As I keep saying, THE HUMAN SMUGGLERS ARE THE GOOD GUYS! The
attempt to cast them as the villains (including mislabelling
them as "human traffickers") and the refugees as their victims
is ludicrous. Even if they are making money from it, they are
still helping refugees avoid injury, and it is in their interest
to do as good a job as they can to to gain reputation which is
good for future business.
But again, if Abbott sincerely believed that the human smugglers
should not be profiting from this work, the best response would
be to open the border and thus drive the smugglers out of
business at once!
Bottom line: it wasn't the smugglers who put the razor wire
there, it was Abbott! Who the villain is should not require
explanation!
