Military Purchase System

Hey there. So before we begin the RP, I figured we could use
ships and how to figure out how many each world has. As we all
know, world in the UFP still produces their own ships for their
use (Vulcans and Bajorins are prime examples.) as the UFP
produces their Fed wide used white saucer ships. Klingon Empire,
the different races do as well. But if a UFP/Empire wide
emergency occurs, the UFP/Empire ships are sent to aid systems
plus the systems race can use theirs if they have them.
So, here's what I propose...
All regional species have their own ships that they can spend
points on to purchase...
For every 1 million population, the species will have 2,500
points.
And for every 10 million population, they can produce 5,000
points of ships per real life week (Choose a day and at midnight
of that day, the ships become available. Makes it uniform and
easy to track.)

Here's an example of what mine would be at 9:30 a.m. tuesday
morning 10/14/2014...
Dreadnought Carrier 5,000
3 Dreadnoughts 7,500
2 Carriers 4,000
2 Battleships 3,000
2 Destroyers 1,500
Cruiser 1,000
7,000 Fighters 7,000
Colony Ship 250
2 Science Vessels 200
Explorer Vessel 100
4 Transports 400
2 Blockade Runners 10
2 Couriers 10
6 Scouts 30
For a total of 30,000 points to start out with.

We forgot to put in a price for stations. While they can't move,
or at least not very far very fast, a couple of heavily armed
stations can do wonders for a planet's defense.

I agree and noticed that yesterday. A single station is in
effect so varied. I would say that a station is more powerful
than any ship if we are talking about a defensible station. But
since they are in effect immobile for the most part, they should
be discounted. What if we make a planetary defensible station OR
deep space station (Like DS9 in either case) 5,000 points. Yes,
it can take on a fleet by itself but it isn't going anywhere
really. And each species should have a base point purchase
system as well. I would honestly say do it the way the ships are
being done. This will allow species to be able to expand as
well.
Planetary Defense Station/Deep Space Station 5,000
Trading Station (1/2 Power of the DSS) 3,500
Communications Station 1,500
Surveillance Station (Watches up to 10 worlds) 2,000
Science Lab Space Station 1,500
Border Patrol Station
2,500
Observatory
1,000
Military Operations Command Base 5,000
Spaceyard
1,000 per ship (any size) capacity
Spacedocks
1,500 per ship (any size) capacity
Drydocks
1,000 per ship (any size) capacity
Planetside Colony
1,000 per 5,000 pop to start
Orbital Colony
1,000 per 1,000 pop to start

Also...NationState stats can be useful in helping determine the
number of points. Here's an alternate to a set, flat number of
points. You would get these points for ships. Then a separate
number of equal points for space stations. What do you think?
Defense Forces: Score x100 per week in ship points
Arms Manufacturing: Score x1000 per week in ship points
Scientific Advancement: Score x100 per week in ship points
Manufacturing: Score x1000 in ship points per week

*Can one of you summarize the final decision on this and
elaborate so I can figure out what I have for resources and
military please?*

A final decision has not been determined as of yet. It is posted
so we may decide as to whether or not to use this style of a
point system to determine our fleets. If it's decided that it
will be used, I will be glad to make a flushed out system that
would be the official standard.
What do you personally think of using this point system to
determine ones fleets?

I think that there should be some type of limit in regards to
how large one's navy can be. The size of the fleet should be a
direct reflection of what faction they choose to align
themselves within the region. For example, Klingons will have
far more resources and people to build more warships than a lone
neutral planet. We should determine a ratio of
military/civillian population according to their Nationstates
government type according to their policies. If they have a
liberal government with nothing but a police force then maybe
there would be 1 soldier for every 12000 people, their military
would essentially be like the United Kingdom or Germany (modern
day.) But a Father Knows Best type of government there would be
a larger military force. The United States is at present, a
liberal democracy where our military is less than 1% of the
population. We should most definitely take the following factors
into account when making this system:
1- Population (According to Nationstates)
2- Government Type (ex. New York Times Democracy)
3- Faction Alignment
Now say if I joined the Federation Faction, would I have a vast
star fleet suddenly at my every beck and call? No, but being
aligned with the Federation I would be able to contact my
faction and ask for reinforcements or help. This would of course
rely upon the Federation Council voting to send forces and/or
supplies in the event I am attacked.
These are some things to take into consideration if you are to
build a truly fair and realistic system.

I hadn't thought about the government styles. I am inclined to
agree.
For example, Cizerack is a Monarchy but more leaning towards the
militant like the Klingons. But not as hostile lol.
One problem with the NS Governments is that they're always
fluctuating.

Good point, I'm at present creating a simple system based off of
their political ideologies. Essentially it will lump everyone
into a few groups. I will elaborate once it is finished, it
should not take me long.
