different components being machined up.

This is the plastic forward mounted switch block being machined
in the lathe. The end mill is a drill bit that has been ground
       flat on the cutting end.

       The finished product.

  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140016.jpg
The pill is 30mm OD and made from copper.

I thought I had made the bezel from brass but later discovered
it was bronze when it was a different color to the tailcap which
I cheated on by making it from a 1'' BSP brass plug.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140026.jpg
It hurt buying this but I could not scrounge a piece off brass
       to make this from.

The XM-L2 T6 0A led was reflowed onto a copper star. I had to
wait for Mrs DNF to go out to do this on the kitchen stove.

The switch ass mounted in the one piece flashlight housing.

       The finished housing.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140074.jpg
       And finally the finished product.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140079.jpg
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140086.jpg
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/P1140091.jpg
The first shot is an EA4W on turbo.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/EA4.jpg
Secondly is a C8 running at 3 amps with an XM-L U2 cool white.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/Camo.jpg
And thirdly is this light running 3 amps. IT has a much larger
hot spill and hot spot than the above light but is not that
obvious because the hot spot brightness overwhelms it.
  HTML http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w415/mrsdnf/OL%202013%20comp%20light%20build/OLbuild.jpg
And finally the hand shot. This light without a battery is
heavy. Heat disperses evenly throughout the whole light. With
the light running for an hour the temp did not go above
       (educated guess) 50 Degrees C.

       Thanks for reading.

No it's just me Steve, you know those days when you chase you're
own butt round in circles ?.. That's me today LOL don't worry
I'll sort it and you'll see what I'm up to :)
OKay I think I sorted it now. I wanted to keep the original
image resolution so it's not a .gif but it had to go in it's own
page as it wouldn't post in this thread :)
