the Afghans. We’re bringing Afghans by the thousands into the
country, and they deserve to be brought in because they assisted
us in the war. That’s how they should be treating the Haitians,
bringing in those who are eligible, vaccinating and making sure
that we’re not simply trying to drive them back with our border
patrol on horses, with their reins, looking at if they’re
beating them.”
>
> Witt then asked: “You mentioned the Afghan refugees, those
coming into our country. Why the different approach to them
versus the Haitians?”
>
> Waters responded: “Let me just say this, that Haitians have
been the victims of, you know, not only our country but Canada
and France, for years, historically. They’re black. They’re
poor. It’s the poorest country in the hemisphere. They have been
exploited.”
>
> She continued: “It does not appear that they are seen in the
same way that they see others. Haitians have been the victims
because they were the first country to fight off, you know, the
repression of France. Of course, France has made them pay a big
price for it. Yes, I think they’re treated differently because
they’re Black, because they’re Haitians, and because
traditionally they have not been treated as human beings.”

This is an important point. America should feel closer to Haiti,
both having played a part in defeating Western colonial powers
in the New World, than to Canada which to this day still retains
a Windsor as head of state.

U.S. Border Patrol on Sunday amid backlash to the agency's
handling of Haitian migrants.
>
> Wilson appeared on the local news program, This Week in South
Florida, to discuss the ongoing issue, reiterating her strong
and vocal criticism from the past week. The congresswoman
represents Florida's 24th District, which encompasses parts of
the Miami metropolitan area and, according to Local 10, is home
to the largest population of Haitian immigrants in the U.S.

like immigrants, and what really made them angry is that these
were Black immigrants," Wilson said.

for keeping migrant children in cages and alleged that she
required a security detail due to the violent threats that these
comments brought upon her.

years, I was under strict security because of the Border Patrol
and because of the way they were treating the children who were
in the cages. I said they should be arrested, and I began to get
calls to my home that they were going to kill me."

>
> They are two of thousands of migrants who crossed into Texas
from Mexico this year without proper documentation and were
rounded up as part of Operation Lone Star, Gov. Greg Abbott’s
initiative to use state troopers and National Guard soldiers to
help bolster federal immigration enforcement.
> ...
> Abbott launched Operation Lone Star in March, deploying
hundreds of state troopers from the Texas Department of Public
Safety, agents, rangers and National Guard soldiers to back up
the Border Patrol, arrest migrants slipping through and combat
smugglers.
> ...
> “There’s no gray area – it's very clear,” Hoffman said. “What
the governor’s doing here goes beyond what’s allowed under the
law.”
--- End Quote ---
So why is law enforcement not arresting Abbott? And, given that
so-called"law enforcement" is complicit in Abbott's crimes, why
are Americans not applying the Second Amendment on both Abbott
and so-called "law enforcement"?
--- Quote ---
> Abbott’s policy not only leads to racial profiling and
infringes on civil liberties but will dissuade Latino residents
from reporting crimes, making communities less safe, especially
in Texas, which is 40% Hispanic, he said.
>
> “Whenever you ask untrained law enforcement officers to engage
in immigration enforcement efforts, they are going to revert to
racial profiling,” Saenz said. “That’s exactly what an
initiative like this invites.”

Exactly. So how long are Americans going to let it continue
unopposed with firepower?
--- Quote ---
> "Operation Lone Star relies on racial profiling and
systemically violates due process," Kevin Herrera, the migrants'
attorney, said in a statement. "We demand ... that [Department
of Homeland Security] cease any collaboration with this
unconstitutional program."

And when your demand is ignored, what will you do next? How long
will it take you to realize that this will not be solved without
firepower?

Borders are not only created through violence but also
maintained through violence. Violence isn’t happening at the
border, the border is violence.
--- End Quote ---
Strictly speaking, the closed border is violence. An open border
would still be a border (ie. a line marking where people stop
paying taxes to one state and start paying taxes to another
state) but would not be violent. But overall I agree strongly
with the sentiment of the above quote.

outpaced our empirical understanding of undocumented
criminality. That is, while research suggests that immigrants
generally tend to be less crime prone than their native peers
(6), we still lack basic information on fundamental questions
specific to undocumented immigrants and crime. How does the
criminality of undocumented immigrants compare to legal
immigrants or native-born citizens? Does this differ by the type
offense, such as property, violent, or drug crimes? And how has
undocumented immigrant criminality changed over time?
