At First Light...
DIR By: Astelle

Noelani, Undersea Capital of Imperial Idahria, 60,356 ft.
beneath the surface...
The Astelle and Acotali leaders assess the situation in the
middle of the great city that they had protected and cherished
over the years. A small, round blue light was sitting in a
bowl-shaped platform. Around the base of the platform itself
were a group of workers from both species. They were conversing
lightly, assisting each other to complete this new project. This
was the big day. The leaders, the Emperor, his Assembly were all
watching. Today, the people of Idahria would be acknowledged.
Noticed. At long last. At First Light, the planet would be
known.
A young Acotali was viewing a set of options on what looked like
a screen on a slab of glass. With a few slides in two different
directions, the blue light turned even brighter. Then, he gently
touched the wide blue circle that had appeared in the middle of
his screen. There was a deep groan from beneath the domed city.
The watching crowds 'oohed and 'aahed as the ground shook
beneath them. These little quakes were so frequent that it was
perfectly normal. But this particular movement was not because
of natural causes. The platform began to rise, gaining the
attention of the people gathered around the square. They were
mesmerized as the light on top of the platform gradually became
brighter as it ascended through the dome, letting in a little
water.
The Astelle Emperor, Gaeran, watched with satisfaction as their
plans finally came into action. Though without a mouth, he felt
himself smile. On the inside. His brethren did the same.
Thousands of night creatures of the land and sea were driven to
their dens the very moment the platform rose out of the water,
sending fairly large waves across the surface. The platform was
covered in white foam as it continued, then stopped as it came
above the clouds. Below, the Astelle and the Acotali watched in
awe. Chirring lightly, Gaeran hovered to the front of the crowd,
regarding the workers with deep respect. He called the attention
of the crowd as his Assembly joined him. "Brothers... Brothers
and sisters of Idahria!" he called, extending his
three-fingered, jelly-like hands forward. "Today is the rise of
the First Light!" he declared. "A light that will symbolize our
independence and cooperation with each other. A light that will
tell the world outside our own that we are here! As a sentient,
united people! As the dominant race of Idahria!"
At that, the crowd cheered, moving about rapidly, celebrating.
They began to illuminate themselves, creating loud high pitched
sounds to congratulate and greet each other, excited to see who
would come for them, to meet them.

The Idahrian 'First Light' beacon as it rises in the
middle of a cluster of small islands. In this photo, the beacon
is only still above the surface, climbing to its greatest
height, which is far above the clouds, visible from space. (I
know its supposed to be dark in Idahria, but I couldn't find
another image. :()
From below again, the workers, in the midst of the celebrations
began to broadcast a signal into space with the beacon. To see
if any sentient species would notice. Anyone in the range of the
beacon signal would get a slight disruption in their
communications, but it would let them continue shortly
afterwards. Gaeran and his Assembly are hoping that this would
draw outsiders to visit them, as they themselves had not yet
established outer-space transports.

The Imperial Star Destroyer Avenger and her task force of 6
vessels jump out of hyperspace above a world that until recently
had been beneath their notice.
"Captain B'arin Sir, we have arrived at the coordinates."
"Thank you Ensign. Move the task force into an East-West orbit,
deploy 4 Tie Fighter squadrons and open a hailing frequency to
the source of the transmission." Captain B'arin ordered.
"Sir, the channel is open."
"This is Captain B'arin of the Imperial Star Destroyer Avenger.
I am here on behalf of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Ram Askaari
the Fourth, Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces,
Emperor of New Coruscant and its territories. We received your
transmission and have come to introduce ourselves. Please do not
misinterpret our task force as an aggressive act, this is only
our standard procedure."

