Some information about left-leaning trends in mainstream
       Christianity.
In particular, I've heard many Methodists and Seventh-day
Adventists to this day are vegetarian/vegan.
       --- Quote ---
       > Various Church leaders have recommended vegetarianism,
including John Wesley (founder of the Methodist Church), William
and Catherine Booth (founders of The Salvation Army), William
Cowherd from the Bible Christian Church and Ellen G. White from
the Seventh-day Adventists.[7][8][9][10] Cowherd, who founded
the Bible Christian Church in 1809, helped to establish the
world's first Vegetarian Society in 1847.[11]

       --- Quote ---
       > An estimated 35% of Adventists practice vegetarianism or
veganism, according to a 2002 worldwide survey of local church
       leaders.[56][57]

Why aren't all Christians vegans? Oh yeah, the usual suspect:
       --- Quote ---
       > Vegetarianism appears to have been a point of contention
within some early Christian circles, notably in Rome. Within the
Bible's New Testament, the Apostle Paul states that people of
"weak faith" "eat only vegetables",[Romans 14:1–4]
       --- End Quote ---

       --- Quote ---
       > In the 4th Century some Jewish Christian groups maintained
that Jesus was himself a vegetarian. Epiphanius quotes the
Gospel of the Ebionites where Jesus has a confrontation with the
high priest. Jesus chastises the leadership saying, "I am come
to end the sacrifices and feasts of blood; and if ye cease not
offering and eating of flesh and blood, the wrath of God shall
not cease from you; even as it came to your fathers in the
wilderness, who lusted for flesh, and did sate to their content,
and were filled with rottenness, and the plague consumed
       them."[53]
       >
       > According to Lightfoot, "the Christianized Essennes […]
condemned the slaughter of victims on grounds very different
from those alleged in the Epistle of Hebrews, not because they
have been superseded by the Atonement, but because they are in
their very nature repulsive to God; not because they have ceased
to be right, but because they never were right from the
       beginning".[32]
       >
       > Other early Christian historical documents observe that many
influential Christians during the formative centuries of
Christianity were vegetarian, though certainly not all. The
Clementine homilies, a second-century work purportedly based on
the teachings of the Apostle Peter, states, "The unnatural
eating of flesh meats is as polluting as the heathen worship of
devils, with its sacrifices and its impure feasts, through
participation in it a man becomes a fellow eater with
devils."[54][citation needed] While the Didascalia does not
itself endorse vegetarianism, it records a group of individuals
who believe they "should not eat flesh, and said that a man must
not eat anything that has a soul in it."[55]
       >
       > Although early Christian vegetarianism appears to have been
downplayed in favor of more "modern" Christian culture, the
practice of vegetarianism appears to have been very widespread
in early Christianity, both in the leadership and among the
laity.[3] Origen's work Contra Celsum quotes Celsus commenting
vegetarian practices among Christians he had contact with.[56]

       > According to Harper's New Monthly Magazine, toward the end of
his career he was present when an itinerant missionary was
exhorting an open-air congregation in Mansfield, Ohio. The
sermon was long and severe on the topic of extravagance, because
the pioneers were buying such indulgences as calico and imported
tea. "Where now is there a man who, like the primitive
Christians, is traveling to heaven barefooted and clad in coarse
raiment?" the preacher repeatedly asked until Johnny Appleseed,
his endurance worn out, walked up to the preacher, put his bare
foot on the stump that had served as a podium, and said, "Here's
your primitive Christian!" The flummoxed sermonizer dismissed
       the congregation.[11]
       > [...]
       > He preached the gospel as he traveled, and during his travels
he converted many Native Americans, whom he admired. The Native
Americans regarded him as someone who had been touched by the
Great Spirit, and even hostile tribes left him strictly
       alone.[13]
       >
       > He cared very deeply about animals, including insects. Henry
Howe visited all the counties in Ohio in the early nineteenth
century and collected several stories from the 1830s, when
       Johnny Appleseed was still alive:[14]
       >
       > One cool autumnal night, while lying by his camp-fire in the
woods, he observed that the mosquitoes flew in the blaze and
were burned. Johnny, who wore on his head a tin utensil which
answered both as a cap and a mush pot, filled it with water and
quenched the fire, and afterwards remarked, "God forbid that I
should build a fire for my comfort, that should be the means of
destroying any of His creatures." Another time, he allegedly
made a camp-fire in a snowstorm at the end of a hollow log in
which he intended to pass the night but found it occupied by a
bear and cubs, so he removed his fire to the other end and slept
on the snow in the open air, rather than disturb the bear.

Johnny Appleseed was a Swedenborgian, and so was socialist Helen
Keller. Religion was an important part of her writing. This is
notable since she was most politically active during the first
decades of the 1900s, therefore opposing the False Left
socialists who supported the anti-religious policies of the
       Bolsheviks.

Swedenborg believed that the "African race" was "in greater
enlightenment than others on this earth, since they are such
that they think more 'interiorly', and so receive truths and
acknowledge them."[8] African enlightenment was considered a
liberal concept at the time, and Swedenborgians accepted freed
African converts in their homes as early as 1790. Several
       Swedenborgians were also abolitionists.[9]

penned an open letter to the government urging them not to turn
back illegal migrant boats coming from safe, EU member-state
France, published by the leftist Guardian.
       >
       > The 12 senior clergymen, who described themselves as “bishops
within the Church of England with a particular oversight of
asylum and refugee issues” — a focus that comes amid the
institution currently experiencing a collapse in church
attendance and belief — said they were “deeply concerned about
the government’s approach to migrant crossings of the Channel.”
       >
       > The Bishop of Bristol, Bishop of Chelmsford, Bishop of
Croydon, Bishop of Bradwell, Bishop of Dover, Bishop of Durham,
Bishop of Gloucester, Bishop of London, Bishop of Manchester,
Bishop of Southwark, Bishop of Wakefield, and the Right Reverend
David Hamid, Suffragan Bishop in Europe, claimed that the “new
‘turn back’ policy, which will see boats forcibly returned to
France… raises significant moral concerns,” arguing it “starkly
increases the risks at sea and endangers the lives of those
       attempting the crossing.”
       > ...
       > The woke bishops also alleged in their letter that the
Nationality and Borders Bill the government is putting before
Parliament “would criminalise not only attempts to cross the
border irregularly” — i.e. illegally — “nor even simply
people-smuggling, but even those who take part in the rescue of
       boats in distress at sea.”
       >
       > They claimed that “This would require those who see asylum
seekers at risk to choose between ignoring a moral imperative
(also established in maritime law) to assist them, or to risk
prosecution and imprisonment,” arguing that this was the
equivalent to “criminalisation of the Good Samaritan who did not
pass by on the other side, and an affront to justice to put the
saving of lives under any sort of legal penalty.”

killing Christianity. This reveals the fundamental
incompatibility of the two. On this I am in academic agreement

How can one be considered a "Christian" if they are following
