that I have torn this light apart so to speak, and despite it's
few flaws it is still a great light without
question.</span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em;
margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family: Arial,
Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 20px;
background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: 'comic

big setback, but for me, and I honestly say this, The light
performs surprisingly well enough for it not to be an
issue.</span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em;
margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family: Arial,

runtimes </span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em;
margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family: Arial,

0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family:
Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 20px;
background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: 'comic
sans ms', cursive;">I am hoping the forthcoming beamshot
comparisons, where I directly compare this light with the TN30
will highlight what an exceptional perfomer it really
is.</span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom:
0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family: Arial, Verdana,
sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 20px;
background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: 'comic

I think you will be surprised.</span></p> <p
style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right:
10px; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;
line-height: 20px; background-color: #ffffff;"><span
style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', cursive;">The quality of
the reflector most certainly helps a great deal. In fact, as you
may well notice in the image above. The reflector finish quality
is actually superior to TN30.</span></p> <p
style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right:

10px; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;
line-height: 20px; background-color: #ffffff;"><span
style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', cursive;">When I first
received the light I wasn't so struck on it , but the more I use
it the more I like it.</span></p> <p style="margin-top:
0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family:
Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 20px;
background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: 'comic
sans ms', cursive;">The mode switching near the head of the
light makes a whole world of difference too, it's just
incredibly pleasant and intuitive. It makes this light a
definite 'Hassle Free' carry.</span></p> <p
style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right:

10px; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;
line-height: 20px; background-color: #ffffff;"><span
style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', cursive;">The overall build
quality and machining is exceptional. The light has a strong and
sturdy, solid feel about it with a good balance and a good
weight.</span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em;
margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-right: 10px; font-family: Arial,
Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 20px;

issues but nothing that couldn't be easily resolved in a minute
or two.</span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em;

here are the beamshots. For ease of viewing, most of these

style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size:

style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size:

the TN30 is driven much harder, but you'll be surprised how well
this R43S does.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'comic

extra emitter really does help this light perform exceptionally
well.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms',

around with this light, I can now honestly and fully understand

beamshots</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'comic sans

taken exactly 1 meter from a whitewall. The aim here is to
highlight the beam profile and hotspot
intensity.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'comic sans

serves to highlight artefacts in the beam

for the delay on the beamshot. The first set of shots were all
wrong so I did them again this evening.</span></p><p><span
style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size:

comparisons will help to highlight the potential of the
R43S.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms',

Haha yeah. But to be honest it's quite incredible how well it
performs considering the drive. Thanks mate
ps.. sorry about the lined paper look, I had a tough time
bringing this one over due to all the nested code in there. I'll
have to write a new post from scratch for my next review I think
rather than modifying on old template :D

no problem, if yoy ever fancy it modding I'd be happy to give
it a go, the construction is similar to my fit 40s and I think
drilled and tapped sinkpad mounts with xm-l2's is an easy mod
and would cut heat sag to a minimum plus boosting output, not
that a lack of mods is sending me stir crazy or anything :o

Fantastic review Spasmod. Very comprehensive. Like you said in
the review, its not very hard driven but not all lights need
driving to the point off needing a nuclear power station to run
it. Nice light and thanks.

Very nice review.
That pic of the Jacob's bezel nestled inside the 4 x T6 light
looks slightly dirty, for some reason... ;)

Nice review, Spas! Kind of reminded me of someone else's review
style. I like it. ;). The only change I'd make is the font. Kind
of hard to read on some smaller screens.
I always had an interest in that light. Good to see its a nice
one.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
Beamshots now added. (what a difference it makes after creating
a new post from scratch rather than reformatting old ones :D )
It came across perfectly this time.
Overall though, fantastic light. I was blown away with it
especially after checking the tailcap current.
Stranger things have happened I guess but this is one of them
lol. I guess it must be that extra LED and the top notch
reflector quality.
It's never going to be a thrower though but for a ton of light
for general use it's awesome.
@Graham, I might take you up on that ;)
ps.. yeah thanks for the Johnny. Fonts are definitely not my
strong point. I'll keep that in mind for my next review. What
would you recommend ?