Only afters after the first broadcasts by the massive beacon,
there were already visitors. More than just excited, Emperor
Gaeran of the Astelle hurried to the square in which the
beacon's control consoles were located. He hustled the workers
away from the screen showing what exactly was visiting them. It
was strange. From the sentry system on one of the larger islands
on the surface, it was quite large. Nothing any of the Astelle
or Acotali had ever seen before.
"Amazing." mumbled the Emperor, eyeing the ship carefully.
Seemingly out of it, he reached for the slab of glass that would
allow him to reply to the Captain. "Captain B'arin of New
Coruscant," he began, getting glances from the workers and
Assembly members gathered around him. "I... Am Emperor Gaeran of
the Idahrian Astelle. We of this planet would be very glad to...
Accomodate you and your crew." he told the Captain, unsure of
what else to say. Idahria had no spacecraft of its own.
"We are of no threat." he continued, leaning closer to the
screen, wondering if they were hearing him on the other end. The
Emperor could see them, but they couldn't see him. That part of
technology was still as yet beyond his people. "My drones will
mark a safe island for you to land on. I am looking forward to
meeting you, Captain."
After that, The Emperor gave his adviser a strange, worried
look. Neither the Astelle nor the Acotali have before met
another race. Especially from the outside.
On a small, L-shaped island, four young Astelle hurried along,
holding spears made of coral and glowsticks made from Wylchyr
meat. They spread out on the flattened ground in four corners to
form a square. They were hoping that though their planet was
dark, the visitors would see them. One of them enthusiastically
waved his glowstick, chuckling with delight as he did so. He
cupped his hand over where his mouth would have been and chirred
with satisfaction. "Here!" he called gleefully. "Over here!" his
friends were just as happy as he was, but were too mesmerized
and intimidated by the Imperial Destroyer's appearance.

*High above the surface of the planet the ISD Avenger began its
decent to low orbit, high enough to not interfere with the local
ecology but low enough to allow the natives to get a good look
at the Avenger. An Imperial shuttle and two TIE Fighter
squadrons descend towards the four faint lights, designating the
landing zone. The shuttle gently lands and its ramp descends as
the TIE Fighters circle overhead. Two eight man squads of
Stormtroopers descend from the ramp and line up on either side
of the shuttle ramp with their weapons held at salute. Captain
B'arin exits the shuttle followed closely by another Imperial
Officer.*
"With Honor, we come in peace on a mission of First Contact on
behalf of his Imperial Majesty Emperor Askaari the fourth. Your
Highness," B'arin gives a slight bow of respect to Emperor
Gaeran, "it is an honor and a pleasure to be your First Contact
with an alien species."

The young Astelle gape at the Avenger as it came down slowly and
landed. From between them, as if out of nowhere, the Emperor
came forth. The four young drones bowed low to pay their
respects, keeping their spears up. Gaeran waves them away, and
in turn they run off from the ship, looking up at the little
creatures that were swarming above. They joined the group that
was following the Emperor, who were guardians of the Emperor
himself. They had pulse rifles and lances to defend their leader
in case these people were less friendly than they appeared.
The island surprisingly was able to fit the destroyer well
enough. Its rear end was sticking out over the water where a
cluster of young Acotali were looking up at it in awe. What a
strange object it was. From other islands, groups of Destapt and
Wiaq watched, some fleeing for their dens due to all the bright
lights. Right alongside the island's longer end was a Naiad
Assault Craft built by Astelle workers. It looked like a ship
with its underside facing up. There were fifty heavy guns on
each side. It was the Nephele, the ship on which the Emperor
arrived.
The Emperor himself seemed to be paying more attention to the
ship than to the Captain, but upon hearing him speak, he snapped
back. His eyes were gleaming at the sight of the massive object.
He had to tip his head back a bit, being much, much smaller than
the captain was. In reply, he gave a small bow that looked more
like a curtsy.
"An honor indeed." the Emperor beamed, flashing his lights
slightly in delight. "Captain..." he said, keeping his eyes on
the Avenger. His voice was like that of a robot. "I and my
Assembly," he gestured to the Acotali and Astelle standing
behind him. They bowed low. "Would like to formally invite you
and your crew to our Capital city of Noelani. You wouldn't mind
leaving your craft for a little while would you?"

*Captain B'arin gestures to the Stormtroopers, one squad remains
with the shuttle and the other moves into escort position behind
Captain B'arin and his First Officer.*
"Lead the way, Your Highness."
OOC: It's OK but for future reference you can't land a Star
Destroyer on a plant's surface without permanently grounding it
there, and these things are a mile long lol

