Uses for 10280's
By: AMK Date: April 23, 2013, 3:40 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Due to a small misunderstanding >:( I now have 4 AW brand
10280's. So rather than try to send them back I started looking
around to see what I can use them for.
Not very much it would appear :'( The only light I have found
so far that takes them unmodified is Peak Eiger 10280
HTML http://www.oveready.com/peak-flashlights/10280-peak-eiger/prod_158.html.
Does anyone know of any anything else that takes these straight
up or with a little modification. I am a flashlight mod virgin
but have a background in electronics (if rusty) so I know my way
around a soldering iron.
I also thought if making up a spacer and using one in my 2AAA
mini maglite?

Thats a bummer ordering or getting the wrong items. Whats the
rating on the batteries?

They are AW 10280 LiCo unprotected
HTML http://www.oveready.com/battery-/batteries/aw-10280-li-ion-rechargeable-battery/prod_242.html.
[li]10 mm Width (AAA diameter)

[li]28 mm Length (two thirds AAA length)
[/li]
[li]3.7 Nominal Volts (4.2v peak)[/li]
[li]180 mAh[/li]
The fault was mine I bought them privately and misread
the description.

Gees. 180mHa isn't much. The only suggestion I have is a very
small custom made key ring light with a kd 7135 driver or such
with the ultra low mode, .04 amp set as the first mode turned on
along with an XP-G2 led. I dont know a thing about Maglite's.

I have found a spec sheet if it helps

Note that ER10280 are not Li Ion. That is a totally different
thing, they are designed for VERY low current loads.
If OP refers to Li Ion cells (I thinks so) the cirve will be
different.

Not Li Ion but LiCo as stated above.
The PDF refers to them as Li-SoCl so I am a little confused.
Still I would like to find a use for them.

Are the AW ones LiSoCl? I would not have expected that.
LiSoCl get used in devices where high capacity and very low
drain are required. Wireless sensors is a popular place. For
LED lights, these would only be useful around 5 to 10 mA of
drive current. They have a virtually flat discharge curve,
which is nice. Note the LiSoCl chemistry is a primary which is
not rechargeable.

Can you get a spacer and use it in a Tank07 e09 or fenix LD01 ?

LiCo is Li-Ion and is rechargeable. LiSoCl is totally
different, not rechargeable.
I think a spacer for the Tank007 could be made easily enough.
Tinfoil wrapped around a piece of wood doweling (or a piece of
pencil) for a quick hack job.
