       Hi Gents,
       I'm building another 3-up neutral-white XM-L torch, using the
       wonderful PilotPTK programmable module.
First off, the heatsink. It has been machined from a billet of
       6061 aluminium:

The center hole has been threaded, but the screw will only be
used to center and apply pressure to the module while the Arctic
       Silver cures:

Next up, we will have a look at the optics and retention ring.

Absolutely awesome ChicagoX. I can't wait to see some more.
Clever idea with the tensioning screw, and all those threads for
       heat transfer to the body.
       Hurry up with moar !!

This is the PilotPTK module. It has all of the electronics and
the LEDs on one board, for a compact and streamlined install:

Chicago X. Your machining is fantastic. No amount of OL trick
photography would make mine look as smooth as yours. Very nice
       work.

It's quite astounding the level of talent we have in our midst.
It's great seeing it come together like this. That's going to be
       spectacular. Thanks for sharing ChicagoX

Oo oo oo, I shall be picking my kit up tomorrow, it arrived at
dads on Saturday, cant wait to see all this in the flesh.
I also ordered a battery carrier last week, I'll report back on
       its suitability to purpose.
       I'm all excited now 8)

I finally had some time to work on this.
Here is the stock cell holder, in parallel configuration:

The modded holder required a few traces to be cut, a spring
swap, and a through-hole plugged with copper:

The light is now wired up, assembled, and in working order:
  HTML http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d18/ChicagoX/Torches/3-up%20build/photo_113_zpsfccd0889.jpg[/img]
I dare you to stare at this and turn it on:
  HTML http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d18/ChicagoX/Torches/3-up%20build/photo_213_zpsdebc43ca.jpg[/img]
This is the only part that could be improved, IMO - I think a
       blue boot would look better:

All buttoned up, and ready for a night on the town:

       Night-ending beamshots to come.

She's a real beauty CX ! I'm certainly looking forward to the
       beamshots.
I'm curious about the current draw and what modes you programmed
       too :)
In the mean time, this is now a sticky topic :)

I plan on reprogramming the module, but here are the beamshots
       with the current 3-mode arrangement.
This is very much a wall-of-light torch, as seen below.

I took the hounds for a nice 40+ minute walk last night, and the
light was used on HI the entire time. The body got very warm,
but not uncomfortably so...the internal temp sensor worked
perfectly to maintain the set max temperature.
As an aside, the local police sargeant was patrolling the
neighborhood, and stopped to chat and admire the light. He could
not believe that something so small was illuminating such a
       large area.
The output compared favourably to his truck's headlights...a bit
less than both, but more than one (with me standing in front of
       the other.)
He actually laughed out loud after holding his 3D Maglite in one
hand, this torch in the other. :D
