       How did you learn Turkish?

Hello everyone ! Ok, so it has been a while since I have wanted
to learn Turkish. Like really (literally 4 years).

Nanous, diziler are a big help actually. They help you with
pronunciation and vocabulary but for grammar, you have to have a
reference.It\'s been 4 years that I\'m trying to learn. Mainly
through diziler. I started with basic grammar lessons (I have a
book + here at the forum) and now mainly I pick up new words
from shows. There are still a lot of things that I need to learn
but I understand enough of the show I\'m watching if I don\'t
have subtitles. I would like to learn more vocabulary but it is
the most difficult to retain as I tend to forget the meaning of
the words soon after I learn them but when a word gets repeated
several times in a dizi, it sticks in my mind.

with Hindi but only with movies. But the think is, the more I
learn Turkish the more I regress in Hindi which is highly
frustrating. It\'s quite tough to learn two languages at the
same time. I\'ll start working on the Assimil method combined
       with diziler.

Nanouss, you probably already know this, but for those who
don\'t: Hindi means Turkey (the animal) in Turkish Best of luck
to you who are trying to learn Turkish!

Well the best way to learn a language is to move to the country
that you want to learn it\'s language. The next best way to
learn a language is the country that you want to learn it\'s
language, to invade to your country and so at some point you
will learn the language..and the third way to learn a language
is the one that most use, to have lessons and pay to learn a
language and then give tests and graduate through diplomas and
diplomas and become a teacher if you like also ...but the third
       way has no fun. lol.

is highly frustrating. It\'s quite tough to learn two languages
at the same time. I\'ll start working on the Assimil method
combined with diziler. [/quote]I also learned through diziler. I
lived in Turkey for a while but that was pretty useless for me
as far as language learning goes. I worked ads an
English/Spanish teacher so it was forbidden for me to speak
Turkish at work. I worked really long hours. All day I spoke
English. At home, my pa?a and I spoke English. Most of my
friends were foreigners and English was our common language and
all my students and Turkish friends either wanted to learn or
practice so to keep a long story long, I barely had time to
learn. I originally hated the language and refused t learn it
for the first 2 years I was there. Istanbulian Turk to be quite
unappealing with all the \"ya\"s and missing \"r\"s  Gidiyo!
What is that?  Then my husband befriended a polis amir and he
made Istabulian Turkish sound like poetry and so I fell in love
with it and decided to learn it. I bought myself a dictionary
and a book of phrasal verbs. I\'d watch an episode and wrote
down all the words I could make out, looked them up
and memorized them. Then I\'d watch again and would understand a
bit more and so that\'s what I did through FG and KG. It\'s been
very helpful. It was time consuming but paid off. So funny you
mentioned that. My friends and I used to refer to Turkish as a
       parasitical language <img
       src=\"<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/default_biggrin.png\"
alt=\":D\" title=\":D date=1452158504] It will eat up any other
language stored in your brain. So many of my friends lost
languages when they started learning Turkish. They\'d have to
give it up. I still let out a Turkish word here and there when
speaking Italian. It\'s like a bad side effect. It happens to
       everyone.

Turkey and she started learning some Turkish. She was doing
really well but then she married and obviously moved in with her

learned like that (by interacting with people )and he speaks

THANKS A LOT GUYS !  it seems to have worked really well in his
case, so if you have turkish friends force them to speak turkish
       with you <img alt=\":D\" title=\":D\"

Turkish. She keeps teaching me news words and translating what
her parents say when they turn on the Turkish mode haha.
