Re: Anithea, the Ring of the Fallen...

Nerrocen was frozen, his head pulled away from the blaster's
muzzle. He had not expected this. For once on this flight, there
was a look of fear in his eyes. But inside he was burning with
anger. He felt even more pressured as the bridge shook. For some
reason the crew seemed not to notice it. They were going on
about their business.
The General got down, furious. "I... Apologize... Prince
Queseon... For insulting you..." he admitted, shaking not with
fear, but anger. This Imperial will pay as well. For
interfering. For humiliating me. he thought bitterly, clenching
his fists tightly.
The Prince honestly didn't want to see anyone's head coming off,
so even though he was angry, he said, "Yes, yes... I forgive
you..."
The General rose back up with a sigh, scowling off in some
direction. He mumbled, "Your compassion will be the death of
you, incompetent child."
Queseon stood there nervously, waiting for things to loosen up.
The navigation crew below were the only ones who seemed to
notice. Two of them were looking up, confused. Queseon looked
down at them and shook his head. One of them shrugged, then they
returned to their jobs.
"Thank you, Commander," said Queseon after Nerrocen backed away
and fled the bridge, red-faced. "I really do appreciate it."
OOC: And finally, I've done it!~ ^.^

Telera pulled Queseon to the side and lowered her voice so the
crew would not hear, "He's going to try to kill you on this
mission, and now possibly me. I can feel his intentions and they
are not benevolent. Why do you put up morons like him? I've been
told that his military career is.. weak, and his morals are even
weaker. He is going to very quickly become a threat to this
mission and all of our lives, if when the time comes and you
hesitate.. I'll kill him." She said as she locked eyes with
Queseon briefly and then returning to the scanning station she
was observing.
The Stormtrooper approached Queseon and saluted quickly. His
voice came out deep and raspy, as if he had breathed fire into
his lungs and never recovered, "Your Highness, I wanted to
inform you that if the need should arise my men and I will give
our lives for yours, as we would for our Princess. But I warn
you not to endanger the Princess and to not get in our way of
protecting her. She is our first priority." He finished, still
standing before Queseon.

Immediately, the Prince felt on the spot. How could she have
told? Sure, Nerrocen was a jerk, but surely he wouldn't dare
have such intentions. Especially with Gaeran around.
He nodded to Telera, "Alright... If in case those are his
intentions, it must be done."
Queseon wondered why Telera said 'he would hesitate'. He had
never killed anyone or anything in his whole life, and was
hoping to keep it that way. Perhaps it was because of how his
father had raised him.
He turned to the Stormtrooper after and said, "Yes, of course."
After that, he returned to the edge of the bridge, staring at
the once green planet ahead. It was far larger than Idahria, but
smaller than Telidaki. The Prince's thoughts now drifted
elsewhere. He had the resilience of his father, the Emperor. It
seemed that he was unaffected by what had just now happened.
"General Nerrocen..." he mumbled, clasping the rails on his
post, "Could he really be planning such a thing?"
[hr]
Nerrocen had returned to his temporary quarters, pacing back and
forth. This wasn't good. He should have expected that Gaeran
would send for someone to protect his child. It was like saying
he didn't want to rely on the Imperial Idahrian Guard. But that
wasn't the case. The Astelle Guards were now, according to
Nerrocen's subordinate, all over the bridge.
"I'll kill that shrimp and be done with it!" he growled,
pounding his desk with both fists. His teeth were clenched as he
hissed at the air. "After he's out of the way, all I have to do
is wait on the Emperor to step down."
The subordinate outside, perhaps the youngest crew member,
leaned against the wall, hands over his mouth. He looked
genuinely vexed. He was an Acotali, but as a drone, he had an
obligation to the Prince. His life was in danger. Scared of what
the General could do, he ran in the direction of the Bridge, but
behind him, Nerrocen's Quarters' door opened and a flash came
from it. The drone fell forward in the corridor. He was dead.
The sound from Nerrocen's gun was masked by the sound of the
engines outside, so no one was aware.
Nerrocen had no idea either that everyone on the ship was
admitted into a registry. Back on Idahria, on an officer's
computer, one of the blue dots on the screen went red. The
officer rose from his chair, surprised. Could it be a
malfunction? No... Impossible. Someone on the ship had
apparently gotten into an accident, and he was fully aware that
it was the drone.
Alarmed, he ran off to report to his commanding officers what
had happened.

