Agreed, I'm a fan of several sci-fi series and am constantly
conflicted with friends who like maybe only one franchise. I do
believe that if Star Trek and Star Wars were to ever engage in a
military conflict in some weird universe, Star Wars would only
win because of the sheer number of warships available. Now If I
pit a Galaxy Class Exploration Cruiser against a lone Star
Destroyer, the Galaxy Class would win due to its superior
maneuverability and transporter technology. The shields on Star
Wars are only designed to stop weapons and were not designed to
prevent a (to them) non existent technology from transporting
personnel or bombs on board. So I think in this case the
technologies are comparable. But I would say that Star Trek is
more advanced technologically in some areas but inferior in
others. So for the sake of argument we should ensure that nobody
goes overboard and we don't get a flame war on our hands.

I've just completed the final adjustments and what not for that
system I cam up with. Suggestions on improvements and changes
are requested if you have them. I want to help make sure we can
all enjoy our time on here. Here it is:
A Proposal For Determining Military Capabilities
The Military Manpower Calculator
Note: MMA (Military Manpower Available) will be recalculated
every two weeks.
Gov. Type Points:
•
•
•
•
•
Government Types:
Liberal
•
•
•
•
•
Conservative
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Moderate
•
•
Authoritative
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Passive
•

•
Economic Points:
Frightening -10
All-Consuming -20
Powerhouse -30
Thriving -40
Very Strong -50
Strong -60
Good -70
Fair -80
Reasonable -90
Developing -100
Struggling -110
Weak -120
Fragile -130
Basket Case -140
Imploded -150
Military Manpower Equation:
x = Population
z = Gov. Type Pts.
a = Economic Points
y = Available Manpower
x*z+(x/a)=y
Example:
7,000,000*.20+(7,000,000/70)=1,500,00
The Empire of FO-20 originates in the “Star Wars”
universe, so their starships will hold the number of men
specified in “Star Wars” cannon.
FO-20 Stats:
Government Type: Moderate
Economy: Good
Population: 7 Million
Military Manpower Available (MMA): 1,500,000
Navy
Star Destroyers: 8 (294,000 Officers and Crew) [37,000 each]
Victory I Class Star Destroyers: 16 (83,200 Officers and Crew)
[5,200 each]
Tartan Patrol Craft: 32 (2,240 Officers and Crew) [70 each]
Total: 379,440
Army
1,120,560 Officers and Enlisted

I like the system, but the Government types fluctuate a lot on
NS. I have seen them fluctuate a few times a week. What about
just allowing the player to select if they wish their species
government to be Liberal, Conservative, Moderate, Authoritative
or Passive and just leave it there. It would make it so we
wouldn't have to keep altering our stats more than we have to as
our population grows.
What about as we grow, the construction times and resources for
ships and equipment?

Well as I said, these numbers would be updated every two weeks.
They don't even need to constantly be maintained unless an all
out war breaks out in the region. This is a game where an entire
embassy is produced in two days and world legislation is carried
out in the WA virtually over night. I think that the two weeks
"refresh" would be sufficient for our purposes. I think two
weeks is reasonable, maybe even one depending on what everyone
thinks.

Not a bad idea. I like it. Well, I am pro both ways. I guess we
just need to get a vote going to see which way the majority
prefer.

Indeed. I was just thinking too of getting a section on here
about which nations align with which factions or if they stay
neutral. It would be nice to have as reference.

I was going to do that on my races main factbook.
The box on the right in it you will see my ambassadors and to
which faction they are sent to.
I was going to put an alliance and enemies area in it as well.

This is going to sound terrible, I know, but can we combine the
two systems? Cizerack's was a good way of determining how many
ships and such you can produce. Fo-20's is a good way of
determining how much manpower you actually have. For instance a
small wealthy nation might be able to crank ships out left and
right, but if it doesn't have the manpower to staff them what's
the point. Whereas a large populous but poor nation might have
plenty of manpower but not the funds to make ships and tanks and
whatever.
