The Dutch king, Willem-Alexander, has announced that he
is mothballing – at least for now – the royal golden coach which
has been embroiled in a racism controversy.
The opulent horse-drawn carriage, called De Gouden Koets, has
traditionally transported the Dutch monarch to the opening of
parliament and other state occasions, but has not been used
since 2015.
At the centre of the slavery controversy is a picture on the
left-side panel of the golden coach.
Called “Tribute of the Colonies”, the image depicts kneeling
black people handing over produce like cocoa and sugarcane to
their white masters – including to a young white woman on a
throne representing the Netherlands.
Next to her, a young white man is seen giving a young black boy
a book as he is presented by his subservient father, an image
which painter Nicolaas van der Waay in 1896 said was meant to
portray “civilisation”.
“We cannot rewrite the past,” the Dutch king said an official
video.
But “we can try to accept it together. This also applies to the
colonial past,” he added.
Or we can try to eliminate the bloodlines that created it.
Wilhelm-Alexander obviously has been of no voluntary help in
this regard (see previous post).
Willem-Alexander is an avid pilot and has said that if he
had not been a royal, he would have liked to be an airline pilot
so he could fly internationally on large-sized aircraft such as
the Boeing 747.[21] During the reign of his mother, he regularly
flew the Dutch royal aircraft on trips.[22] However, in May
2017, Willem-Alexander revealed that he had served as a first
officer on KLM flights for 21 years, flying KLM Cityhopper's
Fokker 70s twice a month, even after his accession to the
throne. Following KLM's phased retirement of the Fokker 70, he
began training to fly Boeing 737s.
...
After contacting Mozambican President Armando Guebuza to verify
that the Mozambican government had no objections, the couple
decided to invest in two villas.[33] In 2009, controversy
erupted in parliament and the press about the project and the
prince's involvement.[33] Politician Alexander Pechtold
questioned the morality of building such a resort in a poor
country like Mozambique.
What else do you expect from a Western colonialist bloodline?

Many Thai royalists view the Romanov as a good light due to Tsar
Nicholas II relationship with King Rama V that prevent the
British and the French conquest over Siam. Russian revolution
and the Romanovs' execution combined with the Soviet Union
attempt to overthrow the Thai monarchy fueled their hatred for
Soviet communist ideology and sympathy for the Romanovs from
many Thai royalists.
Kate and William 'scrap Caribbean visit' after furious

...
Members of the indigenous community around the Akte’iL Ha cacao
farm in the foothills of the Maya mountains brandished signs
warning the prince to "get off our land".
Critics branded the planned visit an insult and held up signs
making it clear that William and Kate were not welcome.
Banners declared "not crown land", while another told the future
king "Prince William leave our land".
Good, but you should not even call him "Prince". We should
reserve titular address only for people who truly deserve the
titles.
Planners were accused of failing to respect community
leaders, with locals allegedly told the village "had to look
good" for the visit.
Sebastian Shol, chairman of Indian Creek village, told the Daily
Mail: "We don't want them to land on our land, that's the
message that we want to send. They could land anywhere but not
on our land."
Actually, they should not be allowed to land anywhere.
Village youth leader Dionisio Shol was reported to have
said the way the visit was handled raised the issue of
colonialism.
He said: "For us it really hits right at home because of the
treatment. The organiser said we had to let them use the
football field and that people were coming to our village and it
had to look good.
...
"Giving community leaders commands did not sit well with the
community."
The police were said to have refused to allow them to protest
during the planned visit due to security concerns, so villagers
staged a demonstration including banners that read 'Prince
William leave our land' and 'Colonial legacy of theft continues
with Prince and FFI'.
People in Indian Creek, which has a population of fewer than
1,000 people have been in conflict with Flora and Fauna
International (FFI), which owns another nearby contested
property to the sustainable farm, and William is a patron of the
charity since 2020 - the latest royal to back the organisation
which began with George Vl.
The simple fact that William named his eldest son George (or
indeed that he reproduced at all) shows he feels absolutely no
remorse for his ancestors' behaviour.
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Dozens of well-known leaders
in Jamaica including professors and politicians are demanding an
apology and slavery reparations as the Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge prepare for a trip to the former British colony.
The group is rejecting the visit of Prince William and Kate
scheduled for Tuesday, part of a larger trip to the Caribbean
region that coincides with the 60th anniversary of Jamaica’s
independence and the 70th anniversary of the coronation of Queen
Elizabeth II.
“We see no reason to celebrate 70 years of the ascension of your
grandmother to the British throne because her leadership, and
that of her predecessors, have perpetuated the greatest human
rights tragedy in the history of humankind,” read a letter
published Sunday ahead of the couple’s visit and signed by 100
Jamaican leaders.
Good, but it would be even better if you did not use "human
rights", a Western concept, to criticize Westerners.
Jamaica lawmaker Mike Henry, who has long led an effort
to obtain reparations that he estimates at more than 7 billion
pounds, told The Associated Press in a phone interview that an
apology is only the first step for what he described as “abuse
of human life and labor.”
This should not be about money. This should be about terminating
all colonialist bloodlines.
Hundreds of thousands of African slaves toiled in Jamaica
under more than 300 years of British rule and faced brutal
conditions. There were numerous bloody rebellions, with one
woman called “Queen Nanny” leading a group of formerly enslaved
Africans known as Jamaican Maroons whose guerrilla warfare
became renown and battered British forces. “Queen Nanny” remains
the sole female of Jamaica’s eight national heroes.

LONDON (AP) — Prince William has expressed his “profound
sorrow” for slavery during a visit to Jamaica, though he stopped
short of offering the apology demanded by protesters who are
also seeking reparations for Britain’s role in the slave trade.
...
The Advocates Network, a Jamaican alliance of human rights
activists, rejected William's comments and said it did not
constitute the apology they're seeking.
“It is merely an acknowledgement that slavery was abhorrent. A
bad thing that all well thinking persons would condemn. There
was no responsibility taken! No call out of centuries of British
bloody conquest and plunder. No call out of the dehumanization
and exploitation,” the alliance said.
It also accused William of uttering “empty words” that don't
rise “to the level of the formal apology that we deserve. All
that it does is to confirm the insensitivity of the Royal family
to the plight of Jamaicans today, both here in Jamaica and in
Britain.”
Protesters in Jamaica also have spoken out against the trip,
demonstrating outside the British High Commission on Tuesday
with raised fists and wearing T-shirts emblazoned with a pair of
shackled Black wrists surrounded by the phrases “Seh Yuh Sorry!”
and “Apologize now!”
I agree that William was uttering empty words. So why not jump
on him after his speech and hang him from a lamp post?