Telera and the Stormtroopers prepared their EV suits and
equipment, the Stormtroopers were carrying packs on their backs
that acted as sensors, communications, specimen samplers as well
as the standard survival equipment. They checked over their E-17
Blasters as they awaited departure for the planet's surface.

OOC: Did we need a shuttle? I didn't know that... >.< I was
going to land the ship on the planet. It's don't think it's all
that bad down there. I guess I should have explained the ship's
facilities more beforehand. I'll post first, then do edits
later, ja?
Finally, the Marulk was in the atmosphere of the Planet
Iodrillon. As expected, the ship could withstand the rough winds
that had now began to blow across the planet's surface. Below,
clouds of what looked like dust rolled everywhere. It was snow.
Iodrillon had become cold. Just like Idahria, after Aedes, the
source of heat and light was snuffed out.
There were however, tree skeletons scattered about in large
clusters, showing what had happened before the planet froze
over. The Marulk was the only source of light, as of now, while
it descended. The crew on the bridge stared out into the wastes
in awe. They felt pity for who or whatever had lived here. The
ship's landing gear was engaged long before the they touched the
ground.
Seeing no other choice, the nav crew landed the Marulk on a
slope, so the entire ship was tilted to the left. Queseon took a
deep breath, keeping his hands on the rails as the ship settled.
It was time. He was going to lead a crew out into this
wilderness, and he hoped he wouldn't fail.
By then, it seemed that Commander Askaari was ready to
disembark. She and her men were in suits to be able to navigate
more easily and safely. Queseon and the Imperial Guard were to
wear some kind of hazard suit as well, and had brought a
lightweight tracked vehicle as infantry support and equipment
transport.
"Would you like to ride on the m.42, Commander?" Queseon asked
the Princess, pointing at the light tank piloted by some Astelle
soldiers.

"I'm not a delicate flower, I've been in over 47 combat missions
and commanded 15. I can handle a little snow. A leader does not
ride while their men walk." Telera said as she primed her E-17.
"I think you should lead the way, be the first alien life to
step foot here and honor the fallen." Telera stepped aside to
allow Queseon to pass.

Queseon nodded when he realized what he'd said. His father would
have done the same. The crew in the tank was there in case
something the infantry couldn't put up with. Like he himself had
said to Nerrocen on the bridge, he was to be in charge because
his father said so. And like Commander Askaari said, his
experience had nothing to do with his ability to lead.
The Prince took a deep breath and flexed his fingers around the
stock of his weapon.
It was a Huhtala Modell 01 Sonic Rifle. Unlike most sonic
weapons, it had a larger range, but a slightly weaker force.
Nonetheless, it was a formidable weapon. Queseon stared at it a
moment and gathered up his courage.
Two red rotator lights spun wildly above the ramp seconds before
a voice came from the hidden speakers in the cargo hold.
"Dropping the ramp," it said, followed by a series of loud
mechanical clicks. The ramp opened slightly, hesitated, then
went down completely until its edge was touching the snow.
Queseon looked at the Imperial Guard standing on either side of
him, all waiting for him to move. They were all Astelle
Troopers, armed with heavy blasters.
"Right... Let's move," Queseon finally said, stepping forward.
Because he was an Astelle, the cold didn't bother him or his
Troopers at all. As he walked slowly down the ramp he
immediately observed his surroundings. Nothing but white and a
few specks of black here and there.
Behind Telera's group was Nerrocen's, consisting of Acotali
Guard. None of them were in on Nerrocen's scheme, mainly because
they were Imperial Guard. They were supposed to be loyal to the
Emperor. He glared after the young Prince as he trudge along
through the snow like a dying Meopusti.
He doesn't deserve to be leading a squad of Imperial Guard!
thought the General bitterly, gritting his teeth. He's nothing
but an impudent child!
Last to leave the ship was the tank. It had little trouble
navigating the unfriendly terrain, and it was also much faster.
On its rear was an antenna that the ship's radar could
recognize. If in case the group had gotten lost, the tank crew
could use the antenna to be able to get back to the ship later
on.
[hr]
Queseon wasn't sure where exactly he was headed, but he was
trying to see if anything besides the withered trees were
moving. The snow was everywhere, and it was almost restricting,
even to the tank. After half an hour of trekking through three
feet of snow, Queseon decided to stop. According to his mapping
device, there was a deep crevice ahead, and it had been filled
with snow, beyond it appeared to be a recess. A cavern. There
was no way the tank could come back out if it headed in.
"There's likely to be some kind of life form down here," the
Prince guessed, turning to face the whole group. "We should
start our search here. Hopefully some animal had been smart
enough to take shelter."
The Astelle Guard prepared to move in, and the Acotali Guard
merged with the group. Forced by his training, General Nerrocen
went on to stand behind the Prince.
Here now, he began to hatch a plot for the Prince's accidental
demise. He had made a big mistake to choose a cavern. There were
a lot of places to hide a body there...

