I know that people are going to assume that this post is just
the average teen crushing on her teacher problem, but it's more
than that and I am seeking some real advice because it is
distracting me too much. So here goes...
I'm 17 years old and I started college back in September, my
teacher is 35. At first I had an enormous typical girl crush on
my teacher and it all started when he realised I shared the same
music taste as him. Over the next few lessons, he'd give me his
attention, highlight me in class, make jokes etc.. He kept me
behind after class, to ask me why I looked miserable, or why I
wasn't smiling, or that he didn't want me to be stressed or
tired, and that he genuinely wanted me to look better in class,
smile once in a while and be happy. The thing is he would never
do the same for anyone else he teaches, he told them to just get
on with things, even when some students were having actual
problems far more important than my miserable facial expressions
in class. The next couple of times he kept me behind we'd talk
about his routine when he gets home, he'd share his interests
with me and point out things that we enjoyed that were similar,
he even showed me another students exam paper to make me feel
better about myself. Once when I was waiting for him he said
things like "You can stay outside and we can keep staring at
each other, or you can come in?". He has also referred to me in
his other classes, and he use to get so happy when my friends
mentioned me to him. In those days my friends made it obvious i
kind of liked him so I think he knew. Anyway, in class he'd look
at me when I wasn't looking at him, and we'd have genuine stares
that lasted more than 5 seconds. Whenever he'd see me in the
corridor he'd have eyes for me and always look at me first
before he saw any of my friends, once when walking towards my
direction he mouthed, "you ok"? Whilst my friends weren't aware,
it may be seen as a normal thing but it just felt so out of the
blue. As for his body language, I'd noticed in class a few times
that his gaze was geared towards me and the way he positioned
his body. His face lit up and he seemed distracted after I
walked into his classroom.
In recent time when he has kept me behind, he has mentioned that
he hates seeing me tired in class, and that he wants me to stay
young? My friends have noticed themselves that they find these
remarks odd and that he acts completely different to
them(careless, cold, cruel).
Anyways what's been bugging me lately is the fact that lately he
just acts so weird, when he teaches he rarely looks at me but
the entire class, he rarely asks me to answer questions, but
whenever the class is doing work I notice his eyes on me, and
then when I look up he just looks away. There have been times
when he's tried to completely ignore me and converse with the
entire class but me. And then occasionally I'll look up and then
we'll hold our stare for at least 3 seconds, or when he does
teach I'll see him glance at me, whenever he makes a joke he'll
quickly glance at me to see my reaction. He has put me at the
front and always hovers around me. After he has looked at me and
tried to smile, he seems tense and a bit frustrated but whenever
I see him outside of class and he sees me, he notices me and is
a bit more upfront than in class.
I've told myself a million times that it must be all in my head
and that I'm reading into things too much, but it's just the gut
feeling I get when he does stare at me or smile at me, it's very
different to everyone else.
I just don't know what to do, because it feels like he's giving
me mixed signals, and it distracts me in the lesson so much
because I just feel angry and upset. I just want some
indication, that yes there is some underlying attraction and
that he may be acting in this way due to etc.... It would just
clear my mind and make me focus on other things.
Please give me some feedback?
