Germany's armed forces must become the best-equipped military
force in Europe, says Scholz | DW News
Vladimir Putin's Russia poses the greatest current threat
to NATO, says German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in a keynote speech
he delivered to Germany's armed forces - the Bundeswehr.
Scholz told German military leaders that they should accept that
Russia will define itself as an adversary to the European Union,
the US and Nato - for the foreseeable future.
And, he said Germany's armed forces must become the
best-equipped military force in Europe.
Russian oil giant Rosneft put under German trusteeship -
Preserving while disconnecting | DW News
Berlin has put the German subsidiary of Russian oil giant
Rosneft under trusteeship. That means a federal regulator is
taking control of one of the nation's critical refineries in the
eastern town of Schwedt -- which is served by the Russian
oil-pipeline Druzhba. The German-government said growing
concerns from banks, insurers and suppliers about the refinery's
future forced it to act now.
Berlin is vowing to find non-Russian sources of oil for the
refinery.
That announcement about Rosneft is part of a larger
balancing-act in Berlin as it tries to preserve critical
energy-infrastructure while disconnecting from the Russian
supply that keeps it going.
Another example is the natural-gas company Uniper. It was the
largest importer of Russian gas, but is now struggling as
Russian deliveries fall away. Now the German government is
considering stronger measures to keep it afloat.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany is taking control of three
Russian-owned refineries in the country to ensure energy
security before an embargo on oil from Russia takes effect next
year, officials said Friday.
The Economy Ministry said in a statement that Rosneft
Deutschland GmbH and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH will be put
under the administration of Germany’s Federal Network Agency. As
a result, the agency will also control the companies’ shares in
three refineries: PCK Schwedt, MiRo and Bayernoil, located in
the east and south of the country.
Of course, if you ask me, Germany should also take back
Koenigsberg while they are at it:

Sweden:
Why Turkey’s Hit On Kurdish Militants In Syria & Iraq May Impact
Finland & Sweden’s NATO Bids
Turkey carried out air strikes on Kurdish militant bases
in northern Iraq and Syria. Ankara says the Kurdistan Workers
Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia were using the
bases to launch attacks on Turkey. The air strikes are
reportedly a retaliation to the November 13 explosion in
Istanbul, that killed 6 people and injured over 80. The recent
escalation of tensions is expected to have consequences for
Finland and Sweden’s NATO aspirations. Will Turkish strikes on
PKK impact Nordic nations’ NATO entry?

NATO conducts military drills in Poland's Suwalki Gap
NATO forces took part in drills in northern Poland on
Friday (November 25), an area of crucial significance to the
security of the alliance's eastern flank.
The TUMAK- 22 exercises involve 2,000 soldiers from land and air
forces, the Polish Ministry of Defence said. They also involved
more than 1,000 pieces of combat and logistical support
equipment.
The drill saw dozens of Polish and allied soldiers cross the
water with military vehicles on amphibious transporters, while
U.S. troops in Abrams tanks simulated chasing the enemy.