Telera's Stormtroopers were probing the area with their
scanners, looking for hazards and life signs and Telera was
staying close to Queseon.
Telera's hand rested on a cylindrical metal device attached to
her hip as she scanned the area with her helmet's sensors. "I'm
not picking up anything significant, a few thermals that may be
life forms.. or geothermal tubes hidden by the terrain. We
should be careful on this snow, we may step into a hole, never
to be seen again." She turned to the Senior Stormtrooper,
"Captain, you were there on Hoth the day Death Squadron
attacked. Do you have any advice?"
"Negative, Commander. You've covered the main issue at present."
The Stormtrooper replied.

"Understood," Queseon nodded, agreeing to Telera. He looked
around and spotted a rock. Beyond it was the same vast expanse
of snow and dead trees. The woods were so thin that you could
see far off past them. In one of the patches of dead trees,
something seemed to move slowly beneath the rocky surface.
The Prince pointed to it, and the Imperial Guard turned to look.
It was small, no larger than Queseon himself, and it no longer
moved. Queseon motioned for the group to follow him as he
approached the strange creature. It was conical, with a blunt
end. Two small black bulges were on either side of it.
"What is that?.." asked Queseon, pointing his device at it.
Suddenly, at the sound of the Prince's voice, the two bulges
opened to reveal a pair of dark, hostile eyes. The creature
growled deep, wriggled to make space around it, and expanded.
The little part of it that Queseon had seen was just its head.
The rest of its body, having adapted to the low temperature, was
hidden underground.
The creature roared now, and its head armed with pincers struck
at the Prince so fast, he couldn't dodge. It got him right in
the center of his body, and he was thrown back, grunting.
The tank was the first to fire a successful shot, blowing the
creature's head off with an HE round while it acquire another
target. It's large body trembled, sagged, and fell with a loud
thud that echoed across the snowy plain. The Prince lay in the
snow, seemingly twitching, clutching the sonic rifle in his hand
tight as always.
The Imperial Guard rushed to him to make sure he was okay, and
Nerrocen stood back, arms across his chest. He had a smirk on
his face that couldn't be wiped off.
There now, just... Die. Die, you little shrimp.

The Stormtroopers took up guard positions around the Idahrians,
while Telera rushed to ensure that Queseon was alive and to keep
an eye on the General.
"Queseon!" Telera yelled as she dropped to the ground next to
Queseon's head, "Why didn't you move?! For future reference when
meeting a new species... keep your distance. Captain," she said
to the Stormtrooper, "I want anything that gets within 20 meters
to be annihilated!"
"Yes, Commander." The Stormtrooper replied.
