When you are thinking about reincarnating, that should be your
first stop. It will tell you all about what you keep and what
you lose. I'll post another article into the pros and cons of
reincarnating at another time if there is interest in it but for
the moment, I'm giving a few of my own tips. My main character
is on the 7th reincarnation and there are a few things I wish I
would have known at first that I know now. Feel free to add
your own tricks and tips in the comments!
Building a monster barter defender -
You need one guy who can defend barter, and do it extremely
well. Buying and making this one guy a permanent peerless, and
training him in nothing but barter will pay huge dividends
later. In player-to-player barter, the heavier the barter is
attacked or defended, the more silver that drops, win or lose.
When you reincarnate, you will be starved for silver and as soon
as you can you want other people to barter you. Put this
monster merchant out on patrol and people will be happy to
barter you because you will be the best paying noob in town.
Not only will you be happy with your silver, but having an
awesome defender means you might even win some of these barters,
giving you some extra seals that can boost your whole army.
Step 1 - Get and train a peerless trader
There are two ways to do this. One is to buy one with silver
and the other is to buy one with gold. If you are brand new and
don't want to spend the gold, go ahead and save up and use your
silver, spending 5 gold to make him/her permanent and opening a
seal slot. the advantage of the 35 gold option is that they
come with 5 seal slots already open and is already permanent.
After you get this merchant, send him out and get him some
training points. Adventures are a good way to get training and
loot, but AvA will train him faster especially when you are just
starting out. Garrison him in a trade camp and send him on easy
missions. The camp bonus will make even the newest sword a
success and he will advance and become more powerful very
quickly.
Step 2 - Build some awesome gear and units.
Hand units - Most hand units are attack% only, so the raw +
number is going to be most important. You can buy a port
manifest in the shop which give +20 and 10% barter to attacks.
I accidentally bought a tax book that is +20 and 10% to bribe,
but since the % is all attack, the +20 is still the best of the
hand gear. This is going to be a defender, remember? If you
want to save the gold and craft something, the Tully fealty
offer the ledger and master ledger books. The Master ledgerbook
being the best hand barter item in the game at +20 and 10%
barter attack. But if you are not a Tully, you can still craft
a dark diamond ring in the treasury that will get close at +18.
Targaryens can craft Deposit, which is +20 and 10% to swindle,
but its the +20 that is most important. Open another seal slot
to make any of these permanent and you can add barter or trade
seals that will add some defense to these items.
Body Gear - Body gear is almost exclusively for defense and the
best body gear for your merchant defender will be the Alloyed
Torq from the Lannister fealty building (+20, 10% barter
defense). If you don't have the Lannister fealty, it will be a
bit more difficult to craft something comparable. One of the
winnings from a boss quest is a moonstone torque that is +10 and
6% barter defense that is better than nothing. You can also run
the level 20 book 1 adventure to get a pewter chain that has the
same stats as the moonstone torque. Or you can try your luck on
the level 80 book 1 adventure "win the Cyvasse Tourney" to get a
grand pewter chain that has the same stats as the alloyed torque
(+20 10% barter defense). But these are RARE drops and you
might have to run this adventure hundreds of times before you
get one. But no matter which way you get it, if you get a +20
with 10% defense, spend the 5 gold to open another seal slot to
make it permanent.
Units - units almost always offer a boost to both defense and
attack. The best unit for your merchant is the master mercer,
which is crafted in the artisan building. These guys take a
LONG time to craft, as you need 3 mercers, which each need 6
merchants (and each of those need a trader, a chain and a book).
Go ahead and make your first mercer and put him on your trader
while you spend the next days and weeks crafting the other two
mercers that you need. A master mercer adds +20 and 10% to
barter attacks and defenses. You'll want to open a seal slot
and make this one permanent, too.
So if you have your peerless power merchant properly equipped,
you'll have stats that look like this:
Peerless - +30 to trade and each training point adds 1% to
attack and defense
Hand item - +20 to trade
Body item - +20, 10% defense
unit - +20, 10%
At the his most basic, your merchant will be +110 and 21% on the
barter defense. Adding one barter seal to each open slot adds
+4 and 4% to attack and defense for a total of +114 and 25%
meaning he'll hit for about 143 on his own. But you have your
character stats that will be added to that, so even if you are
not a trade oriented fealty, you can count on him defending as
good as your other best swords.
The payoff comes in 2 forms:
- more silver for you and whoever is bartering you
- Seals for any wins that you get.
While you are training and building, go ahead and set up a less
powerful trader with your best stuff on barter patrol. you
should be able to have your master merchant ready within one
incarnation, ready to help you get richer through the rest. In
a situation where double XP is offered, you might go ahead and
send him on adventures to level him up further while giving you
a chance at some good loot.
