       navigate between different pages
By: ChibiM Date: July 1, 2013, 8:06 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Just another thing I noticed.
When Im using a touchscreen (kindle fire) and I surf the web, I
usually have a little difficulty to go to the next page on many
       websites.
So I would suggest to change the layout of the pages index (dont
know how to call it) at the bottom of the pages.
When a thread has many posts, you have to go to the next page
quite often, and at many website, like CPF the NEXT button is
       only a very small
triangle icon. So its really hard to press that button.
Some websites have this organized much better.
So I put a few options together of some flashlight related
       websites, and give my suggestions.
  HTML http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2890/9181840507_a36b3f133e_z.jpg
       Lets start from the TOP.
CPF has this not well organised (I know they have a mobile
version as well, but I don`t use that at all)
Its really hard to click on the little triangle to go to the
       NEXT page.
But it has a text box with LAST (which I never use)
They do have nicely spaces numbers, so it would be okay to
navigate, using the numbers instead of the next button.
       intl outdoor
Intl outdoor has this better organized by showing the NEXT
       button clearly.
(But they don`t have a LAST button, which I think almost nobody
       uses anyway)
but the space and size of the numbers 1 2 3 etc are too small
       DX.com
I would suggest to copy the DX.com layout.. somehow that looks
really clear and easy to click,
also with using my mouse with my laptop.
The space between the numbers 1 2 3 etc.. are well spaced, and
it is easy to navigate between the pages.
The numbers are also nice big enough to click on.
and there is a clear NEXT button to go to the next page.
       Goinggear
This is again not the way you should do it. The numbers are too
       small and too close together!!!!
and the Next (little triangle is wayyyy to small)
but it has a very nice feature to choose how many titles you can
       see per page!
       Thats a really nice feature.
       Manafont
Numbers are too small, and not nicely spaced.
I like the DX layout with the numbers actually sitting in a
       square box..
Manafont does have a nice NEXT button.
       Kaidomain
Number are nicely colored in blue.
Spacing is well done. But I keep going back to DX with their
numbers in the square boxes.. that really helps.
The next and last button are too small.
       wallbuys
Nice to choose between 40 80 or even 120 lights per page (I know
that this may not be desirable on a flashlight forum, instead of
       a flashlight shop)
I like the orange colored box around the number to see on what
page you are. Many websites only have a BOLD letter, which is
still not easy to see, I like this with wallbuys.
they also have a nice NEXT and LAST button
       Fasttech
They have many numbers. Which may be a little too much? maybe
not. at least when it is nicely spread on the page, and not
       crammed in a corner.
it depends on the size of the letters. But they also miss a nice
       NEXT button..
it has a bigger triangle than CPF for example, but its still not
as clear as a nice NEXT button.
       When possible, I would suggest;
Have a clear NEXT button (not sure if you need a Last button,
       because thats not used often)
       Have the numbers well spaced.
Use a colored box (or number) to show at what page you are,
rather than a BOLD black number.
       Would these changes be possible?

       Hi Chibi,
It's a very valid suggestion and something we ourselves would
like to improve. The problem is that it's a core part of the
style template we use and isn't something that can easily be
changed without advanced knowledge of CSS coding.
In the meantime though I will try to find a solution because I
too would like these page navigation buttons to be a lot more
       user friendly for mobile browsing.
The forum is configured for Tapatalk though so that's always an
option. I've never used it myself but hopefully someone who does
could give us some insight ?
       Thanks again
       Spas

I agree most parts of the OP, but please don't remove the
"Last"-button. It is used when checking latest news from a
       rarely visited thread..

_the_ has a valid point. I didn't think about that in threads,
I was more thinking about having 100`s of threads in a forum, at
which I won't use this Last button at all, but inside specific
threAds I actually use it sometimes.
       Thanks for pointing that out!
