What do you recomend.

As I recently posted on another thread I would like to
upgrade/replace one off my old mini Maglites.

I want to stick with a nice slim 2AAA cell, as this can then fit
into pen loops either on my uniform or in pouches and pockets.
The one I use most has an early Maglite led conversion which was
good when I first fitted it but I am sure there are better
options these days.
So should I get a complete new light (Oh go on then if I must)
or just update the old one as I know it fits my storage option?

Hi AMk. I cant recommend a light but it will help others if they
know how much off your money they can spend. Good luck on your
mission.

;D
For single mode and reliable I'd suggest one of the following
Pelican 1920 67 lumens and throwy for a pen light
HTML http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?329838-Pelican-1910-amp-1920-Review
Streamlight Protac 2aaa 80 lumens, I have the smaller 2aaa micro
stream type and it throws like the pelican with 48 lumens

511 Altac plx 69 lumens, first option that's less throwy do too
a short Orangepeel reflector.
A Preon2 with xpg2 has 180 lumens but I don't like the tail
clickie. I don't own there new pen looking version and can't
comment on it

Alongside what CH recommended above, I would also recommend
either the Olight i3S
HTML http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/olight/olight-i3s-eos.html
HTML http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/olight/olight-i3s-eos.html
or the Fenix LD01
HTML http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/fenix/fenix-ld01.html
HTML http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/fenix/fenix-ld01.html
Both are good lights. Perhaps a little more than you're willing
to spend but money well spent on either of those to be honest.
If you definitely want to stick with a 2xAAA light then the Four
Seven Preon is my other recommendation.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps.
The Atac PLx has it so far but I do like the Preon 2 as well.
I am a bit of a researchaholic so looking around at the options
is half the fun.
Please keep the ideas coming.

While it is certainly possible to mod your old AAA MiniMag, it
wouldn't be easy, nor cheap, nor really as reliable as it once
was. Your best bet is a new light and if I were you there is
only one I would consider at this time: The Preon2 from
FourSevens (

2*AAA with 180 lumens in crazy but it also has modes and in low
mode (5 lumens) it will run for 30 hours. Build quality is
superb according to those I know who've bought one already. ;)
You can find them for $50 if you shop around online.