OOC: Oh, oh dear. Sorry. I didn't think about that... My planet
really just has a few pieces of land. Some big and some small.
I'll edit the last post a bit for it.
Emperor Gaeran nods, then turns around on one foot. His eyes
were glued to the Destroyer as he went. The Assembly allowed him
to pass in between them, then they followed. They weren't as
interested in the ship as their leader was. They watched B'arin
and his group move along, wondering what exactly they were. They
were as tall as the Wiaq, but they didn't look like the Wiaq at
all. Right now though, they had no time to ask.
After the delegation was on the Naiad, the four young drones
from earlier, still armed with their spears but without their
glowsticks led Captain B'arin, his First Officer, and the Storm
Troopers into the assault sub. The doors of the submarine were
right beneath one of the fifty main guns, which were all around
twenty feet long. The doors slid inward and were secured by a
set of clamps. The Naiad then immediately submerged and began to
move quite quickly and smoothly for its size. Within minutes,
the Nephele was at the harbor in Noelani. A number of Cubozoans
were at the platforms, wondering who their guests were.
The Nephele slowed down, only inches from the landing platforms.
It took a short while for its crew to make sure that they were
clear to let the passengers off. The doors opened again, and the
four drones were first off. The Imperial Guard came next,
followed by the Assembly and the Emperor who personally led
B'arin and his group along.
"Welcome to Noelani, my friends." he said, gesturing towards the
city with a flourish. He intended on taking B'arin to the
Imperial Tower where he could learn more of New Coruscant, its
people, and of course, its ships which seemed to fascinate him.

OOC: don't worry about it, you're writing some awesome stuff
here. I actually get excited when I see there's a new post on
here! You should write science fiction books. I've read every
Ender's game book by Orson Scott Card, all of the Star Wars
books written by Timothy Zahn and you remind me a lot of their
writing styles.
IC:
*B'arin gazes at the glowing city, it's shimmering lights
reminding him of Thedes on Naboo at night. That city he grew up
in, now millions of light years away.*
"Your Highness, your city is beautiful. It reminds me of my
home, only not underwater. My home world is called Naboo where
we had another sentient species living there called Gungans, my
First Officer is from a planet called Corulag."

OOC: Ah! :D Although I consider my writing far from anything for
books... >.<
I've never had anyone say that about my work. ^.^ Thanks a lot!
The Imperial Tower was in the middle of Noelani. It reached far
up to touch the center of the main dome. Lining its height were
lamps made from Wylchyr meat. They were so bright that they
could have replaced the dead star, Aedes.
On the way to the tower, Emperor Gaeran heard B'arin's comment
regarding his city. He nodded to acknowledge. "Thank you,
Captain." he said, feeling proud, but being the Emperor, he
remained modest. "I am glad to know that our home here reminds
you of yours..." then, after a short pause, "Naboo... Is this a
planet from your home of New Coruscant?" he asked.
As the group moved along, many Astelle and Acotali followed
closely, observing B'arin and the storm troopers. Some ephyra
would hover along closer to the storm troopers, wondering what
they were made of. A few would daringly reach out to touch, but
were chided by their parents and called back. Along the well
lighted streets, trams stopped as the small group walked along.
Here, there was no danger of the Emperor being harmed by his own
people, since everyone here appeared to be very much fine with
his rule.
Not too far from where Gaeran and B'arin were stood the platform
on which the First Light beacon stood. The workers were at their
respective posts, but they couldn't help but watch the
procession.
Currently, on the Emperor's order, the beacon was supposed to be
off, but its light kept on.
Gaeran wondered what exactly it would be like for his own planet
to be in possession of those ships... So far, he had only
vehicles for the open sea and the land to make it safer for his
people, especially with the abundance of predators everywhere.
He would make sure to ask for information concerning this
later...

*Trying to think of a way to explain this to a people that had
never left their surface and knew little to nothing about what
was really out in the darkness of space.*
"Your Highness, your planet as you now know is only one of many
inhabited planets out there. Your planet orbits a star and the
two together is called a Solar System. Sometimes there are more
than one planet in a solar system and sometimes more than in
inhabited, often times by different species. Now inside what we
call a Galaxy there are thousands of solar systems and inhabited
worlds all with their own cultures and species. There are an
infinite number of galaxies in what we call the universe. My
people came from a completely different galaxy than yours, but
New Coruscant is our home here in your galaxy. Naboo was the
planet I was born and raised on in our Origin Galaxy. Space is a
big place, Your Highness, and we're here to guide you as you
take your first steps into it. The Empire wants to build a space
station above your planet, it's like a small city but out in the
stars above your planet. We would like to build an embassy here
where you could keep in contact with us and maintain diplomatic
relations. The space station would be there to ensure your
people remain safe from the wide range of species that may
threaten your planet. We will, of course, leave if you wish us
to. We're not here for conquest or personal gain, we only want
you to benefit from our experience and our technology, the only
thing we would ask for in return is to be able to build a
cloning facility here."
